sorry mista white, im busy grieving over the loss of my family while im in space
He carried the behind the scenes and interviews, not only because of his outstanding eloquence, but also because he understands the movie and Wes. Thanks to his inputs, I’ve been able to comprehend the film much better!
His dialogue is so deceptively simple yet incredibly complex it’s frustrating how artfully done it is
Ive studied his films recently buying all the criterions and studying the booklets and reading a book about Grand Budapest Hotel and all his influences Ernst Lubsitch and so on i really love everything about his films the themes he explores the set designs everything
Nah. This movie was not that at all. It’s just that people have been trained to believe it is “simple but complex” because it’s Wes Anderson. There is nothing interesting, profound, humorous, or worthwhile about this movie.
@@skiphoffenflaven8004idk i thought it was kinda funny when the alien posed with the meteorite
@@skiphoffenflaven8004yea I didn't really get it.. it was fun though
@@skiphoffenflaven8004lol okay dude
That bit in the movie when he appears from the left of the frame and asks "Am I not in this?" just cracked me up so hard! 🤣🤣🤣
He wanted so much to be in the color scene lol
I already wanna go and see it again
dont😂
Nah really
Boring movie
Same
@@li528ify mm, I thought it was very very interesting.
Asteroid City is so complex because of the two stories written over one another. The play Asteroid City and the writing and the performing of the play. Both are two different stories and to get it you have to watch it twice to follow each one through.
Neither one of them felt like 'a story'.
@@smorrowthat’s because both of them were just shows. Both were a theater production, almost opera
Don't forget the play and the black and white parts are BOTH fiction written for a television broadcast.
I enjoyed the film. Has me still thinking about it, which I can’t say about most films I’ve seen recently. Wes’s films(if you like his style which you already know if you do or don’t) are always a treat. If you’ve never seen one of his movies I’m not sure this is the best introduction as it felt very much like a reflection on his body of work.
It is not as if a Wes Anderson film requires promotion. However, Bryan Cranston should get a bonus for the charismatic way in which he sells it.
Hes exactly right about Anderson all his films demand a second viewing
2:50 she asks him the question.
I was scrolling for this.. 🤣🤣🤣 but the comeback is Quite amazing.
I saw it today. Despite my best efforts, most of it blew past me. In a couple weeks, I'll watch it again. But only one more try. Honestly, the whole film seemed to be missing the reel that would tie it all together.
Yup same for me
same... another miss from Wes, first The french dispatch and now this.... i was soooo looking forward to this movie, thinking that this would be in the same league as moonrise kingdom or even budapest Hotel, but no... not even close... is he losing it?
I've seen only 2 of his movies - Budapest and this one.... ig either we didn't get what he's trying to say cos he's saying it in a complex way as real life is or he did not do it properly....but I got the gist of what he intended thru a RUclips video and felt that it was extremely relevant for today's circumstances.
my dude, watch every other movie he made and you'll be happy, like really! He is one of my favorite movie makers but this and french dispatch is not "it" Darjeling express is amazing,so have that as your next to watch i say@@vkeshav6719
I don't understand the lack of love for the french dispatch it is my second favourite Wes Anderson Movie@@theoroosevelt4849
Bryan Cranston is honestly so fine ❤
I have watched it 4 times and plan to watch it many more in my life. Incredible film!
Watched it yesterday (and went to the props exhibition afterwards) and immediately thought, I n ed to see it again to fully understand it and see more of the set details
This movie is about life, death and discovery, but its also about the creative process and how actors deal with internalizing their roles. Remember, both the play Asteroid City AND the black and white parts are fiction written for a television broadcast hosted by Bryan Cranston.
You can’t wake up if you don’t fall asleep.
The soundtrack is incredible.
Wes Anderson's movies need to be seen at least three times. This movie is a perfect example of that. It changes your perspective each time.
Bryan is the GOAT actor
As someone who loves Wes Anderson movies I was pretty disappointed. At the same time I feel like it’s weirdly what the film wanted me to feel.
SPOILER: Bryan Cranston does in fact say “Walter” in Asteroid City 😮
when??
@@bingonight1504in the black and white audience scene when the crowd are getting introduced by spotlight (back middle guy pretty sure)
I am a fan of Wes Anderson but I barely made it through Asteroid City. I came close to shutting it off.
What a deep yet fun and entertaining movie ... its going to be a classic must watch
One of my favorite actors!
The best film of all time in my opinion. I love asteroid city.
Holy sh**snacks, you reaaalllyyy need to see more movies. It's not even one of his best.
@@kevinlakeman5043 I've seen all of Wes' films, and I watch a film a day :) mostly films from before 1970. This is his best film imo. I saw it 6 times in theaters and probably 10 times on blu ray
Not even the best wes anderson movie. So much hyperbole
Thank you Bryan I feel less stupid
I mean, I want to watch every Wes Anderson movie 5 times a day, so you don’t have to tell me twice
ive seen it 10 times
Watched it for the 2nd time recently. Loved it both times.
I watched it again the other day a couple of weeks after the first viewing and picked up more and enjoyed it a lot more and looking forward to buying it on Blu Ray when it gets released here in Australia
I loved the movie, just loved it
he’s talking about cooking
Forgive me, but I cannot take my eyes away from Tony Revolori in the background. 👀
..I'd rather watch the actors chatting over dinner. They probably showed more emotion...And listened to each other rather than just said their lines extremely fast.
love these answers!!
He was not wearing pants during the interview.
Watched it on Prime, felt confused and unsatisfied after the first watch. Then I watched a film analysis of it, and now I feel an obligation to rewatch it again, bc it’s certainly not a one watch film.
I've seen it 2x. I left liking it, but mostly for the esthetics. It doesn't seem to have a story (at least not that I can tell) and much of it seems unnecessarily odd, like the multiple microphone gag during Jeffrey Wright's characters speeches or the secret agent-looking guy whose in the background a lot. The onramp into nowhere and the list goes on and on. In the end, I didn't feel invested in any character as I have in his other movies. This one felt like an upchuck of various ideas and somewhat related threads. His other movies are much tighter.
My first watching, I took breaks. It’s so dense!
Just saw Asteroid City in the depths of France. All 5 of us in a little cinema. Brian Cranston is right. You DO need to see it more than once. The snark is so unnecessary. Wes Anderson is an acquired taste. You get it, or you don't. And that's OK.
We should watch it 2 times so that Bryan gets twice the money, and if we watch it 3 times he gets thrice the money
Brilliant movie
Once was enough
Asteroid City actually proves that Wes Anderson loves modern Hollywood blockbusters and isn't an opposing force to them at all. He is homaging the childhoods of the men who invented them. In 1955 George Lucas was 11, Spielberg was 8 and Cameron was 1. The kids who sang about dancing spacemen will one day work at ILM.
I just saw Asteroid City. All of Wes' films are beautiful to look at and have wonderful charm but this time I have to say, it was too much of a Wes Anderson film, if that makes sense? The double story was cool but the movie left me feeling empty, there was no overarching theme or take-away that I could grasp. I had no idea why the characters were the way they were and no insight into their true motivations. Every character's relationship was shallow and uninteresting and the movie had no resolution of any kind, on any front. It felt....and I hate to say this....extremely pretentious.
I usually really enjoy Anderson's movies. They're remarkable visually. The writing is generally smart, fun, inventive and makes me laugh. But Asteroid City did little for me. Maybe I'll give it a try again, but there's droves of movie to see before watching that again.
Imagine yourself standing on a train station platform, brimming with excitement. The air crackles with anticipation, for your LOVE is set to arrive with this very train. The announcement you've been yearning for finally echoes through the station, signaling the imminent arrival. Your heart quickens its pace, synchronized with the train's gradual approach, and you can't help but imagine the magical moment of finally setting eyes on your beloved. In your mind's eye, you see them waving, their voice filled with exhilaration as they declare, "Here I am!"
The piercing blast of a horn pierces through your reverie, jerking you back to reality. The train surges forward, gliding along the tracks, and you strain to catch a glimpse of your LOVE through the windows. But alas, the multitude of passengers obstructs your view. They pass you by slowly, tantalizingly, until the train screeches to a stop with a resounding screech.
Eagerly, you await the opening of the doors, hoping to catch a glimpse of your LOVE among the bustling crowd. People hurry off the train, their faces a blur of fleeting strangers. Your eyes dart in every direction, searching fervently for that familiar face, but the multitude proves overwhelming. In a flurry of movement, they stream past you, some heading towards the exit, while others embark on the train, obscuring your view further. Your excitement morphs into panic as you frantically scan the crowd, desperately wondering, "Where is my LOVE?" Perhaps, in the flurry of activity, you missed their arrival. Dread seizes you, threatening to overpower your senses.
As if mocking your distress, an announcement crackles through the speakers, warning of the impending departure. Panic courses through your veins, intensifying with each passing moment. You cast a desperate glance toward the platform's exit, hoping against hope that your LOVE awaits you there. Alas, the doors begin to close, sealing your fate. The train sets in motion, receding into the distance, leaving you alone on the platform, abandoned without your beloved.
Your heart sinks, the world around you shrinking into a void of desolation. LOVE, once within reach, slips away, and you're left to grapple with the ache of longing and the haunting absence that lingers in your soul.
And so, you stand there, a solitary figure on the platform, the train's departure serving as a bittersweet reminder of love's ephemeral nature.....
That's How I felt while watching the movie
SooooooooGOOOD, i was actually very ANGRY when it ended! 🤬uck!!!
I wanted it to keep going on and on forever!!!
multi-millimeters are always patting each other on the back.
I can't watch even once! It ain't releasing in India 😢

If Asteroid City left you with questions or if you just want to discuss it, I did a 1 hour comprehensive essay on it (on my other channel, linked below) and I think I may have figured it out.
ruclips.net/video/xjArS8GF2JU/видео.html
I'd love to discuss.
Because if the first time the movie does not put you to sleep, it will surely put you to sleep the second time
What happened at 2:10? It looks like Mr. Cranston was goosed…
I'm sorry, bryan. I will not.
Way too much dialogue in the last few Wes Anderson films.
this interview feels like a wes andserson scene lol, everyone in the background laughing and talking with their hands seeming very fake and industry, then bryan cranston being really real and attention grabbing
I found once already somewhat disappointing.
0:15 the timing of that laugh from behind makes it seem like his statement is sarcasm lol
That movie was beyond bad
No. It already stole 2 hours of my life. That’s all it gets.
Am i the only one who saw Robin Williams in the thumbnail?
I would rather watch paint dry, more entertaining
BC used to be cool until he exposed himself, hes done now 👎
Watched this last night - it is a film that desperately wants you to believe it is "complex and nuanced", it is not. It is mildly entertaining at best... a pretentious bore at worst, and the "point" of the movie is slapped across your face from the beginning.
Watch it twice because the first time you will experience no authentic humanity. The second time you might accidentally get a whiff of real human emotion.
I caught it the first time. There are pauses in conversations where the characters have a subtle change from shallow to genuine. You can see it in their eyes.
If you understand the English language or have any sense of human empathy, you should have no trouble understanding the emotion under the surface.
Actors are so lame
I tried to watch this film, it was just awful. Anderson tried to capture his previous films but Asteroid City failed.
Yes, it's not full of offensive Anderson stereotypes of scientists, smart kids and SF movies. Instead it's a film about a television show ABOUT A PLAY ...about 1950s offensive stereotypes! Meta to the max, and so escapes all criticism. But where can I get a black t-shirt reading "FALL ASLEEP!"
Was there another way circa 1955?
Wes Anderson is now essentially making parodies of his own movies. Pathetic. The self-conscious formalism is neither funny nor uplifting ; it is depressing.
it wants to be depressing

@@kyzfgonna have to give it to op here he's right. It's getting to the point with wes where every live action movie he makes has to go beyond just a narrative kerfuffle. It used to be simple but always apparent, such as zissou, but now it's like we need to have a movie about a magazine or it needs to be relayed thru 3 different narrators and aspect ratios. TLAWSZ and tennennaums were perfect. Interesting presentation of the premise while still being straight forward enough for one viewing but still always worth repeat viewings and new discoveries.
I really didn't like it.
Not gonna lie, it was pretty awful movie.
Horrible movie. It is Nope, part 2. Nothing is said, nothing but cliches. Its title should have been Cliche City.

Wasnt that deep💀
