The Trio, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton. Emmy Lou Harris singing “High Sierra “ is so mesmerizing together.
Linda on the cusp of superstardom… This was less than a year before Heart Like a Wheel’s release
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
For a deep cut gem....and Linda has many of them....try The Moon is a Harsh Mistress from her 1982 Get Closer album. Amazing version!
I was thinking the same thing. Couldn’t decide between suggesting that one or ‘I knew you when’
She has done practically every genre, always nails it beautifully. She has done Folk, Country, Country Rock, Rock, New-wave, R & B, Standards, Operetta, Spanish and Mariachi. She didn't do Disco or Punk (that's OK with Me). The most versatile singer ever, IMO.
She said she sang what she had heard at home up to 10 yrs old. She had a theory - that I'm probably not saying accurately - that if you hadn't heard it by 10 yrs old, you hadn't absorbed it; it wasn't really a part of you. But we can be so very grateful that her family did listen to such a wide variety of music.
Try Down So Low live version--I think her 1976 Germany concert. She just sings her heart out
Saw her in concert at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in 1978 when I was 18. She was spectacular ❤
I love ADIOS, Linda is a national treasure. If He's Ever Near and Lose Again are great vocals by Linda.
Lose Again is beautiful. I also love her songs written by Jimmy Web, I Keep it Hid, and Shattered.
Imagine having shows like 'In Concert' & 'Midnight Special' on every week!
To answer your question of whether there’s anything she hasn’t explored - no, not much lol. You might be surprised to hear Linda’s even done an album of new wave/punk music (her 1980 album ‘Mad Love’). She’s also done old 30s/40s standards, songs for movie soundtracks, light opera, mariachi/latin, pop, rock, country, folk….
"I Never Will Marry" live duet with Johnny Cash
Linda Ronstadt “How Do I Make You”
Her beautiful song “Ooh Baby Baby” shows off her soprano voice. Also “Try Me Again”, one of the few songs she wrote herself.
He did ooh baby baby already, but try me again is a good one
Try me again kills me every time 😢
Nice reactions to a medley by the lovely + uber talented Linda Ronstadt. You're correct w needing to listen to the album versions, particulartly "Love Has No Pride".
It could leave you speechless (LOL).
The whole Side One of 'Don't Cry Now" w "Silver Threads and Golden Needles"
and a cover of Neil Young:s "Love is a Rose".
"Down So Low" live from Germany 1976. I Can't Help it if I"m Still in Love with You live from the Dolly Parton Show mid 70s. It's an old Hank Williams Sr song
100% yes
Try When Will I Feel Love, Hurt So Bad and Tumbling Dice are 3 really good ones!! Thanks for reacting to Linda, she us phenomenal!!
Has anyone mentioned Trio and Trio II? There are two albums that Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda put out together. Very good stuff.
The Trio. Linda, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris perform as a group.
It's so sad Linda's health condition has only worsened and can no longer sing due to a neurological disorder. Yes, your Patreon members do love Linda. She is so versatile. Linda Ronstadt recorded three albums with the great Nelson Riddle that need to be in your radar. I'll start you off with Linda Ronstadt's "What's New", the album and the song.
Yep, I subscribed to your new channel.
Everyone loves Linda. You need to turn your younger listeners on to her.
I don’t she think she ever recorded those on a studio album. They were just off the cuff live because she’s so amazing.
Have you done any of her rock stuff yet? Her cover of the Stones "Tumbling Dice" is insane, and "How Do I make you" was a great power pop/new wave jam. Two faves.
Check out Linda with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra doing standards...."What's New" is amazing ❤❤❤
You should hear her sing with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris (The Trio) - the specific song High Sierra! You'll love it!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but she never did studio recordings for "Fill My Eyes" (a Cat Stevens song) or "The First Cut Is the Deepest" (a Rod Stewart song). These were saved for concerts only.
Please react to Lose Again, it really shows Linda’s powerful vocals and range; Linda is the best female singer of this generation, I’m also a huge Cat Stevens fan but she definitely does an excellent version of this First Cut is the Deepest
Rod Stewart had a big hit with The First Cut Is the Deepest, and it's a great version.
Nice! Check out "I Knew You When," "Easy For You To Say," "Look Out FOr My Love," and/or live version of "Party Girl" for great early 80s Linda.
Almost every female in the 70s covered this song. Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Nelson, Emmy lou.
I remember the hair on the back of my neck standing up when she does that cry at the end of Love has No Pride. She was better live than on record.
I was in high school when I saw first cut is the deepest. She gave a big smile at the end. Next day my friend shouted from a half a block away "Did you see the girl with the smile????". That has been Linda to me ever since
Haha patreon definitely loves Linda!
Oh Linda!
Probably not thinking of something, but as far as I know Linda has performed in all musical genres that were in existence up through the 1970s. She never did grunge, for example, but that genre didn't arise until the mid/late 1980s.
Maybe not grunge, but in a similar vein, she did experiment with punk and new wave on her 1980 album Mad Love.
Linda is always great live, way better than most singers
"Moonlight in Vermont" duet with Frank Sinatra
The thing missing most from this version of "Love has No Pride" was the female backup vocals. They really make it on the studio version.
"Fill My Eyes" I had no idea she ever covered this Cat Stevens song. It sure is different.
"First Cut is the Deepest" I have always liked her version best of this song.
Song, Down so Low, live version.
This is early Linda who was given 6 minutes to perform in this concert. The audience reaction is very telling.
Written by Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam), Furst Cut has been covered by quite a few artists. Rod Stewart’s version is very good. Also done by Sheryl Crow.
Should check out her duet with Aaron Neville, "Don't Know Much". Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
I prefer their duet called “all my life” Better sounding song
What? No "Don't Know Much" with Aaron Neville and Ms Linda! You don't know what you are missing! 🤠
Did you listen to the intro? This was specifically requested by a member, so it wasn't his choice what to play.
@@MoMoMyPup10 I did hear the intro! Yes, I realize it was a member request. I wasn't being critical, just suggesting another song by Linda! I love Salvo's channel! Sorry if you got offended.
I prefer her other duet with Aaron called “All My Life”.
@@evanhughes1510 Thanks! I will check that one out!
@@TexasDonna-xu6fqit’s on the album cry like a rainstorm, howl like the wind
Try Linda's duet album with Ann Savoy called Adieu False Heart. Their cover of the Left Banke's hit "Walk Away Renee" is exqusite.
This is from a concert show similar to The Midnight Special
Sal, no it’s not the same concert as the Heatwave video you saw. This concert is 1973, the Heatwave one was ‘76.
"High Sierra" by Trio. Her, Dolly Parton, and Emmy Lou Harris
Linda's versatility is legendary, she's done everything but opera.
She did light opera on pirates of penance
Kinda...I think it was more Broadway. When I think opera, I think of Aretha Franklin filling in for Pavoratti and singing his song in his key at the Grammys. Who knew she knew Italian.@@evanhughes1510
"I'm just a coaster but my wheels won't go" were the only words I remembered and that was in my head for weeks
Goodbye My Friend - Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt
This, btw, is not the 'behind prison walls' concert. That one is much better video (not sure about audio), and all of the inmates are sitting around watching her sing with a little short skirt (yeah).
Every song off her album Prisoner in Disguise (her best album, imo) is amazing, especially the title track and her harmonies with J.D. Souther
Er Salvo???? You tube Channel as WELL as Patreon domination? Starting to do my head in lol
The thing is, you want to hear the studio versions but really, she is so spot on with her voice, the live versions are equally good
Man, when I was listening to Fill My Eyes, with that banjo, I thought I was listening to Alison Krauss with Union Station. 😁. So Country/bluegrass feel.
"Love Has No Pride" was written by Eric Kaz and Libby Titus and first recorded by Bonnie Raitt, although Linda's version is most familiar to listeners. Libby is married to Donald Fagen (Steely Dan). She had a daughter with Levon Helm (The Band) before she hooked up with Fagen.
Has there been anything she hasn't done? No. LOL.
Fill My Eyes and First Cut are Cat Stevens songs. That said, Linda did Country, Pop, Rock, Opera (Pirates of Penzance which is amazing), The Classics w/ Nelson Riddle Orchestra and the Mariachi. She was warned against the Mariachi album by her label saying it'd ruin her career but instead went on to the the best selling International Female Vocalist of all time album in the day, might still be. There really ARE or shall I saw WERE no comparators to Linda Ronstadt and I always thought her the most versatile female vocalist ever. However there is one now. Yep.
Name is Megan Ruby Walsh she's been singing since she was a child. Some years back I and several others recommended her to Celtic Women not that I know if that had impact. But she auditioned and was picked up by Celtic Women where she toured with them for some time before working to pursue her solo career. This women is UNBELEIVABLE and like Linda can do it all and seemingly effortlessly with incredible vocal control. She's magnificent.

What? No "La Charreada" by Ms Linda!!!! You don't know what you're missing! 🤠
He’s done that one
@@Joel-um8qx Thanks! I will have to look up that reaction!
Sal was blown away with Linda's latin songs. He has reacted to 2 from Carciones de mi Padres.
Daryl Braithwaite 🇦🇺 singer covered this in 1977 & it was in the Top 100 for 4 months - it got to #5. Worth having a listen to, I think you’d enjoy his voice
Lo Siento Mi Vida…my favorite (ok I lied, I have no favorite because they are all excellent ❤)
Linda is great and it was odd that she recorded this a year after Bonnie Raitt did - they shared many fans, myself included. I lean toward the Raitt version but both were worthy.
Sorry, but there is no studio version of “Fill my eyes” and “ The first cut is the deepest”. She only sang them live. There are quite a few songs she would sing live but never got around to recording. Fortunately, there does exist video/audio
of these live performances…
The studio version is by Cat Stevens
I would like for you to find the song Sorrow lives Here. I don't remember the album. I think she is the only person who could sing this song. See if you agree
It’s from the album Simple Dreams
SALVO, YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM LINDA. SHE DID THREE ALBUMS WITH NELSON RIDDLE OF AMERICAN STANDARDS WHICH WERE MOSTLY SONGS FROM THE 30'S AND 40'S. WORTH A LISTEN, HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED.
Skylark is a good song from that set of albums
We need some of Linda's 1940's style music with the Nelson Riddle Band. My two favorites are "I've got a crush on You" and "What's New?" Both of them have videos where she's in period costume like in a movie. I recommend these over the ones where she's just on stage with the orchestra.
Skylark is a great track from the Nelson riddle album as well
My fave version of The First Cut Is the Deepest
is by Rod Stewart. It was a double A-side single with "I Don't Want to Talk About It" in 1976
Have you listened to Lose Again? Amazing
If you don't do Tumbling Dice you are missing out.
Heatwave was still the encore in 1977 shows (at least the one I saw)
This was a tribute to Cat Stevens show on TV
This song has always killed me.
Good reaction. Love this song. I want to react to: "Endless Dream," by Yes.
Genre-fluid. I love it!!! I think the usual term is cross-over artist. But then, she “crossed-over” so many genres.
She didnt do hard rock, metal, punk or rap/hip-hop to my knowledge 😏😉😁
Yes, she did punk/new wave in the really early 80s
@@evanhughes1510 wow….really? Can you suggest a song or two? New Wave or Alternative I can almost see….but punk???
@@helenespaulding7562 look up her 1980 album Mad Love. 3 good songs from it are Hurt so Bad, How Do I Make You, and I can’t Let Go.
@@helenespaulding7562it’s all on her 1980 album Mad Love. The 3 big songs from that album are Hurt So Bad, How Do I Make You, and I Can’t Let Go.
@@evanhughes1510 thanks, Evan….
I don't think she's ever done Lithuanian folk music. Lol
There no type of music she can't sing. Try from Opera to Spanish, pop, folk, soul, she is good at it all.
she had not tried Rap music...lol
Thank goodness 😏
@@randyventresca4152 should have done it just to get street cred lol
She never really did any R&B
She did Motown stuff thiugh
I like this but Bonnie Raitt's version is so much better ..
Check out her version of Love Has No Pride
That is funny. Bonnie Raitt is good but Linda is a superior singer and puts way more emotion in her version.
