in my opinion, the 2011 NLDS Game 5 was the darkest moment in their history. You're the best team in baseball, a game away from going to the NLCS, down 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th. Ryan Howard hits a ground ball out to eliminate the Phils, and tears his ACL. And in that moment, as Ryan Howard falls to the ground in pain, and the Cardinals celebrating in front of all the Phillies fans, you just knew that it was the end of arguably the greatest era in Phillies history. I never have gotten over that game to this day.
JonnyDubs I was at that game and when the Phils were coming up to bat my dad and I left early because they Phillies lack of success led us to the conclusion they were done. I did hear it on the radio however as we drove away from CBP and it's something I'll never forget.
MY FIRST PHILLIES GAME WAS APRIL 23,1961 WHEN ART MAHAFFY STRUCK OUT 17 CUBS AT CONNIE MACK STADIUM. I ATTENDED THE LAST GAME AT CONNIE MACK STADIUM ON THURSDAY,OCTOBER 1,1970 WHEN THE PHILLIES BEAT THE EXPOS 2-1 WHEN OSCAR GAMBLE DROVE IN TIM MC CARVER WITH THE WINNING RUN. I ALSO ATTENDED THE FIRST GAME EVER PLAYED AT THE VET WHEN THE PHILLIES BEAT THE EXPOS 4-1 LARRY BOWA GOT THE FIRST HIT AT THE VET,DON MONEY HIT THE FIRST HOMER AND BOOTS DAY OF THE EXPOS WAS THE FIRST BATTER. JIM BUNNING WON THE GAME. THE BIGGEST THRILL OF MY 57 YEARS AS A PHILLIES FAN HAPPENED ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1980 AT 11:29 P.M. WHEN THE PHILLIES WON THEIR FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. I SHALL NEVER FORGET THAT!
ROBERT STACK That's awesome! My Grandpop worked at Connie Mack Stadium, my Dad met all the old National League greats. The best Phils game Ive been to so far (not in a baseball sense) was when they killed Osama Bin Laden, I was third row behind the Phils dugout. The best game (in a baseball sense) was seeing Doc get his 20th win in 2010. Theyre lookin pretty good so far this year, 6 straight. Hopefully it is something to build on.
Phillies all the way. I've been a Phillies fan my whole life and it's fun to look back at amazing moments mess with the Phillies your messing with die heart fans
I absolutely loved cliff Lee. His attitude, his love of the game, just everything. I remember when he hit his first home run with us, I was jumping around like a kid in my room. He was so freaking good
i always loved watching Cliff Lee. his smooth delivery, his cool demeanor, he could hit and run, he was an actual baseball player. one of my all time favorite baseball players and Phillies
As a Cubs fan I do appreciate the great efforts of the Phillies and the legend of one of the great announcers of all time, Harry Kalas. I once listened to Harry's calls on YT when the Phillies won 23-22 on Mike's homer in the 10th inning - May 17, 1979.
Great collection of highlights. Impossible to get everything but this an excellent sampling. I love that Luzinski plating Rose is in here, the Manny Trillo triple, the Vukovich HR, the Dykstra HR vs. Atlanta, the Schilling complete game in 93 WS... Perhaps the one major event missed is the Mike Schmidt home run in Montreal in the top of the 10th on the second-to-last day of the 1980 season to seal the Division. Also Rose catching the Boone drop in 80 WS (bases were loaded with one out in the 9th at the time). Is there anything more satisfying to watch than the Matt Stairs HR? Two great Carlos Ruiz plays in here - the tag on the end of the Utley play in the WS, and the last out of the Halladay no-no against the Reds in the playoffs. GREAT job. Excellent collection.
Get emotional every time I watch that 2008 team pile on top of each other in front of the mound. That team was unstoppable, the best part was a lot of that core came up in the minors together. The Phillies built that championship team pretty much home homegrown.
1979: Del Unser's 3 run pinch hit HR in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 6-5 after trailing 5-1 entering the 9th was a great game too. It was also the third consecutive HR as a pinch hitter by Del Unser. 3 HR's in his last 3 pinch hit AB's. Harry Kalas went nuts!
Amazing Video. I Love The Phillies. I've been Phillies fan for 7 yrs. considering I'm only 11. Anyway, I showed my entire family this. WE ALL WATCH IT ALMOST EVERY NIGHT.
1980 NLCS. Simply the greatest NLCS ever- bar none. It simply does not get any better, more excruciatingly dramatic than this series. 5 games, 4 go into extra innings. Are you kidding me?!
A great trip down memory lane for this Phillies fan. One moment I think you forgot. Mike Schmidt's game winning home run to win the division in 1980 against Montreal.
Mike was also a Cubs killer especially at Wrigley Field with his 50 career dingers that tied Hank Aaron and Willie Mays for most all time in a single ballpark. And of course I'm a Cubs fan.
Phillies fan for 9 years (and no i did not start liking them when they won the world series), always stuck with them. Its a shame how bad they've become in the last couple of years. Attending games can be interesting, especially with my first game being when cliff lee hit his first ever homerun
Amazing Video. I Love The Phillies. I've been Phillies fan for 7 yrs. considering I'm only 11. Anyway, I showed my entire family this. WE ALL WATCH IT LUKE EVERY NIGHT.
+Entertain Yourself You are welcome, your missing just 8 other great moments if you can find and add them 1. Rick Wise no hitter against Cincinnati Reds 1971 2. Mike Schmidt 1980 homer number 48 against Montreal Expos 3. Tug Mcgraw 1980 same game vs Montreal 4. Garry Maddox catches final out vs Houston Astros 1980 game 5 NLCS, 5. Bob Dernier inside the park home run 1989 vs San Francisco Giants, 6. Mitch Williams basehit at 4:40am vs San Diego Padres 1993, 7. Terry Mulholland 1990 first no hitter vs Giants at the vet and 8. Tommy Greene no hitter 1991 vs Expos
A few other ideas for a sequel besides what Gary already mentioned: the final outs of the Tommy Greene and Kevin Millwood no hitters, Von Hayes hitting 2 home runs in one inning, the last out of the NL East clinching game from 1993, Kim Batiste's walk off single from Game 1 of the '93 NLCS, Pete Rose breaking Stan Musiel's NL hits record
1980 World Series Call by Harry Kalas is heard on video Philadelphia Greatest Moments "65,000 on their feet here at Veterans Stadium, the Tugger needs one more"
Unfortunately he recorded the call after the fact. Home announcers were forbidden from calling the games. That all changed afterwards and Phillies fans complaints were a huge reason. Thank God we got to see and hear Harry's call in 2008. Destiny. '80 vs '08. Tugger #45, Lidge #54. Disgruntled and underappreciated left fielders Bull and Burrell.
U missed the Matt stairs “rips one into the night” pinch hit homerun. I’m biased cuz he’s my cousin but that was a crucial pinch hit to move on post season.
What no Mitch Williams in 93? Greatest Closer ever.. just one bad pitch. The phillies should have won the next game and saved mitch... Irony... Mitch saved phills.. phills didnt save mitch.. Game of inches
Amazing Video. I Love The Phillies. I've been Phillies fan for 7 yrs. considering I'm only 11. Anyway, I showed my entire family this. WE ALL WATCH IT ALMOST EVERY NIGHT.

JonnyDubs I was coming home from a business trip heard it on the radio, to this day I've never seen it and don't plan to
I never thought of it that way😥
Please don't remind me
October 29, 2008- a night I will never forget for the rest of my life!!!

I have loved the Phils since I could watch baseball at a very young age! I am proud to be a phillies fan.
Phillies all the way. I've been a Phillies fan my whole life and it's fun to look back at amazing moments mess with the Phillies your messing with die heart fans
SoggySpy that's so true
Same here even as a Cubs fan. Go Phillies!
I miss Hamels, Utley, Rollins, Victorino, Halladay, all of them in 2008😞
Trafford Hunt Ik I'm pretty sure every philly fan does
Halladay wasn't on the team in 2008
Trafford Hunt I do to. Those players were one of the best on are team and Ryan Howard was awesome on our team
Trafford Hunt they were exciting!
Time to grow up baby
I absolutely loved cliff Lee. His attitude, his love of the game, just everything. I remember when he hit his first home run with us, I was jumping around like a kid in my room. He was so freaking good

Great Memories, Rip Harry Kalas Go Phillies!
I love the Phillies that 2008 season was unbelievable the Roy comes lee comes incredible. Go Phillies!!!!!
I love watching these moments before a new baseball season begins.

Still get chocked up that Cole's last game as a Phillie was a no-no....SOOOOO fitting!!
R.I.P Harry. 2008 Phillies were unstoppable.
Get emotional every time I watch that 2008 team pile on top of each other in front of the mound. That team was unstoppable, the best part was a lot of that core came up in the minors together. The Phillies built that championship team pretty much home homegrown.
I could watch this on a repeating loop all day.
should've included Joe Blanton's home run in the 2008 World Series. That was electric!
Alan Hartman I never thought he would do it
Me and my pregnant wife were at that game!
Didn't he hit two?
Love HK’s call on the Vukovich HR, and of course on the Trillo triple. And Frantzke’s call on the Rollins walk off is great too
1979: Del Unser's 3 run pinch hit HR in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 6-5 after trailing 5-1 entering the 9th was a great game too. It was also the third consecutive HR as a pinch hitter by Del Unser. 3 HR's in his last 3 pinch hit AB's. Harry Kalas went nuts!
Doc, Utley, Rollins, Ruiz, Howard, Victorino, etc childhood
The good days💟
Awesome video, 1980 was my favorite year!
2 things brought me here, the 2007 call winning the east and today being the 9th anniversary of Halladays perfect game
Roy...taken way too soon. RIP
@@cliffengle2897 facts, I forget was he retired before he died?
Yes. Roy Halladay retired primarily due to a bad shoulder and other ailments. He would've made a heck of a coach.
Amazing Video. I Love The Phillies. I've been Phillies fan for 7 yrs.
considering I'm only 11. Anyway, I showed my entire family this. WE ALL WATCH IT ALMOST EVERY NIGHT.
stop spamming the same message you said it like 3 times
you have just stop
I think the Stairs home run will always be one of my favorites. He wanted to send that one to the stratosphere
Yeah, and when the commentators said. Stairs's job is to hit home runs. And than your stratosphere homerun !!!! Great moment !!!!
Thank you for compiling this. So many happy memories in this video.
I'm a Red Sox fan but I absolutely loved the Phillies from 2007-2011. 93 team was fun as well.
I just started watching baseball and I’m thinking about rooting the Phillies
Joe Buck could care less about any of his calls
Alexander Russo Fuck Joe Buck, and that Jagoff Aikman while we're at it
Mike Schmidt's 11th inning homerun off Stan Bahnsen in the next-to-last-game of the 1980 season was epic. It belongs in this highlight footage.
Ah! Great memories of Philadelphia.
I was alive for most of this…..and I miss harry the most
watched the whole game cole hamels pitched was amazing. thank you for this vid
No problem thank you for watching!
Those were the best of them love this!!!!
Thank you!
1980 NLCS. Simply the greatest NLCS ever- bar none. It simply does not get any better, more excruciatingly dramatic than this series. 5 games, 4 go into extra innings. Are you kidding me?!
09:30 This Crowd Went Crazy
RIP Dallas Green
A great trip down memory lane for this Phillies fan. One moment I think you forgot. Mike Schmidt's game winning home run to win the division in 1980 against Montreal.
Mike was also a Cubs killer especially at Wrigley Field with his 50 career dingers that tied Hank Aaron and Willie Mays for most all time in a single ballpark. And of course I'm a Cubs fan.
Not to mention 4 dingers in one crazy game at Wrigley!
To this day, I have no idea how that double by Burrell in the World Series didn’t get out. He absolutely crushed it.
Best video I watched on here in a while
Thanks!
Phillies fan for 9 years (and no i did not start liking them when they won the world series), always stuck with them. Its a shame how bad they've become in the last couple of years. Attending games can be interesting, especially with my first game being when cliff lee hit his first ever homerun
9:43 thx for not using the joe buck commentary🙂🙂
but u can't hear the crowd :/
Jadenn.Walkerr does that really matter tho. At least your nit listening to joe buck
cliff Lee was the man in that 09 world series. can't believe it's been almost 10 years since we won the series.
He should've started game 4 against CC...not Blanton...we win if Cliff starts...Manuel cost us another ring
I loved seeing that no-no
Max Reiter haha
Man.. I watched them during that 30 year ride, 1980 - 2010.. now I don't know any of them😣
Amazing Video. I Love The Phillies. I've been Phillies fan for 7 yrs.
considering I'm only 11. Anyway, I showed my entire family this. WE ALL WATCH IT LUKE EVERY NIGHT.

Even though I've never been a Phillies fan, I have nothing to badmouth the franchise.
Watching this I wish I could hear Harry Kalas call one last game.
