That is a really great starter car for Nick. Dirt, dirt simple. Uncomplicated. Include him in all of the diagnostics and repairs and upgrades. Get his input on the new paint color and pattern. I'm seeing black with a silver stripe down the side from taillight to headlight and body line to body line. Fix up all those plastic components and shifter boot. Fix the hood latch, that's No. 1. Get a fuse box cover before you power wash the engine bay. Power wash the edges of the door and the door jam, the underside of the trunk lid and that grody trunk gutter. Weld up that hole in the trunk floor. Redo the tint. That might find that the window seals on the passenger's door have permanently etched the exterior of that glass and it should be replaced.
Yeah. You got a great little runabout and when he turns 16, Nick's got a cool car to step into immediately, and one he's been intimately involved in every step of the rehab of.

love this. not my fav body style but its still a great find. looking forward to seeing it come back to life. Suggestion for you. seems Nick has taken a liking to this car. would be a good surprise to gift it to him after you restore it. would be a great first car for him. paint it metallic deep blue or let Nick pick the color.

I’m wondering if this was an impound car that was sold for scrap when the owner never came back for it. But definitely a score 👍. And speaking as a father if it gets the kid away from video games it might be worth keeping this one around.👍👍👍

After serving in the Navy I bought a white '97' mustang with cash and used it through college. This brings back so many memories. Mine was an automatic V6 and the interior was the brown on black but close enough.

I owned one like this for 4 years and it was my best car! Track days, time attack handled with no problem! So regret that I sold it and both BMW. GT manual now shoots in value here in Canada.

The mustang would be a great project for both Nick and yourself, let him help you pick the colour, after being made safe and roadworthy, it would be a great first car for your son.

Install a winch on the garage by the wall wen you open the door so you can pull the cars

My first brand new Stang was a ‘94 with that body design, couldn’t afford the v8. Have a ‘14 GT vert in SGM today with Eibach 2” sport lowering springs, rough ride FYI. I think your son needs to pick the color but that’s just me:). Got my 19 yr old daughter an ‘07 v6 premium vert in black with red leather interior. She is now a Mustang lover for life as is your son seeing his reaction. Can’t wait to see the next vid on this one!

Chrisfix called, he wants that cheap Mustang! 😂 It's nice to see your son starting to grow interest in fixing cars, I originally played games until my dad came home with a project truck. Man, working on that truck was fun than playing video games!

And since it's the 4.6, with some p71 interceptor modifications, you can make it a lot more powerful than a stock 5.0. I think after your done, you should take it to Weird Beard's, and just park it there and surprise your son with the car on Christmas day 😄 He absolutely adores that car!

I agree. I was lucky enough to get 2 classic Mustangs as a kid, my parents were divorced, lol!!! One, the 68 289 coupe was from up north and had severely rusted unibody but the 65 289 coupe would go on to be my first car that I actually drove. It barely ran when my mom and step-dad bought it for me. I think I was 13 or 14 at the time. I learned about cars on it, did my first oil change, car stereo install, replaced things like valve covers, the alternator, starter solenoid, carburetor, and really got an appreciation for turning my own wrenches and learned a lot about cars in the process.
Ironically, this car now is not a whole lot younger than my 1965 Mustang was when my mom and step-dad bought it for me in 1991 or 92. That is pretty hard to believe for me because I drove my 65 Mustang to the unveiling of the SN95 Mustangs in Clearwater, FL in late 1993. I can remember when they were first released which I guess is a sign that you're getting old. LOL!!!

I agree with others commenting , Nick has shown his first spark of interest,
it would kill him to not fix that car up for him as a first car for him to learn in and inspire his love for mechanics
, I struggle with the kids and there iPads pods whatever there into ,
don’t tell him though keep it a secret and then surprise him when you go to sell it tell him you already found an owner 😂 , love your work Randy 🙏
