does the duck head or any part of thar touch the outside of the rim?? the reason why I ask is because I recently had my 3rd set of tires mounted on my PVD COATED 18" WHEELS on my Ford escape and when I got my car back, I no5cied that on all 4 wheels the pvd coating was scratched or flaked off. the mechanic denied he damaged the rims even though it was obvious since they were never damaged before. as mentioned I have had my tires replaced 2 previous times and.never had this issue. would you be able to tell me how this would have happened or what he or the machine did to scratch the coating off the out edge.of all of my rims. FYI. I ended up keeping one of the older tires I had before the new ones were put on and I also noticed and pointed this out to the tech that some of that coating og the left front wheel was on that tire as well. he still denied he did damage even after that.
Duck head should NEVER touch the rim if adjusted properly, thus not allowing any scratching of the rim. Unfortunately a really common mistake that results in scratching.
At Sam's Club we always put the valve core back in before inflating to seat the bead and had no issues. If we had an issue on a larger narrow tire maybe like a Dually we would use a Cheetah air blaster to shoot air in while pushing the lever for the air in the valve stem.

Also when u installing the tire get use to using the bar by pushing down not your hands because if its a low profile tire.. 1st it be easier, 2nd you won't injure your hands...

When seating the bead the rim needs to be clamped in place to allow the user to lift up or push down to assist the bead in sealing. Also, the 4 jets that blast air from the turn table clamps would not be aimed at the proper point (edge or rim/bead of tire) and might even knock the tire off the machine. After the tire has sealed to the rim and beginning to inflate then yes, it must be released. If you watch at about the 9:18 mark I do release the rim and continue inflating it. Thanks for the comment!
Drastic Skillz you must not know much then considering you said “pump a tire up” do you work at a tire shop?😂 cause you must not have known the machine has blaster to help seat the bead WHILE it’s on the machine.
So the air pressure pushes the bead into he rim? No glue or other factors that hold it in place? I always thought there was more to it bc tires don't seem to failure that often....Also, I don't know why I'm here.

After the tire has sealed to the rim and beginning to inflate then yes, it must be released. If you watch at about the 9:18 mark I do release the rim and continue inflating it. Thanks for the comment!
Drastic Skillz Nothing’s wrong with that, I do it all the time.
Drastic Skillz you must not know much then considering you said “pump a tire up” do you work at a tire shop?😂 cause you must not have known the machine has blaster to help seat the bead WHILE it’s on the machine.
Rey Rey lmaoo when u put that bitch up to 80 psi plus to seat the bead and the tire goes flying you’ll learn 😂
@@akaSouths thats for split rims they're supposed to be done in a cage or with a air cannon
nicely explained, i have five tyres to change out this evening
So the air pressure pushes the bead into he rim? No glue or other factors that hold it in place? I always thought there was more to it bc tires don't seem to failure that often....Also, I don't know why I'm here.
i'm about to start a tire business and i need all the info i can get. thank you for this video.
Thanks for not doing any cuts! Would love to change tires on my own but space and money for a machine are quite not there at the moment 😂
