No purchases, No Jeep. They have missed there opportunity to sell their cars to people that want them. Prices are too high for the average Jeep owner. What were they thinking?
If electric cars are not the future of cars, it just means that cars have no future. You cannot reach net zero in 2050 without banning new ICE cars before 2035.
Stellantis would love for the UAW to go on strike as it actually helps stellantis. Employees on strike means you don't have to pay them and at the same time they can get rid of their super high inventory since no new cars are being built.
Jeep should've never changed the Wrangler from the TJ. You could still find stripped down, bare bones, entry level Jeeps back then. Since the 2010s, the majority of Jeeps now are all stuffed to the gills with options, driving the price higher and higher.
I don't know anyone, who wants an electric car. I do know people who regret getting electric cars. Everyone else wants small, simple, fuel efficient, functional trucks, and utes. Also making it impossible to work on your own vehicle.
America is not the world. Americans maybe slow to adopt evs but not in other parts of the world. Like Asean, Brazil, Gulf countries or even down under. In the largest car market in the world China, 50% of their total car sales are evs and set to increase.
@@kamsunleong6648The limitations of EVs and the unreliability of the electric grid will suppress EV uptake in Latin America for decades. I doubt that it will ever take off.

June 2021, Click2Houston reported that over 6.5 million ICE vehicles were under recall because they could catch fire at any moment.
I think car manufacturers are working under a false precept as the people who want electricity vehicles have already bought them. For most of the rest of the people EV's don't make sense or are completely useless for their needs. Having a car company talk about wanting a EV at regular car prices, what it really is is vehicles that are less capable sometimes to the point of not being fit for purpose while at the same time demanding a premium for it.
I have an idea? Get rid of the Union, they're no good , I made the mistake of joining the UAW back in the 1980's .. I'll never make that mistake again ..
@@Head-c3nknucklehead, there are labor laws now that cover work conditions. Employees can still go on strike without a corrupt union. Why would anyone want to govern 0% of their check to a union?
You can make EVs the same price of a regular priced car and people still won’t buy them! THAT is the problem these manufacturers and governments just can’t seem to understand. You can’t change stupid!
It is not the problem of the cars. It is the problem of the lack of infrastructure being in place, being fast enough and actually working to supplant gas stations. Not to mention, the so called "Fast Chargers" are not exactly competing for business with "convenience" stations that have not just gas, but expensive snacks and misc. other things you can get while on the road. Where as the "Fast Chargers" don't have any of that, let lone over head covers, windshield cleaner stations and the most important thing, restrooms while you sit and wait on the charge.(should the charger actually work) So, EV's can exist IF the owner has a garage or someplace convenient to charge up over night and does not extend the trip past the point they cannot get back home. Which is not every person on the globe obviously.
A production shutdown would be bad for the union and good for the company. With so much unsold inventory, they need to stop production anyway. The company cannot survive without selling overpriced vehicles but no one wants their overpriced vehicles. The outlook is very bad….
What kills me is that the government is willing to shovel $1,000,000,000 to Stellantis to build more poor quality, overpriced vehicles, when for 10% of that, they could fund Aptera who are on the verge of producing state of the art solar-electric cars priced between approx $27K - $40K.
Here is the problem the big bosses at companies make the "strategic" decisions that run them into the ground, but they are not the ones who suffer from it. No they have their golden parachutes and what not, but the workers have no parachutes at all, and they are the ones that have to bear the brunt of any belt tightening.

How many people does this guy think can afford a $75,000 to $100,000 + truck? With tons of layoffs and the cost of groceries, and everything else going through the roof the last thing they're thinking about is a luxury car or truck. The car/truck manufacturers and dealers see that average folks are really struggling economically so they think well, this is a good time to really screw them over. The point everyone should remember is that the people at the top of these organizations making these decisions really don't have any skin in the game. No matter if cars/trucks sell or don't sell, they will be just fine. They can take their unjustifiable huge earnings back to their mansions and never have to work again.
What does it matter? If the dealerships are sinking? They did it to themselves all of them. The car manufacturers to dealerships with ridiculous prices that nobody can afford
That should be reassuring for the folks I saw broke down in their new Grand Cherokee L this morning. Stopped to see if they needed help, they had already called for a tow truck for their SUV with 7300 mile on it. Real quality there Stellantis
I bought a 1988 Jeep Cherokee 2 door 4 cylinder new in '88 for $19,300. Still looks great. My son drives it now, put 24,000 miles on it last year. Jeeps these days lose half their value driving off the lot. Like a lot of things these days, things cost way more than they're worth.
It all sums up to one word: GREED. Waiting for other manufacturers to feel the pain because supply far exceeds demand. It's long past time for the law of supply and demand to start dropping prices drastically.
The Other Problem,Who Gave The Government The Permission To Get Involved,With Sellantis. And Where Is The Government Getting The Money,So Are They Printing Money Again?
2021 4Xe is always under recall & unsafe to drive or sell. Thankfully, Nebraska Lemon Law has us getting our money back. Not sure what Jeep owners in other states will do?
There is no reason for me to worry about Stellantis I would not have one if you gave it to me. Reality they build crappy cars and trucks. Always have always will if they even stay in business. From engines that turn into bricks to automatic transmissions that burn up Paint jobs that often flake off within 2 years. producing shit cars and then trying to sell them at gucci prices does not work. They killed the golden goose and the US tax payer is getting to pay the price for a company that likely will go belly up in a year
When Jeep was part of AMC they were great & reliable with an inline 6 engine.Wranglers are supposed to be rugged, not filled with unreliable electronics at a high price hardly anyone can afford.
I don’t feel sorry for the dealerships. They had no problem adding thousands of dollars in markups because some customers didn’t have a choice due to low or no inventory.
I see this as multifaceted. That is, folks are used to "luxury" vehicles, electric everything, in other words, feature creep, size creep, SUV creep, the auto manufacturers were glad to give them all this, then price creep also ensues, now, the average mid sized sedan runs 40K-60K a piece on average, with little to no small vehicles available for those of us that prefer small vehicles to be had, that also cost 20K-25K or so. Add in dealers trying to tack on features and prices to vehicles and it's a wonder that a basic standard cab truck is available for $40K these days as they are all luxury vehicles with crew cabs costing 60K+. The Government insisting on EV's as if it's a panacea to everything that's wrong and banning gas based heat/cooking even in many states is putting the cart before the horse as electricity is not everything, especially right now with our electric grid being what it is. I think we all have lost sight of things, and with politics being what it is at the moment, prices being what it is, it's a wonder folks are not buying. Add in rust in states that are in the rust belt, forcing folks to replace cars every 5-8 years as frames rust out, is not helping anything. I'm glad I don't live in the rust belt. I drive a car that's over 20 years old, still solid, has over 200K on it and going strong as I can't afford to replace it at the moment, so I just keep up on the maintenance and repair it as it needs it.
I used to work for jeep dealership. I worked In service and trust me you have no idea on how cheep these cars are and trash. I can’t say too much but you don’t want those issues.
I bought a 1946 Jeep in 1979 put a 1964 Falcon motor in it and it still goes ! Parts are not a problem and anyone can fix them .The Dealers hate it when the owners service their own vehicles ! A dealer wanted to charge me $160 just to plug in his Analyser to get a read out of possible causes for why the Chinese made car won't start .
The solution is simple the car company has to have a fire sale and sell every vehicle in inventory at fire sale prices then the factories can continue building vehicles. Yes the company will not make revenues but it will continue to build vehicles, otherwise it’s game over and still factories and no inventory completely.
If the union workers go on strike, wouldn't that be counter productive? They might lose their jobs already. I would think that It would be alot easier for Stellantis to shut a plant down when the employees aren't working, like during a strike.
So Stellantis sabotages FCA because they wanted the company to go bankrupt since they couldn't just buy Jeep and Ram brand from FCA alone. Worst than what Mercedes did.
Neighbor of mine worked Chevrolet for 17years, then went to a ram Jeep Chrysler dealer. He said the Grand Wagoneer was one of the biggest POS he’s ever seen. Problem after problem, meanwhile you just paid $100k plus for this junk vehicle.
Stellantis is in a death spiral with no escape. Certainly they have too many brands, but none of them can be saved. In ten years there will be no ICE cars, and Stellantis is nowhere in the transition to electric vehicles. A UAW strike is something that Stellantis should urgently hope for, as it will reduce its costs and unsold inventories. Remember when Kodak and Fuji owned the whole photography business with their expertise in film, developing, and photographic paper? Now all of that antiquated technology is worthless. Remember Block Buster Video in the time before Netflix? This is the fate of Stellantis and most of the legacy car makers.
Stellantis sells Ram and Jeep badged vehicules on other countries which are cheaper. So, yes they might close their plants in the USA, but will keep making them for other markets. This are two of their best and most recognizabled "brands" in the world.
If I am spending 100K? I’m definitely not spending that on a Jeep! I’m going to get a Mercedes or something else in the luxury market! Jeep is NOT the luxury market!😂
I'm not buying a Jeep OR a Mercedes. I'm buying three nice used vehicles that are reliable and don't take a fortune to fix (they're out there). People waste soooo much money on new vehicles that cost way too much and no young dealer mechanic knows how to work on. Just because they have power windows and a back-up camera. I still drive my (upgraded) 1968 Ford Falcon daily with no problems. It looks like shit, drives like a school bus with the 3-speed manual and a 200 CI 6, but it turns more heads here than any Wagoneer. My wife, however, drives the 2020 Lincoln Corsair.
Stellantis is squandering its brand and has no new product development, no replacement, for the Charger or Challenger and the FIAT GROUP is floundering now in Europe.
To hell with dealership and especially Jeep dealerships, every last one of them are thieves. From their $225.00 an hour+ labor cost, their used cars that are sold at 300% above wholesale (for what they paid for the car) and the planned obsolescence junk new vehicles on their lots. These companies and their dealerships did this to themselves with their greed, I don't feel sorry for any of them going out of business.
They might as well forget EV's when BYD can sell them for $10K. Even with the 100% tarrifs they still can't compete. Yes they need to go back to basics and mothball non profitable plants and sell off inventory at fire sale prices. The union is going to have to swallow the bitter pill and can forget any demands. We all need to ask why is this CEO still in command?
BYD do not export anything for $10k. Typically more expensive than a Tesla in Europe. "BYD Atto 3 ranged from 81% to 174% higher than in China. Dolphin prices ranged from 39% to 178% higher, and Seal prices from 30% to 136% higher." Tesla Model 3SR in Germany $43,707 - BYD Seal $48139. Reuters April 26, 2024.
Got rid of the v8 and focused on tech and lots of features nobody needed. If I want a sunroof I need to spend 10k in options for a 1200 buck sunroof. Now I gotta pay sales tax on that extra 12k
In my country dealers do not stockpile brand new cars. Here, people go to a car dealer and order a (expensive) personalized configuration from the catalog, waiting 3-12 months for the car. If demand is low the slow down the assembly lines, so there never are brand new cars stacked at dealers as inventory. As used cars are far too expensive too and the fees for long-term rentals have heavily increased last year, the only way to get a reasonable prices car is to look for a pre-registered bargain deal. What currently looks like a good deal is to lease a Jeep Avenger for 180 € a month. I do not not know the nasty fine-print of the contract, but that is ~3000 $ fixed costs and below the cars depreciation ...

STELLANTIS just needs to sell the company back to Frank Rhodes Jr like he offered to buy
He doesn't have the money.
True
I love it. Dealers have been ripping us off for years. 😮
Part of the problem is that Dodge Jeep Chrysler and Stellantis thought that poor people were going to continue getting “free government money”…. The Directors and the greedy unions got greedy
Probably what will happen is Stalantis will leave the North American market and no one will be working at Stalantis .
Tavares will simply take the brands and move them all to Europe. He does not care if it hurts our country, our workers, or removes historical American made brands from here.
Stellantis needs to sell Jeep back to the USA. $100k for a Grand Wagoner is just way too much. Good product will create sales, but people will still need to purchase those cars. No purchases, No Jeep.
They have missed there opportunity to sell their cars to people that want them.
Prices are too high for the average Jeep owner. What were they thinking?

With those prices yes, they'll go out of business. Ceo and uaw doomed them
Stellantis would love for the UAW to go on strike as it actually helps stellantis.

I do know people who regret getting electric cars.
Everyone else wants small, simple, fuel efficient, functional trucks, and utes. Like the mid 90s Ranger, S10, and Blazer. None of this ridiculous luxury electronic crap like, rear cameras, proximity censors, or whatever the freak else they stuff in there, to jack the price up.
Also making it impossible to work on your own vehicle.
Rear view cameras are necessary on way too many newer vehicles because of the latters' piss-poor blind spots

Best selling vehicle in the World is a BEV.
Consumer Reports this year found Tesla to be the cheapest brand to own over 10 years.
German ADAC found BEVs to be least breakdown call outs for cars.

“No fire onboard a ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) or PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier) has been proven to have been caused by a factory-new EV”. The International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI).

JEEP is failing and it's not just the Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer. It is the price bump of the Wrangler, too. The brand managers need to be fired.
Let them go out of business with Ford and Gm.

Government want people switch from ICE to EV before 2030. Now maybe 2035.
The trailer parks definitely won't be buying them. I see them left and right in my area.

That stupid union is playing right into their hands.
Remember, there's the USMCA trade agreement with Canada, Mexico and the US. Manufactures can shift expensive manufacturing to Mexico without penalty.
Many people predicted this was going to happen.
Temporally!
What kills me is that the government is willing to shovel $1,000,000,000 to Stellantis to build more poor quality, overpriced vehicles, when for 10% of that, they could fund Aptera who are on the verge of producing state of the art solar-electric cars priced between approx $27K - $40K.
There’s no market for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge outside of US, it so small it’s a jock. Don’t know why Fiat bought them in the first place.
I saw a dealership with a dozen grand wagoneers all lined up in front with a 100k sticker on each one like they were proud of the price!
Crisis? No, this is what Stellantis wants to do and NOT for their customers who cannot affort 100k vehicles. 😮
If I were dropping $100K on an SUV, anything Chrysler would at the bottom of my wish list.
Here is the problem the big bosses at companies make the "strategic" decisions that run them into the ground, but they are not the ones who suffer from it. No they have their golden parachutes and what not, but the workers have no parachutes at all, and they are the ones that have to bear the brunt of any belt tightening.
Yep, we were looking for a luxury SUV and my neighbor suggested Jeep and Dodge...lol my wife and I said NO that's not a luxury brand and there's a reliability issue.
So we upgraded from a 2014 Toyota Highlander to a 2024 Cadillac XT4(the 2024 highlander drove the same and is pretty much the same chasis and interior so it's boring).
The Cadillac XT4 has no turbo lag that I can feel. Every other car that I test drove had turbo lag, whether short or long...Mercedes GLC300 (least turbo lag), BMW X3 (a little more turbo lag), Porsche Macan S (even more turbo lag), Honda (way too much turbo lag).
The Cadillac has these features that RUclipsrs miss:
- lighted logo behind the dashboard
- pulsating safety seat (most cars only beep)
- left behind child in the rear seat alert
- capless fuel tank (like my 2017 Corvette C7 )
- umbrella storage in the doors (like Rolls Royce)
- active noise cancellation (like my 2017 Corvette C7 with Bose)
- power passenger seat with lumbar
- free 5G hotspot
- stop/start feature is the smoothest I’ve ever experienced that I don't even notice it.
My other car is a 2017 Corvette Stingray in stickshift.
You must be fun at parties.
You know who else gets caught in this mess ??? The NEW OWNERS of any of these vehicles... With UAW On Strike, NO SPARE PARTS are being built either. So anyone who suffers the MISFORTUNE of needing replacement parts is ALSO SCREWED.
Some Insurance companies are TOTALING cars because it is CHEAPER to total it, 😵💫 than pay for car rentals while waiting for replacement parts to become available from STELLANTIS !
The video repeats itself again and again and again. Is any one home???
A few years ago a coworker bought a long body jeep for less than $35000 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
60k for a pickup. Give me a break! fkg ridiculous

That pretty much sums it up. How to kill an iconic brand? By asking premium prices for crap.
PEOPLE WANT RELIABLE AND AFFORDABLE CARS 👏🏻👏🏻
It’s that simple.
I don’t feel sorry for the dealerships. They had no problem adding thousands of dollars in markups because some customers didn’t have a choice due to low or no inventory.
Easiest fix is to force the dealerships to sell cars without the crazy markups and inflated prices
Government bail outs AGAIN!
A simple survey of the average American's income would tell Fiat/Dodge/Jeep that their pricing strategy was not sustainable.
Screw the UAW too.
I used to work for jeep dealership. I worked In service and trust me you have no idea on how cheep these cars are and trash. I can’t say too much but you don’t want those issues.
"With a pocket full of cash and a tank full of gas, you're free. With electric vehicles and digital currency, you're controlled."
Hopefully they’ll go completely under with no bail out this time. Do not bail them out. They need to figure this out all by themselves.
The solution is simple the car company has to have a fire sale and sell every vehicle in inventory at fire sale prices then the factories can continue building vehicles. Yes the company will not make revenues but it will continue to build vehicles, otherwise it’s game over and still factories and no inventory completely.
UAW I think is a scam! I think that's why the price is so expensive of these vehicles!
They thought that by raising prices on Jeep while still selling average quality vehicles that they would suddenly be Land Rover.
RIP Jeep
The real problem with electric cars is charging time, battery life and high cost - indeed the shovel is more than the dirt they are moving.
It's the upkeep too. Those new cars are way too expensive to buy and maintain.
Just looked at new cars nationwide that are 2018-2022. There are quite a few new cars that are considered new and 5-6 ears old.
This CEO is the prime example of THE PETER PRINCIPLE maxed out.
I’m not seeing a lot of the $100K Jeeps but I’m still seeing them on the road.
After 2 years of taking advantage of the consumer. Marking up prices above MSRP. It's time to see discounts.
Dolphin prices ranged from 39% to 178% higher, and Seal prices from 30% to 136% higher."
Tesla Model 3SR in Germany $43,707 - BYD Seal $48139.

I'm making over 250k a year and I still refused to buy anything over 30k. Insurance is a scam also.
I, for one, do not care if the UAW goes on strike. They can go from the picket line to the unemployment line. Unions have out lived their usefulness.
European car manufacturers need to see this and learn. They are next
Got rid of the v8 and focused on tech and lots of features nobody needed. If I want a sunroof I need to spend 10k in options for a 1200 buck sunroof. Now I gotta pay sales tax on that extra 12k
They need to quit pushing EV's that no one wants to buy and start selling 20k vehicles. Simple but reliable.
