    Kev there’s a reason your getting so much support. You are a breathe of fresh air in the knife review world. Seeing another trade guy who feels genuine and actually tests the products the way I use my knives at work is awesome. You don’t feel like you’re trying to sell my on anything or yelling at people to “use your shit” either. Don’t ever change brother!

    There are a couple companies that use the same style lockbar/ nub detent. BN doesn't have a exclusive rights to it just like nobody has rights to using a ceramic ball detent. Only reate won't put it on any other knife but BN knives. Thats really nice that someone sent you some great knives to check out. Id recommend checking out the eutsler neutralizer as if falls into this same category of knives and has a similar action and blade shape to the cortex.

    After watching this the first thing is said to myself was “damn it I need a cortex” lmao. I love holts. I had a couple and regret selling them but I haven’t ended up grabbing another. Skiff knives on the other hand I can’t get enough of them. The holts are def right there with them though. Cool video though Im so bored of seeing the same we/civivi/kizer/kancept etc constantly on every channel. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

    • @jlanz183
      @jlanz183 9 месяцев назад

      @@doodysdaggers out of the box they have more of a hydraulic controlled drop shut. Def right up there with the best flipper deployments ever. Fit and finish is as good as anything could be. Very similar in a lot of ways to holts but I liked them a little more because they had a little more size and they have very cool blade shapes. The fugitive is one of my favorite knives. I almost bought a second at NYCKS lol

  • @davec3651
    @davec3651 9 месяцев назад

    The build quality looks real special for sure. Skiffs look quite similar in style and quality, but ironically their action doesn't look a nearly as good as this.

    • @chriswebb3018
      @chriswebb3018 9 месяцев назад

      The skiff knives have just as good action as holt or any other knife in this clase. The free fall drop action isn't a indicator of good action and more of a preference. How companies achieve drop shut action is very thin and light pressured lockbars, yes there is more to it but light lockbar pressure is the number 1 reason for drop shut action.

    I strongly dislike this whole new notion where a knife has to be dropped shut in order to be considered part of your best of the best Knives category. That’s like saying something Hass to be a frame lock or has to be a flipper to be considered the best. It’s really just preference as nothing to do with the knife itself. If Chris Reeve wanted to make his knives drop shut, he would have. It’s not like they’re not putting in the work because they don’t want to. It’s simply not intended.

    • @MadMaxx89
      @MadMaxx89 9 месяцев назад +5

      It's "his" best of the best. So ya his opinion on what makes them the best is the only opinion that matters on "his" list. You should form fully fleshed out thoughts before posting whatever pops in your head, it might save you from looking like a crayon eater again

    • @windowbreezes
      @windowbreezes 9 месяцев назад +1

      Sometimes Drop Shut is an indicator of really good tolerance. Im guessing the pivot screw centers the blade dead on with no minor adjustments

    • @LizardKing907
      @LizardKing907 9 месяцев назад +1

      As others have told you it’s a preference. Most wouldn’t consider something on washers grail tier even if it’s smooth. Just as most wouldn’t accept one on an axis lock or a knife with serrations as a grail knife.
      It’s cool that you like CRK’s and consider it of that quality, get used to the fact, that few people think as highly of them any longer.
      I personally will never get one.
      I don’t like the stiff washer action, pocket clip, thumb stud and the weak lock interface. And they just seem overpriced for what is now a premium standard in the knife world.

    • @jlanz183
      @jlanz183 9 месяцев назад

      I don’t think he said that a knife has to be drop shut to be considered part of his best of the best category. I may have missed it but I don’t think Chris reeve or the work he puts into his knives came up. I was waiting for it because I was reading the comments and was expecting to hear something but all I saw was a size comparison. Did I miss something lol

    Also, I’m not sure if you’ve ever had to handle a drop shut knife while your hands were slippery or wet, but it is definitely less than ideal and almost to the point of dangerous. Another thing every single knife on your list is a bearing knife. As you know because you are a welder, these are terrible pieces to carry around because they collect dirt And metal particles which require cleaning much more often. And how do these knives react to 10 or 15 years of hard use. Nobody knows and nobody seems to care because at least they’re cool.
