Tie-dye pattern : Bursting Heart

- Today I will show you how to tie-dye a Bursting Heart pattern on a spiraled t-shirt. So for this shirt I'll first demonstrate how to draw our heart outline on the shirt with a washable marker and tie up the heart with sinew. Then I spiral and rubber band the t-shirt, then I apply the liquid procion dyes onto the shirt, and after that I jump right into the reveal of this awesome new tie-dye bursting heart t-shirt. What brand dye did you use and do you use soda ash?
Thank you! I use Dharma Trading Company procion dyes. I buy them right from their website and I do use soda ash. I soak the material in 1:2 soda ash and water water solution and spin out in the washer before tying up. That way the material is damp and not sopping wet and I find it easier to maneuver that way. Hope this helps😊.

Nice, I dyed a baby shirt today and it was not easy. I've learned that larger pieces of material are easier to dye. Thanks for the tutorials!

I started all this for a quarantine hobby to pass the long days but it has taken on a life of its own. I’m obsessed. that was awesome...I bought the fiber reactive dye but the instructions do not say how to mix for tie dye..n do I have to use urea..do u have a vid on that...thanks for sharing
Where did you get the dye from if I can ask? Also I don’t have a video for urea but that’s a great idea!!! Urea is to put in the dye and it will help keep the dye moist on the fabric longer so the dye has time to react with the fabric. I never used it until about 6 months ago and I see a pretty big difference but no it is not a must. Thank you for your comment!
