Elizabeth once told Nathan that being a Mountie was a noble profession. Lucas? A saloon owner? Nathan would be a father to Little Jack. He obviously loves him as well. Lucas, I believe would be and is resentful of Little Jack. He shows no interest in him.

She finally realized she was trying to replace Jack with Nathan. And maybe the feelings Nathan had for Elizabeth were out of obligation. Now Nathan can open his heart to find his one true love. Just like Rosemary, she met Lee, who is really her soulmate.. Jack wasn't. As for Lucas, he'll run the oil business/saloon & will be a respectable gentleman. Elizabeth, him & little Jack will grow together.
