Context: In México there is a reseller/scalper problem in Costco right now People buying HUGE amounts of cake and now rosca in order to sell them for TRIPLE the price. On Facebook... (Some states in the south of México even going as far as just allowing a customer to buy 2 cakes max since people legit bought like 20 at once leaving regular customers with no cakes) And... since we are 3rd world. People think Costco is like an elite store and gives "status" like Starbucks or Apple products. So they buy them from scalpers because they wanna brag they bought it from Costco (this brag culture becoming almost a norm thanks to the corridos.) But like the México Costco membership is hella cheap Costing only $500 pesos or Close to $25 dollars more/LESS
third world does not mean underdeveloped, it's a cold war term that means neither Pro-US or Pro-USSR, third world nations may be underdeveloped but that is not their distinguishing characteristic.
@@MrDonJuanquis My Mexican dad always make sure to tell us when we’re in Mexico that it’s the 3rd world lol. As an American myself it’s definitely different but not any less safe or worse than the us.
Im from México, they buy so many because they are resellers, the rosca is decent but definately there are some extremely delicious ones, the ones from costco are cheap but the flavour is mid
"The Rosca" from Costco is actually pretty decent but they are expensive, and if you buy in bulk in Costco it's cheaper. So people actually go and buy to re sell, and the prices go up ridiculous up to 100 dl equivalent.
Mexican here! They’re ok from Costco. You could find something similar at a Mexican grocery store, get some Duvalin while you’re there, or get lucky and find one at a Mexican bakery, or pass and get a bunch of pan dulce instead jeje. That New Orleans rosca tho, hola beibi jesus 👀 🔥
I've been to the Costco in GDL several years ago. Are the prices better at a local store or is it the different items that makes it worthwhile to buy from Costco. I think one of the strengths of Costco here in the US is that the Costco does a decent job of finding good quality items for the members.
The way how people are taking over all the stock to resell it 5 times it's price is really awful. And the issue is that: the more they produce, the worse its Quality became.
As a Mexican myself, I can confirm that you do only need one of these breads. In Mexico, they are called “Rosca” however though in my opinion, I preferably do not like the Rosca bread as much. For a rating, I’d have to give it a 4.6/10
I’ve tried is not that better than regular bakery shop kings cake. A lot of people have started reseller businesses during the last year, and a lot of them ended up with a lot of unselled cakes this year. The funny thing is that nobody will buy those cakes after Jan 6. So a lot of resellers lost money on that
Maybe because they go from Mexico to San Diego CA. The Mexicans get usa dollars which I think is worth more than pesos. The people in CA get a Mexican Costco item they perceive as better.
This is also a tradition in Spanish, but in spain the Roscon de Reyes is sliced in have with whipped cream in the middle, much better than here if you ask me. And in some stores the hide money inside the cake, here if u get a figurine u have to make tamales, which i find it weird hahah
Funny, I’ve never eaten Roscons with whip cream, but sounds so good. My family usually makes a drink like Chocolate milk or Aroze con leche. I still don’t get why make tamales when we get the baby/figurine.
They're called Rosca and probably meh, my local Mexican bakery in San Bernardino California makes them better and fresh and more available. Even though the purpose of these is the baby Jesus toys inside, whoever gets one of the four has to pitch in or make the tamales for el día de la calendaria on February 2nd.
Its not about the taste altough obviously you want it to be good, it’s like a holiday where you get together and you guys share the bread and it has 3 little plastic babies in it whoever gets the 3 baby have to cook food for everyone else on a decided date at least that’s from where im from
We have bought them at Sanborns, H-E-B, Bimbo brand, Northgate and even local bakeries in TJ and Matamoros and they all taste the same to me. Don’t know what the hype is about
The Spanish one is much better. That said, no family needs more than one or you will never be able to finish this dry cake. It’s obvious they are resellers.
Why are people buying so many?? You only need 1 💀💀
resellers
Scalpers, reselling for a higher price in the parking lot.

And white people be like “🤪” when buying it for triple

In Mexico peoples are fighting over the king cake at Costco

They resell the cakes once they leave. It’s lowkey annoying because nowadays you can’t get good cakes from Costco in Tijuana 😞
You should compare the Costco version versus a Mexican bakery

I bought one for my wife and it was okay
They didn’t look like Maddie Gras king cakes at all
Costco beat down Justified!

hi i love your videos man 🤙
Thanks Gold!
Bimbo makes a delicious one. Also sold at Costco, here in the USA
Bimbo sells them everywhere. I buy it at Walmart.
NOT EL BIMBO, as a mexican i have to say el bimbo is not the one
Can find them at Walmart by the pallets now too.

Looks very similar to the ones in Spain 😊
It’s pretty good with hot chocolate but I think the once a year thing makes taste that much better

This shit ain’t nothing special, if you end up not trying it your not missing out on much. 🗣💯
Not all that in my opinion there is a lot better the issue is that most of them people resell them.

Just like the stanley cups 🤣🤣
People buy a bunch and resell em for insane prices online. 🤣 same thing here most likely.

As a Hispanic that bread is tougher and dryer than KFC's biscuits
Depends on where you buy it.
You gotta find a new bakery the one we get is always super moist and soft
You just got a bad one bro 💀 Some of them can be pretty good but you have to get them from a good bakery.

Do costco’s in America have them
I haven’t seen it. Maybe the ones in Louisiana
I saw them yesterday in sams club but I’m not sure about costco, havent gone recently 😭
They are probably just buying them to resell them for double price
If they take them back down to Mexico they will be 10x the value😂

Thy have them everywhere. No need to go crazy. You can get one for 20/30 bucks. Even Porto’s was making them.
I hate it, it’s super dry! Gotta have it with coffee. People just buy for tradition
They couldve just put a limit on the quantity of the item?
