- Country music star Chris Stapleton is on a nationwide tour for his sophomore album "From a Room: Volume 1." The award-winning musician, who had the best-selling country album of 2016, is also an established songwriter. He speaks with CBS News correspondent Anthony Mason about how it feels to write songs for other artists.

Just when I thought I couldn't love this man more. Humble, genius, artist the list goes on.
I've just started learning just how many songs Chris Stapleton wrote that I fell in love with when I heard other artists sing them. "Your Man", "Drink A Beer", "Come Back Song", just to name a few. I guess I just can't escape this legend.

I always say that about songs I cover.
Songwriters don't GIVE their songs to others. The writer writes for a publisher, the publisher pitches songs to record labels and hopefully they get picked and recorded. The publisher and writer usually own the rights to the song, depends on the contract. Of course writers want their songs recorded, that's how they make a living, its what they do.
