Greg is a very different player than Mike. Mike is much more of a bebop player who flavors his playing with some rock licks, whereas Greg really is a rock player that flavors his licks with some fusion.
Three stone cold badasses, showing how it's done. Too bad some people just want to nitpick at and belittle each other over a difference of opinion. Enjoy the music.
Stu Hamm playing If You Want Me to Stay there in the solo, in reference to Sly and The Family Stone with Larry Graham ... So I googled it and found out that Prince also linked these 2 songs on a live album
Their from completely different styles, so you can't compare. Greg is totally fusion-rock, and sometimes pure rock. Mike is fusion-jazz, and sometimes plays just jazz.
It's a head scratcher that he is a known commodity in the guitar/bass world. I have NEVER been the slightest bit impressed. That thing with Jeff Berlin, Billy Sheehan, and Stu was laughable, in the sense that Berlin was essentially embarrassing both of them in every possible way throughout
wrong... man you know nothing about improvisation... Greg is good but Mike´s compositon and impro is light years away... Greg improvise in a vamp with 3 chords...
Man Stu has got to be one of the most overrated players ever. Guys like Jeff Berlin, Gary Willis, etc, bury this dude. There is literally nothing interesting about his approach to the bass here
Greg Howe is amazing! How can anyone deny there eyes and ears. Tone, vibrato, speed, rythm, volume.Guitar God! Thanks so much.
Three amazing musicians. That was great!
With Stu Hamm, & Dennis Chambers, you just knew it was going to be great! I got to see Howe II with his brother in a NYC club. They smoked the place.
My good friend! I jammed with Greg Howe back in the late 80's..... Great Guy!
So happy to hear Dennis Chambers play as low as possible, not many drummers do that!
yea, breath!
Especially someone as monstrous as Chambers lol
Greg can run the scales and modes better than anybody else I've ever heard. Amazing player in all respects.
That's all sundays mood.Greg Howe took the right path musically speaking.Good godlike shred positive vibrations.
Greg is really locked in rhythmically here. Love the tone.
bad ass trio, these guys sound great together.
PERFECT GREG HOWE , AMAZING .YEAH!
Super !!!
My imagination of an ideal bassist is Stu Hamm; slighlty fat, amazingly groovy, and extremely cool. Yup.
simply awesome!!!
原曲の魅力が常にそこにある🎵🎵😁😘いい曲
Watched this a million times but only just realised that Stu was quoting "If You Want Me To Stay" by Sly and the Family Stone in his solo!
Damned near half of the song.
He would play that behind Satriani's The Crush Of Love way back in the late 80's/early 90's.
Greg is a very different player than Mike. Mike is much more of a bebop player who flavors his playing with some rock licks, whereas Greg really is a rock player that flavors his licks with some fusion.
fantastic performance and great song ... thumbs up ann

Greg is infinite!
Stu doesn't take a back seat for too many people, Dennis is his usual bad ass self but, Greg is inspired
Wonderful prformance and guitar playing! 5* and best regards!:)

Great Chris Farley-impression, that Stu Hamm!
OMG awesome sound greg
De super musiciens !
good lord have mercy !!!!
This is a kickass version of this song, considering its just a three piece band. Like this.
Spettacolare davvero
two totally different players... both good at what they do, and music is not a competition.
Spettacolo!!
Le top !!!
Yeah!!!!
Guys let's stop all the hate it's great stuff killer music period
PARA GREG HOWE,O CÉU É UM MERO PIT STOP!!!!PQP.......
Greg is so real
Put some poison in a cup of coffee and you'll get a Howe-Hamm-Chambers badass jam
que hermosoooooooooooooooooooo
Sensacional
@tastefulphrasing Yes, it's actually him...
Howe absolutely FUCKS SHIT UP! Thanks for this.
i'm a fan of Howe but Stern has much more knowledge in jazz and bebop, Howe is grounded in rock, Stern is one of those jazz/fusion cats
My Lovely Man :D
I like
Wish I was in dennis´s seat
Had drummer that hated practice, he would say,"we can play jazz" We could but No was the answer.
Funky & Nasty on Wes's joint, wish my bandleader wanted more funk fusion then straight ahead jazz on dis 1
My Guitar On Sale lol!

@tastefulphrasing yep good old stu
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Have a listen to Greg's hero then watch?v=mrXPVAHFjdc
The fun starts at about 2:30
iNTERESTING................. HOWE USES THE VIOLIN STYLE VIBRATO BETTER THAN 90% OF THE TIME WHILE SOLOING............!
"A''W''E''S''O''M''E''.!.!.!.!.!.
like your grammer.
VOCE TEM CERTEZA?????
OFF THE CHAIN> HA HA PEACE & LOVE.
Love the way Larry Graham started his solo! Larry WHO? Try the inventor of "slap electric bass" with Sly and the Fam.
Am I tripping or did everyone in the audience have grey hair?
Its just me or stu hamm just lost all structure in the solo ?
he did, and i think greg tried to catch up with him, so he did not respect the structure either. Epic
Yeah, soloing over changes is not Stu's strong point.
No, they went into a different tune -- "If You Want Me to Stay".
Je crois que le bassiste joue de temps en temps avec Satriani ...
...and i like YOUR spelling.
I don' know... but somehow greg seems very nervous.
2:37 hahaha, that's totally funny how that guy comes in tries to hide him self behind stu's amp, it seems like he stole something hahahaha
Ci mancava soltanto l'amica di Michele (LUCY).
I love Greg but his lack of space between phrases keeps him from holding my interest.
I don't know man, I like greg howe as much as the next guy, but mike stern beats greg for me.
I say you would be wrong.
i like more with tetsuo sakurai on bass .
Stu Hamm so creepy
lol
definitely not a song Howe wants to play,
it suits Hamm though.
EVH on steroids, in a good way
I say Mike Stern would be better,
-it's fucking bad..
When a black man decided to dress like a white rockstar equals greg howe. How i wish more black dude do this
wrong... man you know nothing about improvisation... Greg is good but Mike´s compositon and impro is light years away... Greg improvise in a vamp with 3 chords...
I say you're wrong. Greg Howe is a LOT better than mike stern in about every way imagineable.
-weak...
-Mike Stern instead...
Man Stu has got to be one of the most overrated players ever. Guys like Jeff Berlin, Gary Willis, etc, bury this dude. There is literally nothing interesting about his approach to the bass here
terrible, as usually
