Not for me. The original, despite having an upbeat strum to it, seems so much more authentic in it's sadness than this melodramatic, unstructured whine. It's a subtle little heart-break drinking song, not an opera.

I think that kind of represents how the person feels with losing this person they are singing about. The mess of a love life they had made is translated into the song along with the significant pain and realization.
There is something in this song that makes me listen to it million times, again and again.
You don't just listen to this like he doesn't just play this, it is a song to be felt.
