I don't think its very confusing that more of the general public are listening to this people who are supposedly " normal " are increasingly attracted to things that are disturbing ie serial killer documentaries ,shows on Netflix plus without sounding like a dumb ass take a look around at the world as of late its a fucking mess, that being said i actually like this band and this lp and their ep,s the music and lyrics are really good however while it's somewhat cathartic to listen to, to a point its also extremely disturbing i can't listen to this every day but thats kind of the point of good art its supposed to elicit a response from those consuming it and lets be honest whether someone is into sludge metal or noise rock or whatever you'd like to call chat pile the music will definitely elicit a response good or bad lol

I feel so lucky to have played on the same stage as these guys. Us Oklahomans don’t have much going on outside of country in our music scene, so having these guys repping the OK underground makes me very very happy. This album encapsulates how it feels to have the views these guys do in a state who’s political system completely goes against them. I love Chat Pile.

Had the immense pleasure to see these guys live with Lingua Ignota last month and the lead singer talked about his fascination with horror films and how influential they are. "Pamela" is literally the story of the first Friday the 13th lol. Also anyone who ends up digging Chat Pile's work has to see them live. Their bass is on another level in a live setting
If you enjoy this I heavily recommend Streetcleaner by Godflesh, it pioneered this sludge noise sound that has recently gotten popular in metal, also the album sounds like terminators stomping you to death while the world gets nuked, so that's a good time
Chat Pile is kinda like if Godflesh was made up of sketchy dudes that hang out next to dingy 7/11’s that talk to themselves and probably snort bath salts
Related to that, I'd recommend the first couple Jesu projects, which is Justin from godflesh. The first album in particular sounds like mixing godflesh with shoegaze. It's beautiful and intense.

I’m from OKC and have played a show with these guys here! The front cover is the county jail down here in downtown OKC, I pass by it everyday on my way to school. What I really love about Chat Pile is how they capture EXACTLY what it’s like to live in Oklahoma. Yes, it’s really that bad, even worse than Ohio. Either way, Super cool to see some of my peers in the local okc music scene making it big!!
glad you liked this! in some interview i remember the vocalist referred to the band as a "cultural trash compactor," which after examination of the lyrics makes a lot of sense. personal favorite examples include ratboy and crawlspace from the this dungeon earth ep
I love deathcore and extreme metal, this was one of the heaviest and scariest albums I have ever experienced. absolutely doom filled. Its like being covered in poison chemicals in a dark cramped factory.
Agreed. It's like the audio equivalent of watching the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Awful, dusty, wrong. Most metalcore etc. reminds me more of the Saw franchise.

I loved this A LOT. If you liked this, especially the dark angry suicidal lyrics, I would HIGHLY recommend Buster by Admiral Angry. My favorite song off of it is Plastic Bath, the drums are just fucking massive and the screams are utterly insane.
Having found Chat Pile through Bandcamp in like 2019-2020 I’m so glad they’ve blown up like they did! I criminally replayed Remove Your Skin Please because that project has some of the most depraved and incoherent vocals I’ve ever heard, like Dallas Beltway. Well worth a listen ✌🏻
The mask is so incredibly disturbing and eerie as its about a dude who robbed and executed employees at a restaurant here in okc called sirloin stockade in 1978. Hence him screaming it over and over. Had the amazing pleasure of catching these dudes locally and it was such a good show. Just as disturbing live, but they're rly cool dudes. Stoked you dug the album. Their other eps are great too.
Love this album and it's legitimately something I simultaneously love getting lost in those screams and the lyrics. They're really damn dark and listening to the lead singer weave in and out of agonizing yelling into this like drunken tired stupor just really unsettles me. It's like he's having a mental breakdown (about some pretty meaningful stuff too) and there's a band just there to play music on whatever he wants to go off on.
This is the only time I've stopped listening to an album because I couldn't understand how it was making me feel. Just the first track is so fucked after it finished I was just standing in my kitchen for a few minutes trying to process it
As a fan of sludge. And I love me some dark, depressive, angry, dirty atmosphere in a album hits me in the soft spot. This is honestly the best kind of music for alot of angry folks who want something more than your typical death/metalcore songs. This band could be my favorite modern metal bands I actually dig. This is incredible. It has so much noise and anger. It's beautiful

This album reminds me of Yodh by Mizmor. It consists of 5 tracks that span about an hour and combines doom metal with black metal. When just listening to it without songtext on, the vocals sound like primal cries of despair. It's great.
I listened to the first track, it reminds me of Ethereal Shroud and Wolves in the Throne Room which was cool. It sounds like the guitars are tuned to A or lower, which is cool because you don't see a lot of black metal bands going that low. I'm not really into the drone/ambient elements though. I think you'd like Trisagion by Ethereal Shroud, it's three tracks and runs for an hour, but it also combines doom with black metal.
the song slaughterhouse reminds me a lot of the song horse latitudes by the doors. it's a spoken word poem by jim morrison about a ship stuck out at sea forced to jettison their cargo- horses. it's gutwrenching on first listen, hearing the screams of horses as they're pushed overboard and drowned

I want Brad to listen to The Dark Bleeding. Its a Blackened Noise EP by Emit and it also has this weird popularity online. Despite nothing else from Emit even being known by fans of The Dark Bleeding.
The okc scene has blown up the past few years. Chat Pile, Cursetheknife, Downward, Black Magnet, Money, and Mad Honey are all amazing. They often do shows with amazing Texas bands too. It's kinda like a shared scene. I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life and I haven't been this excited and inspired by my state's music in forever.

I saw them play with Lingua Ignota at the Stanley Hotel a couple weeks ago and it was incredible. Go see them.

The okc scene has blown up the past few years. Chat Pile, Cursetheknife, Downward, Black Magnet, Money, and Mad Honey are all amazing. They often do shows with amazing Texas bands too. It's kinda like a shared scene. I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life and I haven't been this excited and inspired by my state's music in forever.
