Geez you went above and beyond checking out all the other Lantern related books for this video. That’s a lot of extra work and I definitely appreciate it!
I think it's pretty clear that Sorrow Lanterns are going to have "stages". Much like Red Lanterns must take a dip in the blood lake to receive their sanity and reason (such as it ever was) back. Perhaps even go full tilt with additional stages progressing into "other" Lanterns. Like once the Sorrow has processed, a Sorrow Lantern becomes the "joy" Lantern someone else mentioned. Don't forget, yeah Nate is the "first Sorrow Lantern" but he's only the first one...WE'VE SEEN. Last thing I'll mention Dan. Pay attention to the Sorrow Lantern lettering. Both in that final reveal and in the next time we see Nate coming up. There's something very familiar about that lettering. And no I'm not being vague to sound clever. I HONESTLY have no idea what it is, but I KNOW I recognize it and that it's telling me something that will allude to a greater connection. I just can't remember where I last saw that lettering...
I just recognized where I've seen the lettering/font used by the Sorrow Lantern. We see it when we see the Presence speak in the DCU. Most recognizably (for me) from the Phantom Stranger series of the New 52 (see a recent Tweet I'm about to post with examples)
FINALLY. I have been waiting for what feels like forever for the Sorrow Lantern to be covered. Honestly, I kinda love it-conceptually at least. I’m not huge on how he was used in his next appearance, the powers were shown in a way that made me feel like Sorrow won’t be a power that a hero will use in any ongoing way. I think Sorrow will end up being a power, like Ultraviolet, that is more of a threat that might appear occasionally. Which don’t get me wrong, can be cool, but that isn’t really what I want. If we are shaking up the emotional spectrum then I would really like to see any new emotions have the range of depth and versatility that the other main emotions have. But of course I’m saying all of this after seeing one example of a Sorrow Lantern in action, so I could easily be proven wrong and the power could be more than a quirky source of conflict. Here’s hoping it becomes an emotion that can actually be wielded effectively by a long term hero or villain
I've been waiting for the Sorrow Lantern since the advent of the Emotional Spectrum. As you pointed out, there's grief and despair in the backstory of almost every comic book character. Someone wielding this emotion as a weapon is a very tantalizing storytelling tool. His first battle showed promise too. I can't wait to hear your take on that.
I think for a person to be a sorrow lantern they need to be confident at being vulnerable like that and maybe the sorrow lantern would choose you if you kept bottling up your sadness.
I hope the sorrow lanterns actually get fleshesd out and If there is going to be a joy lantern then it should also be Nathan since when person is completely done crying they feel a lot better or maybe thats just me. Do you think the sorrow lantern will be able to decay stuff and heal itself since crying is supposed to help u threw stressfull moments if so then the joy lantern could heal everything around but decay itself or maybe something completely different.
Dang, there was some guy on FB GL group who came up with a version of a “Sorrow” Lantern Corps couple years back or so and I don’t remember his design for the Corps but the idea was always there because it is an emotion that hasn’t been explored before among others that hasn’t been explored before. I’m looking at you “Happy” or “Joyful” corps. I am guessing since the emotional spectrum is all out of whack you will have perhaps more of these types of emotions not yet explored come into being perhaps.
Happy and joyful kinda have been explored, but I’ve heard it’s kinda in a weird almost non canon place. The future green lanterns apparently become these gold lantern guys and while I think they say they incorporate all emotion, it also seems they always need to express joy. I’m not an expert on it, just know they exist and they kinda acknowledge how insane that idea would be as there is only one gold lantern actually
Okay, so if Waller knows Hal's name, it is safe to assume she has a dossier of his life and detailed intelligence of the Green Lantern corp. So her plan is to scare Hal with torture? A guy who is an USAF fighter pilot turned test pilot before becoming a GL, a job that requires fearlessness and the greatest willpower a space sector can muster? 8 out of 8 billion humans hold that title currently and Hal is considered the greatest of them all in their billion year history. And she tries to use fear to get him to cooperate? That's Lex Luthor level of arrogance making you stupid right there🤣
I love how Carol, as a Star Sapphire, helped bring the Sorrow Lantern into existence, since one of the two ways to get recruited into the Star Sapphire Corps is to have great pain in your heart. Great sorrow.
I think Nathan's self entitlement was the sorrow entity starting to seep into him and change how he thinks since before he was always supportive and never even saw Hal as a threat back when they first met despite hearing about him and how he acted. I at least hope Nathan is good at heart and just being altered the same way other entities do that to other hosts lol
Your question about why they dance around telling readers Sinestro is following a GL trail or that GLs destroyed the central battery most likely due to accounting non GL readers.
I'm not super excited for this run of Green Lantern. I just want this storyline to be done, all the different Corps and Central Batteries restored, and for the various Corps to go deal with other threats aside from losing their powers all the time. Also, now that Razer is around, I want them to bring in Aya as well

Sinester Son is a clone of Sinestro.
He can channel whatever power Sinestro is yielding.

Sorrow lanterns should also be able to shoot their tears like bullets
So.... binding of Isaac? 😏
When can I start buying my sadness Lantern Corps merch?
As The Grand Priest of The Temple of the Algorithm, I bless this video with a comment.
