Just bought the AD27e. As is often the case with mahogany top guitars, monel strings work great. It's not about volume. It's about a clear, sweet tone.
These inexpensive Taylors really are fantastic guitars. Well built, great sounding and playability. Although Taylor has had to temporarily suspend tours of their El Cajon shop, we saw a vid on these guitars' manufacturing. Looked like a small custom shop, with fewer employees. For those who may feel these Taylors are just a shade too pricey, think of this as a guitar you can grow into...until your next move up in guitars. Conversely, you may never feel the need to move into a higher priced guitar.
Nice guitars. These will appeal to those who like playability with neat looking, no frills cosmetics in slope shoulder-type shape. And there are many who simply don't like bling. The mahogany contrasted significantly over the spruce with it full warm tone. Having both would be good start point for a player/collector aspiring to intermediate level and beyond in different playing genres.
Larrivee have been building incredibly affordable, all solid wood guitars for years. Nothing against Taylor but I do hate how their marketing department makes it seem as though they have done everyone a favour and released something groundbreaking.
I would say your right! In general I am not a Taylor fan but how the Grand Pacific was marketed and advertised really peaked my interest. Nope, not something I would buy over other brands.
This sounds like a $200 Yamaha. I'm not entirely sure if I like Taylor's recent guitars... Can you guys please review some Larrivee? If my ears are not deceiving, it is the best acoustic brand right now.
Lorne Pay totally agree that’s what i’ve been saying,i love taylor but it’s bull 💩that they keep saying these are affordable guitars 🎸 if they were like $999 then i would call them affordable
Michael Vaughn for real dude. I like Taylor’s but they’re kinda stretching it with this one. i got my Martin GPCRSG for 999 all solid with electronics but they’re fishman. With a hard shell case 🥱 yeah the road series is Mexican made but if you shop around you can find some made in the USA like mine. I have another friend who has a Martin DRSG made in the us for about the same price
Joe P thanks i appreciate it that’s all i’m saying taylor is patting themselves on the back and saying they are helping us during this pandemic it’s totally bull 💩$1699 is not affordable for the average person considering musicians can’t even go out and play anywhere!
$1,399 without electronics; $1,599 with & and extra $100 with the black top. All with an Aero case. For an american made all wood, V Braced, full size, high quality guitar. seems reasonable to me.
Yes when we are talking about price you also need to compare itto the average salary of a population which is way under 1800 euro this guitar costs more than how much the average individual makes in most countries so by definition its an expensive product 1000 would have been a less debatable matter
@@nakana_212 I suppose that's true. I've always wanted a 300 series, which is about $1700-$2000, so when they opened talking about affordability I assumed it would come in considerably lower than that.
RobsalotMTG I played one and they are an entirely different animal. Especially considering the v class bracing. Both excellent guitars but good for different reasons.
V bracing is awful. I have a Taylor Academy with very basic X bracing that sounds better than these guitars. I wish they'd still make solid body Taylors with the old X bracing...then I might actually buy one. I was hoping these might rival some of the slope shoulder offerings from Gibson...but they're not even close! Glad you still sell Gibson
i’m sick and tired of all this fucking bull 💩 that these are affordable guitars 🎸 come on give me a break $1699 is not affordable!!!! if they were like $999 then it could be considered affordable, sick of taylor saying their helping out during this pandemic 🙄 don’t get me wrong i love taylor but this is upsetting
Thanks, Paul and Quinton, for continuing to add so much to all of us in the guitar community through all the sharing, chatting, and demonstrating...!
I’m a lefty and our local music store had an AD17 in stock. I am now determined to buy one. It sounded great!

I usually don’t prefer the mahogany over the spruce. This is the exception to the rule.
I have to agree as well... it sounds stellar
Just ordered mine!
Vs grande Pacifica ?

Whats the guitar hanging on the wall on the left
Cheers for keepin it real, bandana dude.
Quentin has quite a look on his face as Paul tries to explain how "ovangkol is basically rosewood"
the spruce one has more balanced tone
1960 👏🏻 Hummingbird 👏🏻
They look like a Gibson J 45 but sound different and unique

Let’s see
superior gig bag ✔️
American made and all solid woods ✔️
Superior neck joint✔️
Brand recognition and resale value ✔️
Affordable is a very loose term. Like a budget guitar for 1699.00 list. I hope it's worth it
People "request more talking" on your videos? ... You must be kidding.
...don't make me choose *..* they're all sweeet'''
Nice guitars and I guess affordable for some folks
Grand Pacific sales must be lower than expected.
I would say your right! In general I am not a Taylor fan but how the Grand Pacific was marketed and advertised really peaked my interest. Nope, not something I would buy over other brands.
If it had a gloss top I'd be down. I just don't like satin tops.

Mahogany top.
The mahogany actually sounds louder to my ear - wasn’t expecting that
I noticed that too Scott in the few other Youbube demos I have watched. it was a surprise to me as well.
Somehow I just feel like $2,000 just isn't that affordable 🤷
Lorne Pay totally agree that’s what i’ve been saying,i love taylor but it’s bull 💩that they keep saying these are affordable guitars 🎸 if they were like $999 then i would call them affordable

Black
You fools are completely out of touch with reality if you think $1600 should be referenced to the current covid situation as "affordable"
Wait until you look at the prices of pre war Martin guitars 😂

"Glue sniffer" lol
What ? Who knows?
Like Mahogany, give Guild a look. The American stuff is fantastic! Taylor, overpriced, no thanks
Gibson G-45 is a much more affordable US made guitar.
And the Gibson at least has some low-end.
$1600 is not "affordable"
I think that’s one of the lowest prices for an all solid wood, American made guitar I’ve ever seen 🧐
@@nakana_212 I suppose that's true. I've always wanted a 300 series, which is about $1700-$2000, so when they opened talking about affordability I assumed it would come in considerably lower than that.
Lmao found the broke boi. Go buy a Yamaha.
Gibson G-45 makes this look less appealing
RobsalotMTG I played one and they are an entirely different animal. Especially considering the v class bracing. Both excellent guitars but good for different reasons.
Kinda soulless sounding with very little bass to my ear...just one man's opinion of course.
I wouldn’t call that affordable
Sapele back and sides? Too expensive. You’re better off buying a Taylor mini.

plug one in
You guys talk more than girls....How about you not talk and at all and just play. Let us figure it out!

These guys are shady salesmen and can’t play for crap. Dude knows like 3 chords.
