      That was a very special team that The Phillies had them years. The 1993 team was also very special. I’m 40 yeas old & I was born in 1979 in the city known as Philthadelphia aka Killadelphia & when The Phillies won the World Series in 1980, I cried my eyes out!

    Ryan Howard is the most underappreciated Philadelphia athlete of all-time. His MVP season was one of the most impressive performances I have ever seen. His bat speed, his power to all over the field, his ability to step up in clutch moments...it was truly, truly INCREDIBLE.

    Manny Trillo's triple is anything but obscure. The 1980 Phillies/Astros NLCS is considered one of the greatest playoff series ever. The last 4 of the 5 games went extra innings. In this final game, the Phillies went into the 8th inning down by 3 runs to - of all pitchers - Nolan Ryan. Three dinky hits including a single by Larry Bowa (?), an infield hit by Bob Boone, and a bunt single by Greg Gross were followed by a bases loaded walk to Pete Rose. A ground out by Keith Moreland scored another run, followed by Trillo's triple. However, the game was far from over. The Astros scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game. The Phillies won it in the 10th.

    "He buried it!" --- I was in my kitchen listening to the game in 1980, when I was suddenly going nuts. It's one of those memories that sticks with you forever. I didn't have to be reminded, but it was great to hear it again. One memory I'd like to relive: Phillies-Cubs in 1975-76? Cubs were ahead like 13-1 and I turned the game off in disgust. An hour or two later I just channel surfed back, and the Phils were ahead like 23-22.

    • @stateworker
      @stateworker 2 года назад

      Schmidt's home run there in Montreal is the highest I've ever been as a sports fan, and I was at game 6 in Philly. Watch Tug's leap when he closes out that game. So much purer than the WS leap. That 23-22 game was spectacular. Dave Kingman was a beast.
