  • I've been working way too much recently, so I decided to take control and do a single-day adventure. 280 miles driving to Snowdonia in North Wales, followed by a quick run up Snowdon, and another 280 miles in the car back to London.
It was an absolutely beautiful blue sky day on Snowdon and I'm so glad I went up. The wind was a bit savage at times but more the reason to be doing this route, whilst training for my ultra marathon in June.
I ran up the Pyg track and reached the summit in 1hour 27 minutes, before going down the Llanberis track in just over 1.5 hours. Can't wait to go back and try improve on that in a few months!

Great footage and lovely to see what I conquered last year during the heatwave!

@@santskatefly A absolute beast... the restaurant was still closed and virtually no water at any of the water stops post pen-y-pass and only one bottle at the top.... so dehydrated but the views where at the best in years!

Oh I hate that when you don't have enough water. I once got stuck on some dirty gulleys in Tryfan North Ridge when I took a route too far to the right, ran out of water before I even topped out and spent over an hour trying to inch up this increasingly dangerous gulley. When I eventually got out I had to ask someone if they had any spare, so embarassing!!

Nice one Santi. I've wanted to do this in one day for a long time, it's the drive that puts me off!

DO IT! Set off early with plenty of coffee and a good playlist. It's all part of the adventure.

It was indeed, and the wind made it just that little bit special/wild.

All that wind and your hair is alright 🤣 I'd be looking like I just woke up with no help for it. Beautiful spot my dude. I love self trips like this for myself and let's just say we don't quite have that in Indiana. But I make do! Good for ya and awesome seeing you kill it like that! Cheers!

Haha, I did have a fair amount of gel on it!! What's the closest mountains to you? Probably West Virginia? This was a 5 hour drive for me, not exactly on my door step!

Nice one, it's certainly not easy, I'm a local fell runners and used to run up Snowdon once a week and have done the fell race several times, with mountain's just running up them regularly makes it an awful lot easier, I've not ran so much the last year though so I'm planning on entering this years Snowdon race to give me a goal. Have you read the book 'Feet in the Clouds'? It's about a guy living in London training to be a fell runner, it's a great read.

Yes, and when you get to a certain level of fitness there is a sense of freedom with being able to move around the mountain so quickly. I had it a few years ago when I went from being the slowest in our group of scramblers to the quickest, and that thanks to regular training and running. Good luck with getting back into it! I've just found that book on Audible so I'm going to download it now, thanks so much for the recommendation!

I walked up llamberis and ran down and now my goal is to run up!! I’ve got to ask - what trails do you suggest? did u do any training for this? Are you a runner? I want to run snowdon but I’m an awful runner - I walked up llamberis and ran down and now my goal is to run up! What trails do you suggests?

Sorry for the massive delay, I missed this comment! I am an on-and-off runner, I usually get into it a bit then get busy or distracted and loose it all and have to start again from scratch. I did some short runs 5-10km around the Ashdown Forest, but few and far in between and really not enough to train for this. I did the Pyg track which was a bit intense for running in places for someone who is unfit like me, hence why you see in the video I did not run all of it. The Llanberis track would be much more manageable, with a more even ascent profile. I think the best thing to do is just head out for some runs and then one day just go for it. You might not run all of it, and have to walk a lot instead of running, but give it a go and see how you get on. You can always go back and try it again later on and run the whole thing, that's what I plan on doing.
