I just came across this video. I'm an Optometrist and just want to make sure you guys are aware to make sure you take breaks when you play games i.e. 20/20/20 rule. Plus it is recommended that your monitor is slightly downwards, not just for bad posture, but for dry eye ensuring that the eyes are able to blink fully as the aperture height is smaller. Eye strain can be caused by active accommodation (closer the screen) and double vision from extended eye movements. Because of this, I highly recommend everyone getting an eye exam because people who are farsighted tend to get more eyestrain than emmetropes and nearsighted people (lots of people are farsighted, you can't confuse farsightedness with presbyopia in older people), often glasses helps relieve that eye strain. I hope this helps. Good video :)
Thanks daddy.
What does having the monitor slightly downwards mean? Lower elevation? Tilted downwards?
@@allenbercero3661 Lower elevation. Its good to look ever so slightly downwards when using the computer
i sit about 2 inches away with max brightness is that bad?
@@Patrick86575 Very bad. I never understand why people and pros do that
I like these kind of videos. love your channel, man
You Answers all of the question in my head, Keep uploading videos.
Love you Ronny Rambo - these videos help me a lot, I would like to add the Rainbow Six Siege Invitational 2020 had the best looking and ergonomic set up using those monitor arms !
Great question. Of course Ron Rambo answering the real questions!
4:17 I feel like I'm going blind.
☠️
Rambo is hands down the most experienced and best teacher. He is calm, collected - and well informed. If you get him to coach you not only will he answer you and help you out for free. but you can literally see the care he has for the community and esports as whole. this is just something i felt like i had to do btw
i love your videos, youre great being~
I just got a new monitor and wanted a refresher on the recommended standards.. I knew exactly which channel to come to.. thanks!
Very Helpful, i need to set my top edge monitor straight to the eyes. Because with current set up it makes my eyes feel tired and loose focus after some games.
This channel made me a better player.
@KrT and my wrist
@KrT and my dick
This dude deserves more subs
Thank you for finally getting to the point
Very helpful, thanks Ron
Great choice of sponsor! Thank you for this helpful video.
I've been using the arm length distance technique for a long time in order to be more comfortable over extended periods of time staring at a monitor, and I think it was worth adapting to it. Thank you.
youre videos are amazing sir. happy that i subscribed you. youre the most helpful fps coach in the youtube.
Ty!
3:16 Ukrainian language,
"Eragon" book
finally something really readable haha
thank you, Ron!
Я тоже заметил)
I loved that entire book series
I really liked your content, keep up the great work!
Thanks 😀
I feel like you are my own personal coach!
Good videos man keep going ❤️ 👌 😘
i wish you was posting before, this is really helpful ty
You are doing the work and/or research I am not willing to do.
Thank you!
Thank you Grizzyly :]
Ergonomically I think it’s better to be eye level with the centre of the monitor as opposed to the top of the monitor to not cause eye strain when looking down all the time and to not cause neck pain when having your neck slightly tilted down to look at the screen, often at the centre.
Thank you!
Ramboooo Nice to see you're still around and sharing your knowledge. Miss the good ol' days!
So helpful! Thanks!
😀
I greatly appreciate this video man 💯 I still getting used to everything on pc and I’m trying to find the little things to help me feel more comfortable thanks for this helpful video
i love you bro, blessings and greetings from Argentina!...
Today is a happy day, coach Rambo Kim posted a new video and judging from the title I can predict it's going to be another great one
edit: it was great but I wish there was a picture of allu, he has the *worst* posture in all esports 😂 great job again, keep it up!
Great video, but I think you should have talked about monitor size, I play with a 27" monitor, and I don't see myself putting it really close to my eyes like some can do with 24" monitors
I have an Asus VG24VQ, it has a VA panel. I use it perfectly, with the top of it at eye level, tilted upwards. Truly good option if you want 144hz and a good panel, without having to pay the "premium" for an IPS (at least, that is the case in Argentina).
Hi RRK, your videos are awesome. I have a question about eye tracking. So my question is, should I look to my crosshair or to my target when aiming? Thx :)
Just wanted to say that at 2:56 when the light ray directly falls on the Retina blood vessel, it's actually a blind spot for the eye. If the ray falls anywhere else, the brain would detect that perfectly but in this case it does not!
hey there ron! i love your vids. youre the only one who does this type of analysis and its awesome. i have a question, wondering when i should lift my mouse to reset it. ive seen some handcams of pros and they sometimes reset their grip and sometimes not and sometimes pick it up rapidly to like adjust or something. what does it all mean?
Thanks
Your style and explanation are great!
Please make a video about spray control what is considered to be a good control.
I'm not bad up to half of the magazine then it's difficult to control. Not sure if it's enough for good shooting
Google CS:GO recoil workshop maps, they are great for practicing
woooooow man for months i think about that, since i switched from _42" 60hz TV_ to a _24" 240hz monitor_ and now *YOU of all people* post a video to it
im so happy, thank you man :) you are very important m8, much love & respect
Edit: while i did not make clear why you are so important, its cuz you tackle the REAL problems that a gamer might have and give insight into *non-digital details* noone has ever talked about
We think that to play as competitive we need to improve our gameplay and get the eye of esport company. That's not this easy there's a lot other things and these things are made familiar like legendary player and man The Rambo. Thank you Rambo for this channel . Just love from nepal love you❤❤❤
great video! as usual.
😀
Thank you! Man I got a monitor arm today and I can already see how much better I got just by bringing the monitor closer to my face. I always had a problem not using scopes in game like OW for example I drop my accuracy when I switch to hip firing heroes while I'm actually a decent Widow/Ana. I really hope it's not my mind playing tricks on me rn but it's worth the shot for sure.
I know you talked about people changing things all the time and that is why they don't get better, or even get worse. I wanted to ask about mice sizes, do you think there is a specific size that you should go for. I've used G305, Model O, O- and even Viper. I can easily get used to any of them within 2 days. How do I know which one is the right one for me, or is it easy for me because I have everything else (Posture, monitor distance, angle... etc) unchanged? Or is grip king?
Sorry it was a simple question in my head but when I started typing I ended up with this xD
All this confirms is that I don't overthink like ppl say I do. I just think like Rambo ! Get on my wavelength bro.
Another great video 😎
Ty!
Great video I’ve been struggling with this lately my eyes are getting worse lol one day soon I’m going to get lasik
I got lasik done around 10 years ago and it was totally worth it
Nice
This was so fascinating and helpful that i'm here to feed the stupid engagement algorithm.
My Left eye is Blind when I was a baby when I started gaming everybody put doubts on me they're saying that "you don't belong here (Gaming) how can you play by one Eyed only?" But bruh I didn't listen to them I Grind Hard in Every Games doing physical activities but one day the Person who told me I can't do all things because of my Eye Disability Saying sorry at me for Underestimating me the reason why he say sorry because We met in a Csgo tournament we beat them at the Finals by the series of 2-1 lead
I Just realized Nothing is Impossible if you Trust ur Self and Believe ur Self
You have the eye of a sniper.
I wish i can grow as confident as you
Awesome i know this is late but im also blind in my left its blurry but im the same way with gaming
also another reason some competitive FPS players sit that close to their screen is because the firefights are so structured, peripheral vision doesn't matter anymore because most of the time they're shooting at known points of interest/corners...although I imagine sitting that close makes it more difficult if you have to spin around to shoot an enemy.
You deserve more subscribers !
Ty
You da best
True Quality Content.
Inspires me not to be a lazy bum, and write scripts before shooting a video. (Which I assume he does.)
Thanks! I always do script my videos :)
Ron could you make a video about keyboards If they have any influence in your aim and considence
Need a video about the location of the hand on the keyboard. Should the fingers be bent or straight. the brush should lie on the table or should be on weight. This is very important, this affects the control of the player model and the speed of strafe
the ideal is claw position for fingers and a straight hand so you don't have any strain in your muscles
Well, that's true but health wise the further you keep the monitor the better it is for your vision since it reduces the eye strain while on the long term it delays the development of nearsightedness (presbyopia) if you are the type of person who likes to keep the montior close to their eyes I suggest you consult with your eye doctor since glasses can reduce the side effects that develop from this by making glasses similar to the reading ones.
i got a 1home monitor arm from amazon theyre about 25 pounds and seem to work pretty well so id recomend that to some one buying a cheaper monitor arm
Eye level at roughly two thirds from the bottom up, distance equal to the width of the monitor (if 16:9), so 27 inch monitor at about 60cm distance in my case. No tilt. It's all preference really.
Ron Rambo Kim: “Pros and Cons”
My Mom: “Get away from that monitor before your eyes explode!!!”
I don't know if it was intentional, but your profile picture makes me think of National Geographic, which instantly makes you an authority on any topic according to my lizard brain. That said, you might as well be, because your content is fantastic dude, thank you for your work!
sick
Awesome video! Though at 2:54 I unfortunately imagined what a person would look like with that kind of anatomy, I couldn’t stop laughing. Haha!
Hi Rambo,
Love your videos and also been a huge fps gamer for 15+ years
I'd like to make a few comments as i'm an optometrist and I work with a ton of people who have trouble on the computer or knowing what distance is "correct"
There is a simple way to determine the distance at which our eyes are most comfortable. Now this doesn't mean most efficient, just comfortable in terms of the onset of fatigue. Assuming a person has no correction, 20/20 vision then that distance will be based on our ability to focus at an object at near or what we call accommodation. Accommodation is no issue for anyone typically under the age of 40 years old (as presbyopia begins at this age resulting in a slow decrease in our accommodative ability) with some circumstantial cases such as accommodative excess, spasms, or insufficiency. Ideal computer distance should be around arms length, or around 50-60cm (20-22 inches from your face). Why? This is the distance at which we tend to have the least amount of fatigue AND not reducing our visual acuity (objects further are harder to see).
For a near-sighted or myopic individual, their ideal distance at which they can see comfortable is their 1 divided by their prescription * 100. For example, my prescription is -1.50. I'm near sighted. Without my glasses my ideal distance for PERFECT crisp clear vision is 1/1.50 = 0.66 * 100 = 66 cm or slightly further than my arm length. Anyone that has a prescription greater than -3.00 is recommended to wear glasses while on the computer. Why? Because once a person has -3.00 or greater, that person must bring the monitor that much closer. A person with a -3.00 uncorrected must bring their monitor 33 cm away from their face to actually see it clearly. Then the factor of field of view starts playing a role.
For a far-sighted individual, this becomes more of an issue, especially fatigue. Far-sighted individuals suffer the most on computer tasks, especially long hours of gaming. Why? Because far-sighted individuals must accommodate in order to see close objects more than anybody else. For any individual that either wears no glasses (perfect vision) or is slightly far-sighted (at least to the point where they do NOT need glasses for driving) then I would recommend picking up low strength, such as +0.75 reading glasses while on the computer. This would drastically reduce eye strain/fatigue and what we call computer vision syndrome.
It really differs case by case so there isn't any empirical method other than getting an eye exam and explaining your needs but if anyone has questions feel free to ask me, especially if you know your prescription, monitor size or if you suffer from headaches/eyestrain while gaming. There are simple solutions to most of these problems.. Thanks
Thanks for sharing!
Do you have a recommendation for the distance for a far sighted person? I think my vision is 15/20, using a 27" monitor.
When monitor size gets to 30 inch the optimal visual acuity is at points higher than arm’s length. I’m referring to visual acuity for reading fonts. Using separate fixed monitor distance for FPS games is beneficial for sniping and may differ too with very large or curved monitor. I also recommend matching hand size of your character to your real hand size at that distance to get more immersed.
ty mens))
this is never even a question for me without any doubt, i keep it the same distance while i work andgame, i dont see a big advantage , i can still flick well with AWP or OP, can still hit headshots with Vandal and the AK
It highly depends on the size of your monitor, if you have a bigger monitor you'll naturally sit farther away, if the monitor is small you'll sit more closely
Believe it or not, I was about to suggest you this video, but you are 1 step ahead 😂
Ok nice video
I would recommend sitting in your normal position, relax, and close your eyes. Open your eyes and move your monitor so your crosshair is directly where your eyes opened to
No, your crosshair should be a bit lower than your eye level
You are the only other person I have seen online who has the same monitor as me. (Divina Blue XL2546)
id be really interested to see you opinion and break down on the aim and gameplay style of youtuber such as NeoNinja, Relaaa and Nate Gibson. i think that would make for an interesting inside from someone with good knowledge of aiming @Ron Rambo Kim
Ron. Rambo. Kim. what a Legend thx for helping us ;)
👍
Ron can you make a video on why some pros use a different X sensitivity from their Y sensitivity. When I see these players there X sens is usually higher than their Y sens. Ive always wondered why but never seen anyone explain the thought behind it. Thanks.
It's usually so you can do a quick turn, but also be able to more reliably control the recoil of your gun
It depends on what kind of player you are in the team, like your actual role or what kind of guns. All it is, is having low enough sens to have good aim but also high enough to perform your role, like a sniper would never play as high sens as someone who was, say, like an entry fragger in CSGO.
2:56 is an inaccurate anatomical model. Light is not sent to our brain, the rods and cones in our eyes translate the light into signals and then send it to the brain (occipital lobe). The anatomy that he shows us, the endpoint of the light before it leaves the eyes to the brain is actually a blindspot. This doesn't take away from his lessons, its more like a small correction for those who care about anatomy. You can just ignore me.
i will ignore you
I dont remember having a giant eye on my head
you are right
@Rambo I'm curious your fps monitor size and distance to monitor , thanks
Hi, can you make a video about mouse acceleration?
You're a blessing ron. plus im farsighted so how close do you think i sould have my monitor to me?
Hi, can you please make a video about using glasses while gaming and not using glasses. Because I sit close to my monitor because my eyesight is not good and if I wear glasses while playing games my eyes feel very strained and get tired very easily.
Coloque suas traduçoes em portgues, muitos brasileiros adorão esse tipo de video!
6:45 yeah this is outdated now, IPS nowadays also have one of the fastest response times, almost no pro player still uses TN
is there a difference whether you place a small monitor very close or a large monitor further away?
All this channel does is remind me I need a better desk
What was project a like with 3 sites a b and c ?
Arm lenght crew 💪
I sit around 40 cm i used to do like 30 but idk wbat i like better sitting a bit further does feel and look smoother
5:05 that's my one ocd, i cant have the mouse pad falling likethat it has to be flat
I've been in front of screens, books, and games my whole life and I turned out to be far sighted and have esotropic strabismus (my eyes turn in and I get double vision). What's even weirder is that both my parents are very nearsighted. Its like I'm the opposite of what I should be.
Maybe you were adopted or swapped at birth.
Got any plans to talk about FOV?
shaiiko : "hold my beer, this is how u use monitor properly *enter shaiiko mode* "
What is the monitor size for gaming? Pro player from lol or dota or cs use the same monitor size?
3:40 I really like that eye tracking program... Sick name
Having the top of the monitor at eye level makes me feel like I'm looking down
Here on 1 minute! Lets go!
i was just thinking about this the other day wtf
Emm you say you need to stay at that point where you can see the pixels of your corsshair or something, what is you use 4kz and what if you see them far away, should you just keep your monitor distance far away
I feel like that mount should require 2 hands to adjust but it bounces around with even one hand.
here before 1m
:)
I have some eye care glasses that makes my eyes think that the monitor is the same as a wall, it doesn't fatigue or stress my eyes, just my brain
