    The sad truth is most shops have no idea how to properly use the machine and to rebalance the machine.

    Question: Does tire pressure affect how accurately or quickly a wheel/tire combo is balanced? What if the pressure in the tires is 5-10psi more or less than recommended - will that hinder the technician’s ability to balance them quickly?
    Should I set my car’s cold tire pressures as close as possible to recommended pressures before driving to a garage to have them balanced?

    • @HunterLearningChannel
      @HunterLearningChannel  2 года назад

      Thank you for the question, and apologies for the late reply. A tire technician should set the tire PSI to cold pressure spec before balancing, for best results. The pressure spec doesn't effect the speed of balancing on our machine. Checking your tire pressure is always a good thing, but you can also ask the shop to acknowledge that they will set the pressure during their balance procedure.

      @@HunterLearningChannel I already set vehicle-recommended pressure the morning I brought the car to be balanced.

    difference between discount tire shop vs professional I imagine. I can see this having a bigger effect on higher quality cars and trucks. I'm sure super cars and similar quality vehicles have sensors that would throw up warning codes if this kind of in depth mounting wasent done. I bet this is not a cheap machine as well. I wonder if discount tire shops can afford a machine like this or even need it ?

    • @jinxtacy
      @jinxtacy 5 лет назад +4

      Discount Tire uses these, though not exactly like this. A vibration is a vibration regardless of vehicle. The cheaper your tires the more benefit I'd imagine that you experience since they can be more inconsistent. If you have a bent wheel it's also good. There really no reason to not have your tires balanced. Just because there isn't a code doesn't meant hat it is right. Also some tires are just defective as well and balancing them you can see if they're far enough out of spec and the tire place can possibly replace them and RMA them.

    • @HunterLearningChannel
      @HunterLearningChannel  6 лет назад +4

      Take a look a the video called "Why Do My Balanced Wheels Still Shake?". You might consider finding a shop with a RoadForce balancer, it can audit the wheel and tire together, and make suggestive corrections (like rotating the tire on the wheel to a spot with less 'out-of-round' imbalance).

    I purchased a new tire balance machine and I balanced a new tire and aluminum wheel and set it in the rack and when the truck came for installation I put it back on the balance machine to show the owner it was balanced, to my surprise it was asking for 3.75 more weight for to be balanced ? is that normal ? should it not have still been balanced, thanks

      Hello, I believe you are referring to tape or clip weight locations (color dots), and then the SmartWeight limits for static & dynamic imbalance are also displayed via color indications inside the small tire pictures in the lower corners of the screen. If you have further questions about the displays & information on a blancer, please call your local Service Representative, and they can come by any explain some of the display information on the screen.

Thanks

    We are lucky enough to have the HD version of this, is a wonderful diagnostic tool, however most techs keep it in bypass mode, I call this the "half ass factor ".(theirs is usually full size)......(I know, how common of me to notice)

    Could a machine like this operate when its not on perfectly level ground? For example if it was installed in a van.

    • @HunterLearningChannel
      @HunterLearningChannel  4 года назад +1

      Yes, we have many of these machines being used in mobile applications. The key factors are the strength of the floor and calibration. Generally speaking, wooden floors are best as they are more consistent than metal floors. On metal floors the balancer feet can land between supports causing flexing of the floor and inaccurate balance results. Also, whenever setting up to balance, it is always best to calibrate the machine as the machine has been moving around and temperatures have been changing, etc..
