Greg Howe Pedalboard SOS

- Опубликовано: 11 ноя 2017
- I received a call from Greg Howe while on tour with Simon Phillips. His pedalboard was playing up and making all sorts of noises and needed some help. So I jumped on a plane :)

LEGENDS!
+Andertons Music Co. ah, cheers mate :)
It is SO awesome to see Greg and Dan interract like normal, genuine people with a common interest. I share that interest and my hat is off to each of you for your high achievements in what you do.
11:35 - that sounds amazing, hammering the bass note and playing the lead line. Great player.
Dan, mere words do not really convey the enormity of what you have accomplished for planet earth. Your gifts, your insights as what Could be, your dedication to creating clean sonic character and the required wisdom to follow the trail, & stay your course, you're a magic man.
Ah mate, that is so kind. Made my day. Thanks so much 🤓🙏
i love how happy they both are, it's just great to see
Dan you have your next T-shirt "daisy chains, just don't!"
Very cool process. Amazing how a few basic things like power and signal chain can make such a huge difference.
Yep, makes a massive difference :)
Defo power makes huge difference. I remember during my gigging days quite a few guitarist would daisy chain a 9v adapter to 4 pedals. I know decent power supply cost money but worth it to get proper use out of your gear.
That was just fantastic, two masters at work
LOVE these build videos, so cool seeing the stuff you talk about on the show being applied in real life and with a serious artist.
Great job, Dan! Love how the quality of the sound sparks creativity in Greg's playing.
He's seems rediscovering his rig and hearing for the first time how some his pedals should really sound.
Big fan, Dan. Keep making these great videos. Before YT we wouldn't never come across such valuable informations about gear.
Cheers mate.
Love it man!! Sounds so clean & pure!!
Really inspired to talk about a gigrig situation with you soon!!
Greg is such an amazing player too & so nice to hear him say this is the best pedal situation he’s ever had!!
Dan, you're a wealth of knowledge. I get a kick out of watching their reactions to your work.
Great upload!
So cool to see how inspired he is by not having to worry about noise from his pedals as he just dials in all that feeling and creativity. I know that exact feeling when your tone is just perfect and the emotive and fluid lines just pour out of your fingers. Nice job Dan, pedal man saves the day again!!
Great board build! And Dan's face when Greg is playing HE IS SO AMAZING!
Very cool. I like these "board build" videos. If I may make a request, some commentary at the end (i.e., summarizing what was less than ideal and what was done to improve the situation) would be interesting. I know for this one it some of that was obvious. Just a thought.
OMG, GREG FUCKING HOWE! My absolute favourite musician, get him on TPS Daniel!
Greg is a phenomenal player. Fortunate enough to meet Greg way back in his early days when he was playing the pink Strat. Met him backstage at a club in Dallas called “ The Basement”. Such a humble down to earth individual. A great memory of mine. Love his artistry and unique style. Always a big fan.
That's the place I jumped from the side of stage after the drum solo and about knocked myself out on the hanging side fill...
As a proud owner of the GH Lick Box I am delighted to finally hear Greg play through it! Nice work Daniel.
Great work Dan, very cool! Sounds great, and you know that Greg's gonna be diggin' the stack-able drive action live for sure!
From one Eng. to another: An incredibly beautiful job done, mate...I love your work, Dan...
Seems like an easy upsell to Part II as he seems very impressed. Good work, and I can't wait for Part II!
Absolutely wonderful. Great stuff Dan!
Nice job with the pedalboard! And Greg's playing is just awesome! Rock on!
That was such a great watch :) Greg is an amazing player. So happy you recorded this. Thanks Dan :)
Beautiful video. Awesome to see two masters at their craft. I became of Greg Howe in 1988 when his first solo album was released and it's just great to see this. Daniel, I'm saving my pennies to have you do a small board for me. You both have great "ears" and it was fun to watch this!
+Bad Minton ah, cheers BM, look forward to sorting a small board for you ;)
Popping the beer at the end! Nice touch! You earned it! It's 6:18 am here in NYC and I should be going to bed (worked last night), but now I have to play my guitar because Greg Howe!
Your like a super hero... traveling and ridding the world of troubled pedal boards . Love the videos my friend . You seem like an incredible guy....it's so nice to see . Your not only a awesome player yourself , but you are a true fan of other people's talents as well . Keep up the awesome work brother . Thanks .
+Jeff Hebert ah, that’s very kind, cheers Jeff :)
Here I come to save the day! Pedal man is on his way!
Ian Wrigley another t-shirt concept! Perhaps on the back the admonishment to not do daisy chains. iWant.
Thank you Dan, made my Sunday morning 👍🏻
+Digby Tomlinson my pleasure :)
Brilliant video, what a nice guy. The Pedal board looked and sounded sensational, thank you Dan.
What an amazing video between two great professionals.
I love vids like this! Please keep them coming.
Love these kind of videos. Completely understand the need for symmetry - keeps me up at night when things are misaligned. I could feel the disappointment through your voice when you had to accept the cabling for what it was - magnificent job though and clearly a very happy Greg Howe!
cheers mate, yep, i had very limited time. If I had a few extra hours I would have jumped in a cab, found a cable place and made all new cables for the rig, but these turned out fine. Cheers mate
That board sounds amazing! Greg’s playing is incredible as always. Wish the Gig Rig stuff was in stores in USA.
Mickey Thomas they have an online usa shop
great vid,great playing,great work Daniel.
thanks Mike ;)
Thanks for sorting it out before his Oslo gig on Thursday! :D
Great work Dan!
Greg is a sweetheart of a man and a beast of a musician. Man... And such a nice job with that board. Pristine sound!
Loved everything about this!
What a killer pedalboard!!!
I must say that Carl Martin pedals are absosmegginglutely AMAZING!!!!!

+Max Salas my pleasure :)

+tunaXonXtoast you’re very welcome :)
Great video Daniel. Love the mutual respect between you and Greg
Nice work Dan! Howe is brilliant! Wow that's some killer tones!
Dan , where do I send my request for an autographed photo ?!?!? Anyone who can make Greg Howe sound even better than he already does is my hero ! You , sir , are a guitar ALL-STAR !
ah, you're too kind. cheers matey ;)
FYI: Greg is playing on drummer Simon Phillips newest album called PROTOCOL 4.... **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED**
Wow, you cleaned that board up so nicely--aesthetically+sonically!!! You absolutely killed it again man. Thanks for everything, and keep it going mate!! Loved you guys from from the beginning a.k.a. "That Corner Show". Peace from the smallest of 'the States' (RI)🎸
Supernatural sound and playing!
Thanks for giving us a look behind the curtain
I just love your videos. I had a hunch from your Insta that you updated this channel and boy I'm glad I clicked.
ah, cheers B ;)
Can watch this stuff all day. Love pedal board builds.
Greg´s looking like a child on Xmas morning! Truly amazing guitarist and now with the magic hands and wisdom of Professor Dan Steinhardt!! COOL!!
Fantastic ! Amazing player and tone , Wow , I want what he's having. For me Greg has become the modern Van Halen. And this tone just slays. Thanks , Subbed
Yeah man! Very cool you did this.
Absolutely ace, looking forward to Phase II with Greg Howe.
I'd love to see more board builds and fix ups on this channel!
Hi Dan, Happy New Year, thank you for the excellent Video's and excellent advice! I hope 2018 is a brilliant year for you and your loved ones.
Melbourne, Australia.
Its amazing how even the pros don't get the importance of isolating the power and quality switching makes. Daniel saving the worlds tone one board at a time! Killer dude
That sounds amazing!!!
This was awesome... I got away from pedals so long ago to do the convenience thing of a modeling floorboard... now I’m going back to pedals and looking for where to start. Things look a lot different then when I was using them
Kiesel guitars-recently watched factory tour vid - great folks, beautiful fiddles, great prices.... my gosh - sounds coming thru loud and clear on my stereo... great vid dan !!!! unbelievable finger spread Greg has... original blues style too.... wow
I sense a G2 is Greg's future, and hopefully a full episode. Super cool guy
+Charlie Bolland yep, that’s next :)
@@TheGigRigDaniel
I wouldn't use anything else...
Glad to see your still jamming an in the music Buisiness Greg I know you’ve worked hard to get where your at in your career 👍🏾
I knew there was a reason to stay subscribed to this channel
Really starting to dig what you do Dan. Especially if you're cool with Greg. What a kind soul. Good on ya mate! Mick, you're playing is sweet dude. Both of you really. God Bless!
+Fran Kardos ah, thanks Fran :)
I love this video Daniel! Hope to see ya at NAMM!
I would have lost my mind working on my knees that long!... You're the champ!
Hey Dan - thanks for sharing that! Awesome to see how you fixed the problem an what a nice guy Greg is ... seems he had lot of fun. Totally adds to VICP ;)
VICP!! ;)
Perfect Greg... Love tour Music !
Love the super clean switching. Also being from San Diego originally, and a long time Carvin / Kiesel player, I had a chance to play his orange prototype guitar. They are pretty sweet.
Love these fly on the wall vids Dan. You are like the "Red Adair" of pedalboards for pros!
Hi Dan I was with Greg the whole day yesterday here at Carl’s shop shooting some video stuff, was at the gig later on, the board work flawless, nice job you did there, Greg speaking highly about it. Cheers Soren.
Ah, cheers Soren, your pedals sound Ace! That Plexitone is outrageous! Need to get one on the show :) thanks Soren, all the best
Give Jay a call and you get one.
Man, great work!
What a fantastic reaction to the improvement...and that from such a seasoned player. Great job. Love TPS, by the way - keep up the good work :)
And Daniel, you really should call Tony Macalpine and make him an offer he can't refuse; I love T-Mac's music but his tone as of late needs some GigRIg love and magic :)
O yeah!!! The instagram teaser is finally on! (^^) Thanks for making this video, Dan!
Great!!! He’s such a great player. So unique.
+Chris B yep, he’s amazing
I love hearing him play he is just one of the best in the world!
yep, he's just amazing
Amazing video! Ahhh.
Kind of interesting to see Dan's reaction to a pro using a daisy chain. He was practically going full Gerry Butler from 300 and booted that daisy chain down an endless pit.
Sam Anderson that is special. So I toss a daisy chain in the trash now what. That’s all my power. I need help with MY board. Danial where are you!!
Spreading the word to the pros. Great work. Doing the basics right makes all the difference. Daisy chains are just asking for trouble.
Inspirational stuff!
Thank you for the video. Isolated power and a switching system really make a difference, especially when you have that many pedals, which I know isn't a lot for touring players these days.
power is key to any rig, and then switching. Get those two right and you're on a winner ;)
What a great video Dan, thanks for sharing.
Btw, I think you should feature the Plexitone in one of your videos.
I love seeing that Buddy Guy Wah. Such a killer sounding pedal! I love mine. Great video, as always. I really like when you do the board builds. It might be nice to see a bit of that incorporated into "behind the scenes" elements for That Pedal Show to show us how you decided to use the pedals for each given topic you cover on that show.
Yo! Greg Howe is one of the all time greats! The intro licks in the song Direct Injection on the album Introspection are the definition of shred. That whole album is full of smart and creative melodic themes.
That sounds stellar \m/
cheers mate, to be fair, hard to sound rubbish when Greg is playing, he's amazing!
You totally derserve that beer, excellent job excellent vid thx Dan.
+melvoid01 was tasty ;)
Another killer board. I like that power supply which you've shown in other videos. That seems to be the way to go. And that guitar Greg used is so beautiful I want to have a baby with it. LOL. YOur videos have definitely turned me onto some great equipment.
very nice job,bravo!
+Pierre Lorthios ah, cheers P :)
So fun to watch.
Flashback & a DD7. Good taste. Elegant, simple, functional - and great tones.
+Matt Gilbert yep, and they sound great!
The QuarterMaster switches soo smoothly. Thanks for sharing and giving us our fix between That Pedal Shows. Definitely amped for part 2 with Analogman!!
+LeTTaRS ah, cheers mate :)
SICK!!! 🔥🔥🔥
✌🏼
Greg is amazing!!! And I agree with him, Dan is like a magician!!
Greg is a Genius and so are you Daniel. You are the Best there is when tone really matter, Cheers, I am a Huge fan. Say hello to Mick !!!
A day in the life of Dan. Awesome!!
Oh, you know... just Greg Howe sitting on a bed, lighting it up... my goodness, what a player!
Love it!
Nice rig Greg
So good
Wow Greg Howe. Next level!
