I have a setup for every wave until the last boss and then I switch to the boss setup. Pretty much weapon attack, shockwave, taunt up chip, overclock, offensive heal, and 2 hp chips for bigger health pool that gets me 15k health. Im using Bersker with A2 btw, you shouldnt go out out berserk with that much health. Always remember to DODGE LIKE CRAZY, and it should be easy the 3 main things to watch for is the dash uppercut the glowing beams under the ground and the big fireballs they launch.
Very Hard makes it so that each enemy attack does your maximum HP worth of damage exactly. You can confirm this in debug mode against any enemy of any level (lvl 1 stubby works) but you'll need a proc off one of the auto resurrect chips like reset or damage absorb to get around the GAMEOVER screen. HP Up chips serve no purpose in a Very Hard playthrough unless used in conjunction with a high level counter chip. A2 has a much easier time with the arenas thanks to Berserk mode. Berserk mode gives her an extra 100% damage multiplier while active. Additionally, A2 cannot be killed while berserked. Attacks against a berserked A2 won't reduce her HPs below 1; at 1HP berserk mode will end leaving A2 somewhat vulnerable but that can be mitigated by slowing time with repeated pod charging. Counter (with an equipped counter chip) is also another option to protect an otherwise incapacitated A2 (pods and the parry counter are the only actions available to A2 while recovering from berserk far as I know). You're absolutely right to recommend A2 to folk looking to clear the Special Rank Arena that first time on any difficulty. A2 is much stronger than 2B and much more forgiving. Overclock is also highly recommended for shredding gestalt Adam+Eve. A2 can pretty much delete one or the other after a single evade with max effect Overclock. Doing this challenge as 2B and without access to some of the most powerful chips in the game was meant to serve as a capstone achievement for myself.
