Men's testosterone levels have been on the decline the past few decades. Plastics and other crap in the environment are to blame. Plus poor diet and lack of physical activity. I think we should be having a serious discussion about men's testosterone levels plummeting. I know people like to joke about this sort of thing, but when millions of men suffer from anxiety, depression, fatigue, low libido, and other poor quality of life issues due to low testosterone, we are in the midst of different kind of pandemic that affects everyone adversely. Low birth rates, unhappy relationships, crimes, suicides, etc all affect society adversely.

I used to obsess about the unfairness of this, the audacity of that, the stupidity of the uber woke left (I'm a liberal myself but cut from a totally different cloth). But I've learned to accept that the world is going unfold as it will, and I can't do much to change it. Instead of pointing fingers and wasting energy on sh!t I can't change, I've mentally and emotionally detached myself from mainstream society and have decided to shred on the guitar to my own rhythm and lead. First, your production quality is excellent. Subscribed for the work you’ve put in. Second, my test results as an early thirties father of four sons who possesses a graduate degree and is in a successful job I love, and a relatively above average level of muscle mass, absolutely astounded me. My wife joked when I went to get tested and said “why bother? You’re about the highest testosterone man I’ve ever met”. Turns out my levels were 278 ng/dl… we were both shocked. Now what I DIDN’T have the test granularity to see was the delta between free and total testosterone and the lab company I use only checks for total levels. I’ve been doing the things recommended to increase my natural levels and will be retesting 3 months from my initial test to determine if I’ve effected any change.
I had my first ever full lab work up done at the same time as well. All markers showed in the near perfect numbers with the exception of Vitamin D. My vitamin D levels were CRITICALLY low. This next work up has me curious to see if my levels have gone up (I’ve been supplementing Vitamin D) and if there is a correlation with my test levels.
Again, thank you so much for the work you’ve put into making this!!! 🤘

Thanks for the detailed post. My situation is very similar to yours except that I just turned 44. I am very curious about your follow up results. Please keep us posted. I am on the verge about getting a full panel done. My basic blood work was normal but only included a basically metabolic panel, liver function and CBC. Asked my PCP about checking testosterone level but he pretty much dismissed it. Basically asked me if I can get a hard on and because I said yes, he just said your level is normal and doesn’t need to be checked. I follow a healthy diet, work out 5 times per week and also have a above average amount of muscle mass. Been supplementing Vitamin D and other minerals. Anyways, please us posted.

No it doesn't. Those studies were done in the 50's and are completely misappropriated. Black people couldn't even get into most colleges, let alone have access to higher jobs and resources. So does that mean all black people had low T?

    • @jeremiahmcpadden4386
      @jeremiahmcpadden4386 4 года назад +1

I mean i was largely referring to the approach as a whole, including mechanisms, evolutionary biology, and those studies (of which he referenced a lot so you're going to have to be more clear-unless you think that studying hockey players watching tv was in the 50s as well).
But anyways, do you really think the studies didn't, or can't account for generalized social settings such clubs, bands, churches, or even just a single class setting? The way humans organize in society isn't always clear and simple, and I got the impression he wasn't just talking about prestige in the sense of the 80s corporate ideal.
To be clear, what I think you're saying about the studies is likely true. I would not at all be surprised that a study in the 50s would be racist, especially not if it were incidental. However I guess the takeaway would be that the study is only misleading if it leads you to assume that only non-CEOs have low t.

This makes total sense to me, his physique would be absolutely incredible even for a person 10 years younger. He works out 2-3 times a week with heavy weights and eats whatever and how much he wants. The weird part is, I literally gain all the mental benefits from high testosterone by just retaining from wanking. The longer I go, the stronger the benefits become. Especially the less mood swings and aggression part, it’s more like pin-pointed aggression. Not constant and random. They say ejac isn’t related to testosterone but I really think otherwise. And before anyone yells “placebo”, it’s not. Because I gave up wanking cuz I was getting tired of it and wanted the real deal, gave myself a challenge to stop wanking till finding a partner, completely unaware of it’s benefits.
And since going to the gym consistently for 10 months now, the benefits are amazing. I no longer give a single fuck around anyone. I just be me, it feels great.
I don’t know whether it’s the zinc (minerals) in our semen or our dopamine levels resetting or whatever that’s causing to mimic high T, but there’s definitely something to semen retention that goes hand in hand with all the things you mentioned in this video.
    Great video btw.

For supplement research, r values are a lot lower - it's a supplement, not a medicine. Still, 0.1 is a modest medium if you wanna be really lenient with it.
I was wondering how many studies he didn't mention that showed neutral or opposing results, and I checked the link for the supplement (a referral link, btw - I wasn't paying full attention so I might have missed the part where he said this was a sponsored video) and the first page contains 25 statements that have an asterisk to say that haven't been evaluated by the FDA. Pretty suspicious but a youtube video from one user with a confirmation bias will never be a replacement for doing real research.

"In a cohort of older men, magnesium levels are strongly and independently associated with the anabolic hormones testosterone and IGF‐1."
A major point of this video is how T levels are multifactorial, a perfect correlation would mean magnesium alone completely controls T levels. Of course thats not true as we saw how everything from body-fat to social status has an impact. I only picked the three most notable mineral deficiencies. So in light of just how many factors can effect T, Magnesium even just accounting for 10% of the changes in T levels is information worth sharing. That said I regret using the authors verbiage, I should have just called it a correlation so that's my bad haha

Great idea. I’ve just started supplementing for my genetic markers and I naturally fell into the d3, magnesium category. And zinc while researching the health benefits.
Seems like, with my sample size of 1, there’s a definite correlation between genetic markers, survival, and testosterone production levels.

The linreg plot at 26:59 is very interesting, but indicates a 'weak' correlation between magnesium and testosterone not a 'strong' one, it's a 'weak' independent positive correlation which is 'very significant' where 10% of the variability in testosterone is accounted for by the magnesium parameter - albeit that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
Am I nitpicking an excellent informative and most importantly concise video? - yes. Am I vitamin D deficient? - also yes.
I'm going to get some fresh air and stop typing walls of text now.

    *update* 31 pounds lost.
I started lifting heavy and eating one meal a day, lost 25 lbs and I noticed I keep lean muscle even on a calorie deficit. I feel more focused and happy in general so I’m assuming my testosterone increased.

Meditative Mind I think dieting in general causes stress and lowered T, but the benefits of losing fat > the negative effects of dieting. Plus T tends to soar after calories are increased.

AmmoBops I agree about endorphins, but even rest days I just feel more motivated and things I would normally dread doing I just get done and move on to the next task or chore. Testosterone seems to be the get shit done hormone.

I did. While I agree with his base premise how testosterone works and is regulated in our body, there is also lots of disinformation in this video to make you believe you can make a significant change in your testosterone levels by boosting it through supplements and by "being more competitive". And of course, he provides us with affiliated links to buy those useless sups (earning him a small share).
