Just purchased the AD17e for an early Christmas present to my talented wife, she absolutely loves it and it sounds amazing!
I love what Taylor is doing with the AD guitars and the GT. Guitars that are meant to be played and not just pretty to look at. Also, you two do a great job with the reviews. I usually never watch a review all the way through but you guys keep my attention. Thanks for all you do.

I started to play again after a 55 year absence. My old Epiphone Calabro had issues so I purchased an AD27e. I am extremely pleased with the purchase and feel it makes me a better player with every daily practice session. The AD series is a decent guitar for a decent price. Try one at your local music shop if you are looking for a solid playable guitar.

Taylor’s are the nicest playing acoustics I’ve encountered. My heart is with Martin, but my ear and hands say Taylor.

I have a Taylor Academy 12e - and i love it, i think however i might have to get the black top AD17, it looks so great!
Loved the intro piece, it reminded me of the soundtrack to 'Nebraska' by Mark Orton

Thanks fellas. I've got an AD17e Blacktop coming next week and I'll be touring Europe with it all thru June. I'll also be looking for a Ukrainian refugee who's a guitarist that lost everything back home and has not instrument ony longer - and I'll give the guitar to them in Prague about June 26. Taylor says eucalyptus is "smoked" giving it a darker appearance , I think

I had wish for this just like one of all the mini Taylors models but I thought I will not have any Taylors even the builders Pacifica…
Was he saying that he COULD or COULDN’T hear the pick sound? The sentence before he said he preferred the classic Taylor sound and it was better for finger picking.
The eucalyuptus us actually fumed in Italy with ammonia, which turns it dark. It's an old process. But the goal was indeed conservation.

I think some commentators need to watch the American Dream video Taylor put out. There are reasons for the things you're complaining about.

I would agree these are uniquely good imo compared to traditional sounding taylors. Little more dark and earthy. Dare I say martin-esque?

Taylor would be better off making banjos, their guitars are not great.
Taylors still sound soulless and sterile to me but I will have to say their attempts to emulate the Larrivee 03 series is duly noted. I have always appreciated Larrivee's full, balanced and organic tone while keeping with old world craftsmanship and construction. Larrivees are a world apart... jmo.

Yes, I agree. I put a picture of the Taylor next to a picture of the Larrivee L body and the shape is VERY similar to it. Bob Taylor has to know this is close to the Larrivee L body as him and Jean Larrivee are both good friends and I understand have learned from each other over the years; though the L body was around before Taylor Guitars even originated. I too love that Larrivee tone!
I only passed on this because of the eucalyptus used in place of ebony. Even the academy series has an ebony bridge, fretboard board and headstock veneer. Huge loss by Taylor imo. It’s not like they don’t own 90% of the ebony in the world
You comment this on every video. Taylor has already addressed this. Bob Taylor is a conservationist and doesn't want to further stress the ebony supply, and wanted to create a new market for a domestically sourced wood.

@@WorldsOkayistGuitarPlayer haha I've seen you say it on multiple videos as I've watched onRUclips tonight. And it's Bob's company, so I care what he says to be sure. Taylor has always used non-traditional woods. Other companies are using Richlite, which is a manmade material used in countertops, and lots of other alternate woods to avoid rosewood. Taylor is big on sourcing wood ethically and I wouldn't at all be surprised to see them convert Tecate-made guitars to eucalyptus to help take some strain off ebony. They like to highlight things by putting them on high end guitars first to de-stygmatize them, like using striped ebony which other companies wouldn't have thought of using 10 years ago.
If you passed on this over that youre dumb and ignorant. Bet if Taylor said it was ebony you'd never tell the difference.

Considering American Dream/Taylor guitars were originally a high end boutique build I’m not quite sure why taylor decided to make a cheap factory made guitar and call it the american dream. Kinda lame in my opinion.
Pretty sure it's something to do with empathising with the times?? Just a name though, the sound is what we're here for
Scratches etc adds tone....
