When I was about 12 or 13 years old my family and I would go to Cedar Key to fish and enjoy the sea. I am now 72 and I think I will be going back. I didn't realize how much I missed this place.

#11 Shell Mound. Nice dock to watch the sunset from, amd several hiking trails, including a boardwalk.
#12 Cedar Key Scrub Reserve, a favorite place for those of us who love to hike in the Florida scrub!

I live here and absolutely love it! The best place to see the sunset is from the low-key hideaway tiki bar but other than that you've showcased it well - caught a glimpse of my favorite bar and shop Bonish Studio I&II and Valentine's dinner at the Island Hotel last night was excellent. You might have showcased it too well - sshhhh.

My profile picture was taken right outside of my front door at the Faraway Inn no filters. Just breathtaking colors. I always rent a golf cart and always have to go over to the airport. There is always a gorgeous sunset at the end of the runway. So i would say 2 of my top 10 things that you didn't mention would be Steamers restaurant and the airport. I love the quietness and hope to retire there.

You have to stop on the way into town and get some fresh off the smoker smoked Mullet and Mullet dip. You have never had anything like it and sooooo good.

When you go on the sand spreat, carry a small shovel, look along the edge in the water for a small tube about 1 to 2 inches wide and about the same tall, if you are quiet and quick you can dig up an angel wing.

Ah, Cedar Key. The best small town on the Gulf Coast. Not overtaken with condos and urban development, and surrounded by miles of green swamps. Now, that’s how the Good Lord intended the Florida coast…

Thanks for the info and the video. You have given me things to do there. I am planning a trip there soon. Because I have made plans to move from Arkansas to somewhere in Florida. I saw a video about a month ago about Cedar Key and fell TOTALLY in love with this beautiful little town. I grew up in a town/community like Cedar Key where everyone knew everyone, neighbor helped neighbor in times of need. I want to get back to that. I can not wait to visit this town and hopefully get to know, and make some friends out of some of the locals.

Great video, I learned new spots to visit. Two of my additional favorites are the new UF/IFAS Nature Coast Biological Station (can't miss it since it's literally at the end of the road on your way into town) and learning more about the local clam aquaculture industry, you can stop at any one of the processors and get a tour (for free) on how they raise the clams that you can eat in town. Very cool.

ChadGallivanter I’m suprised you didn’t mention seeing the night sky while in cedar key. Just a few miles away from the main town the sky is pitch black and full of stars on any clear moonless night. You can even see the Milky Way with just your eyes. Nothing better than watching the stars and shooting stars while near cedar key!

you missed the sand spreat, not sure I spelled that right, west Side of Cedar Key. Around July, Aug, Sept when the tide goes out you can almost walk to Seahorse finding shells along the way. Did you go to seahorse and see the rattlesnakes?
