Always loved this song. What a great job Lisa does on this without instrumental accompaniment, and she stays right on pitch. Not everybody can do that without a musical instrument to anchor them to the notes, even some professionals -no names mentioned.

This is really good. I don't know why a lot more of the younger musicians don't sing Joni. Especially as they tend to quote her as an influence. It would be really good to hear a younger take on her songs.
I sing a'capella as a rule, because I don't know keyboards or guitar good enough to accompany myself. It does make people pay close attention to the song.

The reason emo is mocked is because it's often a phase that exaggerates the woes of life in The suburbs for typically middle class kids who have an life more amazing than most even on their worst day. They typically enjoy the experience of depression as weird as it sounds. It makes them feel It also often inspires creativity and an avenue in which they can connect with similarly depressing environments like emo music that they can relate their emotions to. Also there is that stage where you're a teen trying to figure out who you are and where you fit and sometimes you find yourself in eating disorders or other truly disordered thoughts. High school and community College seem like such big parts of a teens life until we grow up and realize it's like seriously nothing in high school matters and all the kids who were cool end up pregnant, fat, broke, in jail, on drugs, and the girls who dissed nice guys for being too nice end up being the bottom pick of women when they wake up that bad boys aren't for the win. Poor credit score No healthcare Bad job with no education Can't even join the army because he can't pass the ASVAB. Ends up living In her moms house with her while "looking for a job."

No auto tune No backing just a story in a song.Not too many singers would do this.My experience of live concerts proved that to me.
