I've been driving now for 46 years. My uncle told me when I got my 1st car at 16, to only use CASTROL OIL. He said it was the best. That was 1975. He was a total car nut like me, he owned Rolls Royces, and Porches, and that's what they alway ran. I have had owned 8 brand new cars, put over 200.000 miles on several of them...and in all the years, I have NEVER had a car with engine issues. I bought a new Trans am in 1994. Has the LT1 ENGINE. I Have kept it all these years because it a blast to drive, and just a great cruiser. It has 338.000 miles on it now, and still runs like new. The engine has never been touched, even the timing chain is original. Its never had synthetic oil, just Castrol GTX 10 30, changed every 3000 miles. I bought a 2021 kia K5 GT LINE with premium package last May. It is GDI with turbo. And requires synthetic, so its getting Castrol Edge.0 wt 20. Nothing will make me change from Castrol products. Why would I?? It has proven itself to me to be a fantastic oil.

Castrol Edge full synthetic is the best oil you can buy at the typical parts store. I say this from experience when I used Mobile One Full synthetic on my turbo car, after watching the car burn through oil really fast, I switched to Castrol Edge GTX and the burning slowed down tremendously! From having to add oil every week I went down to only having to add every 2.5 weeks its a very heat resistant oil. This was in South Florida mind you.

Switch to Amsoil signature series I know you will use much less if any it's been tested to have the least burn off of them all and the greatest wear protection a oil can have! Hands down the best 100% synthetic all the "full synthetic" oils are only conventional synthetic blends because castrol won the court case over mobile 1 that Mobil 1 filed against them because they were using conventional oil base and adding very little synthetic. So the judge ruled in castrol favor.

Oil is not the problem. You have worn out seals or piston rings or you probably didn't change your oil regularly.

@@Jon-O. amsoil is a great oil, unfortunately it’s extremely more expensive then other leading full synthetics, and tricky to find. And realistically speaking, the engine really won’t know the difference from once full syn to another.

@@lukeWiz44 respectfully Luke a full synthetic is a group three highly refined petroleum oil extracted from the ground and extremely cheaper. Where as Amsoil is a completely chemically manufactured lubricant Group four and five not extracted from the ground and every molecule is identical giving the highest film strength and highest wear protection possible. They 100 % synthetic "Amsoil" are 4 to 6 times better than the 25% synthetic content contained in the "full synthetic" oils. And it's why 100% synthetics are so expensive if you compare 100% synthetics the price is within a couple of dollars. Don't compare apples to Oranges.

Castrol is the sole reason today that oil can be called full synthetic and only contain a minimum 25% synthetic component. If your going to buy synthetic it better say 100% synthetic or it's just dressed up dino oil

Synthetic blends are even worse! The blend may contain a small amount of oil that in itself is not a true synthetic. All thanks to Castrol whose actions led to allowing highly refined mineral oils to be sold as synthetics. What a company!

  • @sezwo5774

Thanks for a very informative and well presented video but I am not a great fan of Castrol, ...a company who's actions led in the US to the reclassification of mineral oil (albeit highly refined) as synthetic oil. I consider this to be fraudulent. In countries where synthetic oils are classified as synthetic only when made from synthetic base oils, Castrol is not allowed to call its oils synthetic. In the US where big companies rule society Castrol calls its oils "Fully Synthetic" or "Full Synthetic" with impunity. As far as I know, Castrol does not have a true synthetic oil. It's all basically a fraud initiated by Castrol. Generally speaking Castrol brand oils are not known to be the best among oils. They produce overhyped oils that in tests have a hard time competing with many other brands. Would I buy Castrol oil. Perhaps a mineral oil, yes, but I suspect it is likely also an overhyped product. Perhaps better than a generic brand oil from a "99 cent" store but who knows. There are many inexpensive very good oils, Supertech from Walmart and Kirkland from Costco are my favorites.
