Awesome video thanks Edward. Millions and millions love rock and R & B music. These greats are the source of most modern pop music and deserve way more credit and fame!
Ol' Lightnin' gonna show you how it's done
Excellent work on the history of one of the greatest bluesmen to ever come along. I was just a freshman in high school when Lightnin passed away. I did not know of him tell a few years later after being inspired by the movie "Crossroads" 1986
This was really well done Edward. Lightnin’ was truly the real deal.
That was fantastic Edward! I really enjoy the musical history & your presentation on these videos! Lightnin' was definitely an amazing blues artist! 👍👍🎸🎸
And the coolest looking guy in the blues, too.
Love "Grandma Told Grandpa."
I have Lightnin' Hopkins version of Green Onions on my playlist. The long banter before he actually plays the song is priceless.
Thanks Ed, I love hearing about these great true blues artists!
Thanks Edward 😎Good day to you 👍🍻
I wish so much I could have heard him live!!!!!
great video.. love Lightning
Po Lightnin is my blues hero and forever will be.
That was good, thanks!
I love Lightnin Hopkins. Thanks for doing this video. Are you going to do a song by him?
He could play some of the nastiest licks that would make the hair on your neck stand up. That’s what first turned me on to Lightnin. Later, I realized lyrically he was a great story teller. Near the top of my list of the greatest bluesmen of all time.
Good Doc. I’ll be checking out your channel!✌🏻
You're preaching to the converted with me and Sam Lightnin' Hopkins. Even the late John Peel (DJ) announced his death on his radio show all those years ago. Simply sublime.
This was absolutely wonderful. Thanks Edward. Heading over to PP to tip ya.
Very interesting video. I have been a fan since 1963. Still have my first Lightnin L.P and many others.
So much history and artistry packed into a 7 minutes + vid!
Thanks! Blues 🤘🏽
Influence on me, for sure. Mr Phillips, you are one hell of a musician yourself. Thanks for posting this.
Great video Edward, love hearing the history of the blues.
One of my favs! Mr. Mojo Hand.
Thanks for putting this up. I am a hugh Lightnin Hopkins fan. I am happy to have several CD's but no
LP's they werent available when I discovered him in the late 80's. He heavily enfluenced my blues
collection. Regards from Ody Slim
Nicely done
Got to see him a few times at the Jewish Community Center in SW Houston in the late 60s.
Welcome back Ed, great video, I love these blues mini-docs, really informative!!
