Mental health = psychological and emotional wellbeing.
Mental illness = when health deteriorates such that functionality is compromised.
See someone as soon as you feel your starting not to function or getting done what you usually need to. Signs: tiredness, losing focus, low energy for your previous habits, not being able to participate in your core relationships...
8 signs of bad therapist: don't remember important details, talk about themselves, downplay your issues (just, only), accessible at all times, perpetuate therapy with no end in sight, tell you what to do, you feel you are not a priority, don't give you feedback on progress.
5 good therapist signs: roots for you/chemistry, clearly communicate with the you about therapy, challenge you...make you uncomfortable, help you better express yourself and your emotions, periodically remind you of your progress.
    Family, friends, co-workers?
Tell people by keeping it short and how they can help you.

Thanks for sharing this amazing piece and I think the advice on finding a right therapist is really helpful.
My last one did not go on well, and I haven't been in any mental therapy for years. Not because I do not need any of those, just because some of my past experience with my therapist was frustrating and, at some point, made my situation even worse...
But I think it all takes efforts to find a therapist that fits you, right?

I think the entire world needs therapy; if more people sought it out, there might be fewer wars. It doesn't hurt to get it.

    • @kelleymcfadden9675
      @kelleymcfadden9675 2 года назад

Actually the entire world needs Jesus. The World Death Clock is a counter that calculates deaths per second, minute, hour, day, month and year based on records and statistics. It says that on average, over 150,000 people die every day and 56 million every year and I'm sure it is unable to keep up with all the recent war and riots happening. It is sobering to watch the numbers constantly climbing every second knowing those numbers mean the loss of lives. What if the next number was yours? Could you say that you are 100% sure that you would have a home in heaven? What are you basing that on? If you are basing it on anything other than your faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, you do not understand God's way to heaven.
The Bible says that we are all sinners. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them perfect without sin, but they chose to disobey God and became sinful in nature. This sin nature was passed down to all humanity.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Our sin separates us from God.
      Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be paid for and God's price for sin is death, but not just a physical death, but a spiritual death which means separation from God forever in hell.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
In the Old Testament when man sinned, God required the sacrifice of a perfectly spotless lamb as a substitute in the place of the sinner. The blood of that lamb was only a temporary payment for their sin and so this had to be done often. Jesus Christ, God's Son took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as that perfect, spotless Lamb and shed His blood as payment for the sins of the whole world.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Jesus loved us so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to spit on Him, mock Him and scourge Him until He was unrecognizable. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head and nailed His hands and feet to a cross. He hung in agony for hours bleeding, thirsting, struggling for every breath. He died innocently in our place so that we could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else.
There is no greater love than that!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He came back to life 3 days later just like He promised and He still lives today!
Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
      6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Jesus did all this because He wants to give you the FREE gift of eternal life in heaven with Him!
You cannot do anything to earn your own way into heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a FREE gift that God is offering to anyone who will simply receive it by faith.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
      9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must repent, change your mind and admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must simply call on Him and ask Him to save you.
Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
      13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Please don't wait. Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW wherever you are at because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth. Believe God's Word, ask Him to save you and He will!

It’s a difficult area to answer the question of what feels/makes a good therapist for us. In my experience we know when we are being heard and whether the therapist is being congruent with us and themselves. This is akin to being with a friend but redefines and goes beyond this. It may also mean us feeling we are with a trusted parent for the first time. Also somebody who has the dedication and persistence to go the ride of the necessary but often not easy journey that transference as a dynamic offers to the tools we need to make next steps.

I feel like my husbands therapist. His dad died. I said you shouldn’t make any major decisions or changes for at least a year. You won’t be yourself. A year later, his brother died. Told him the same thing. A year later, his mom was hospitalized and had both legs amputated. I said, I’m out of energy, sympathy, empathy. I’m drained. You need to see a therapist. He refused. 6 months later, he cheated. So here I am explaining to him why he’s doing what he’s doing. I couldn’t give him the emotional support anymore. I was emotionally exhausted. Which is why I suggested therapy. So he went off and found a fresh person to get attention from. He seems to have had an ah-ha moment. But we’ll see. Trying again to get him in therapy. He needs it. Bad. And I can’t do it. I’m not qualified. And my bucket is empty.

The word mental has a negative connotation. My sister had a mental illness and if I mention she was mental it made her angry and defensive.
In Australia we don't use the word Therapist. We use a psychologist so as not to confuse with the word shrink or a psychiatrist.

I work with Small Business Owners. For most of my clients, work-life balance is hard. They have fewer resources to manage essential tasks and a finite amount of daily energy to manage them. To those who can onboard staff I teach process development and effective delegation. Overall though, your business simply cannot override your self-care. When your business is your output, knowing what is worth committing your energy to is essential!

Therapy is expensive, overpriced, and overrated. It's just someone to help you figure out yourself. But if you already know yourself and have an educated mind in memory, problem solving, and the world at large, choosing a therapist for soothing is rather useless. Half the time is having to explain yourself to someone who has no clue. Therapy for most of us is just a coping distraction. I could spend my money on fine dining dinners instead of pricey therapy sessions. I could go travel and get new experiences. Which experience would soothe you better? Therapy is just comparable to a personal trainer. Someone providing extra motivation and training tips. But you can figure out how to exercise on your own.
Illness sounds like brain damage/"disorder"/biology. Health sounds like normal functioning person with temporary feelings. "Everyone can benefit from therapy"=$$$PLUG$$$ If a regular person is facing a systemically broken environment, all the therapy in the world won't help that.

People that work with people professionally that deals with mental health have to see a therapist and prove they can professionally handle their job.
Social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, counselors, whoever works with people and it may not be a good fit for someone personality wise.
It's not just college, you need to work on yourself as well. You don't want to have a client intentionally/unintentionally traumatize you.
I am working towards studying criminal psychology. One of the major reasons why I go to a therapist.

Therapists have to debrief so good therapists see another professional to make sure they remain mentally healthy for themselves and their patients.

Why would you choose to wear those pants?

What casual jeans would you recommend she wear that are being sold in the last 3 years? She's tucked basic jeans into boots. No slashes, no patterns, bright cheerful top. She could be in a magazine. Almost all google chats have the speaker in jeans. Wouldn't surprise me if they ask for speakers to casual down W denim. Why don't you just comment about what you precisely find distasteful in her legs or figure and be honest. She looks hourglass, strong and comfortable to me.

Jacqueline Therese Plunkett she has a great pair of thick legs and thighs and the jeans really stick to them and emphasis the strength and heavyness of her thighs and legs.
