      Grand grand fan de Wes Anderson et de toute son œuvre, je n'ai pas aimé Asteroid City. Trop sophistiqué. Y'a un moment faut raconter une histoire dans un film et pas se la raconter pour épater la galerie, ce qu'a fait, certes avec brio, Wes Anderson avec Asteroid City.

      Tarantino definitely has the encyclopedic knowledge but he never comes off with the earnest reverence that Wes has here, and oh my god does Tarantino ramble. I cannot stand listening to Tarantino talking about movies. I know Wes Anderson has better things to do but I would watch him take three more trips around this store

      he did get something wrong bout Drunken Angel @ 1:55, he said the title refers to Mifune's character but it's actually referring to Shimura's doctor he just mentioned and called a 'saint' (ie. could also be described as an angel, also the doctor is the alcoholic - also he literally calls himself an angel in one scene)

    This Format is absolutely fantastic, amazing work. Also nice that is only with subtitles and not dubbed so you can enjoy it in English. Love people that dedicated their whole life to something geeking out about a topic they are passionate about!

    J'admire sa connaissance des grands films français, tout en restant humble et jovial. Il te donne l'envie de voir et de revoir ces films. J'ai eu du mal avec divers "Français connaisseurs" qui te parlent de cinéma français, mais Anderson te donne si facilement l'envie d'aimer la chose, comme si t'étais un môme devant le marchand de glaces.

    One of the best feelings is to pick a film by accident in a video store shelf, and later discover you love it. Many frustrating encounters LOL sure, but always good to find a knew director or actors films you love to watch.

    Petite "erreur" sur la fin de l'interview, quand il parle de l'amitié entre Takahata et Miyazaki et qu'ils s'aident et se soutiennent encore aujourd'hui. Malheureusement Takahata est décédé en 2018 après avoir réalisé son testament et probablement un des plus gros chefs d'oeuvres de l'animation Japonaise (et je ne parle meme pas de l'excellent Tombeau des Lucioles)
    Le conte de la Princesse Kaguya que je vous sur-recommande.
    Voilà, c'etait ma modeste contribution ;)

      J’ai eu l’impression quelque fois que ça été tourné il y a quelques années, notamment aussi quand il parle de Agnès Varda comme si elle était toujours vivante, et aussi lorsqu’il a mentionné Takahata. Mais au même temps c’est étrange car il parle beaucoup de Asteroid City.

    I like the reference to 'Bad day in black rock' for Asteroid City, a very good movie i.m.o, with interesting Copland-like music by Previn as well, a kind of scoring one doesn't hear much anymore in movies these days. Anyway, very interesting generally, thanks for sharing.

    es recommended 'The Pajama Game' one of my all time favorite musicals. 'Meet Me in St. Louis' yes. 'Bad Day at Black Rock', 'A Streetcar Named Desire'...I've always depended on the kindness of strangers, 'Barfly'...'Look around you. Its a cage with golden bars' . Quite a list. Many of these I have not seen but will.

    This was great! I felt enlightened by Anderson’s talk. By comparison, listening to Tarantino one ends up not enlightened but inside his head. I don’t want to be inside Tarantino’s head.

    I only watched 6 or 7 films and I watched 2000 movies! For other directors interviews, I already watched 80% of the list. He didn't mentioned classics, he mentionnes movies he loves.

    Great work Konbibi, I find this series to be more fun than the criterion closet simply because of the greater selection. And the shop has more space and is a bit more colourful hah.
