Are you kidding me! I have looked for this for years! When I was a kid I used to listen to this like others on a transistor radio when I went to bed! Before there where TV's in kids bedrooms! I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will go to bed tonight listening to this and remembering my child hood! E G Marshall rocks! Oh by the way it was WGN Chicago that brought it to me!!! Thank you again. You really don't need a TV to enjoy a mystery!!!

When I was a kid, about 10 yrs. old, I had a little transistor radio, and would listen to it, at night, One night I heard, for the first time, a radio drama, it was in fact CBSRMT It was the first time I'd heard a radio drama, and it scared the sh^t! out of me...But, I loved it. The episode was about a man alone in a remote cabin, being terrorized by an invisible, killer monster, it was so well done, I was hooked, and eagerly looked forward to more, I'd love to hear that ep.

Sounds like The Horla by Guy de Maupassant. Check it out, son.

Now, I don’t think the episode you search for is the HORLA. I’m not sure it’s anything I know of-- however I can tell you of an excellent episode that is much similar. I won’t ruin the plot but it’s entitled Yesterday Giant... very very good

@@ML-fm1xs I now know the Title of that particular item to which I heard all those years ago is "The Damned Thing" adapted for radio from a short story with that title written by Ambrose Bierce - An American writer who lived most of his life during the 19th century. The exact date of his death is not officially known. His tales of thrilling suspense and horror did make him to some degree famous. Since "The Damned Thing" left an indelible but enjoyable impression on my mind which had not seen many things at that time (1974) I also now know that I could claim that it is from the Devil I came and to the Devil I shall go.... A conviction I attribute too listening to over 1000- episodes of CBSRMT...That alone is likely to try the tensile strength of anyone's sanity, and shape his mirth with a hint of mischief, However Back to A. Bierce - it is Most known (to anyone else except myself,), of his tales "An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge" is probably his most read or known, Which was also adapted for CBSRMT.

@@ML-fm1xs BTW "The Horla" By Guy De Maupassant - A French contemporary writer of the same period as Bierce - Is in my opinion just a level more terrifying in that Maupassant gave the strange tale a nameless familiar as the antagonist, which in fact does have a title or nomenclature known most commonly as Madness and Dementia, the Succuboid "Horla" not withstanding. To me I have always thought of Guy De Maupassant as The French E.A. Poe.

Mason Adams was the WRONG voice for this one. Sounds like a gum shoe detective stumbled into a time machine.

Okay, the spell-casting is way over-dramatized, but other than that the story is somewhat interesting.
