Miami just won the Leagues Cup. Right before the presentation of the trophy, which is handed to the team captain, Messi removed his captain armband, and put It on Yedlin, who was the captain of the squad before Messi arrived; so Yedlin would receive the trophy. It was his way of respecting the man and the team. That is how humble Messi is. You just can't hate the guy.
That other dude is one of the best midfielders in history. He played with prime Messi his whole life, at Fc Barcelona..and now he plays with messi in Inter Miami. His name is Sergio Busquets...Messi also plays with a guy that used to play with him in Barcelona and that's Jordi Alba who was amazing in his prime too. And to be honest with you, yes the mls is kinda easy for messi, but the fact that he is 36yo kinda makes him try a little bit.
Messi chose Inter Miami over money. He still makes like 55-65 million a year, but allegedly, he would have made 500 million a year for 3 years if he went to Saudi Arabia.
If like it's been reported that he got a similarly discounted offer as Beckham to get his own franchise that would be worth into the billions if he continue to expand the sport. Inter Miami is already valued 600 million as one of the weakest clubs in the league and the sport is still in it's infancy in the US. He also make percentages of Apple MLS packages and shirt sales.
Those who take the arab money, become hostages. Look at Ronaldo carefully, and see the fear in his eyes. He got turned into some sheikh's pet. As one of Messi's countrymen, I say MLS all day
Coming to America says that he is getting ready to retire that much of a stepdown from competition it is....but we will always follow him every where he goes
You need to think bigger. He was brought for a long term mission and he is the first milestone. If he succeeds , it will be a great addition to his career. Staying in Europe won’t give him any extra benefit in his career because he completed it and won everything there. The objective is to change the football sport in MLS and attract more world-class players from Europe. Mega companies are behind this mission. Saudi Arabia is doing the same and brought Ronaldo, Benzena, and Neymar. To reach the near level of European football publicity, I think it needs no less than 5 years with good planning and budget.

Inter Miami was dead last in MLS before Messi arrived. Literally the WORST team. Now they won 7 games in a row in a tournament and became champions. He has that much of an impact. 7 games, 10 goals, 1 assist. Top scorer of the tournament even though he playted way fewer matches than everyone else.
You need to see the last 4 games in thr knockout rounds. Inter Miami won the leagues cup last night. MESSI, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba were Barcelona teammates for years and now all joined inter. If you want to see them in person, they play the Red Bulls on the 26th I believe. 10 goals in 7 games. Undefeated in 7 games. And it has just begun.
1:22 no I don't think the America will ever be THE soccer superpower. Best we could hope for is a top 10 league. We don't have certain aspects of the game that make it as competitive as Europe. Overall club quality (we invest only on attacking players), no promotion/relegation (something I believe we don't need to be successful, but do in terms of boosting meaningful matches played) and so on. We are decent, but steadily getting better. I'm happy with that. Messi will bring more eyes here and that's a fact. Dude has more of a following by himself than whole clubs here combined.
in all of the things you said you are correct in some and just tripping in others... usa will never ever will be nothing at football...starting with you calling soccer... and the worst of all, you still using the sport like something you get money of.. you just can't help yourselves... football ain't about money, is about passion.. yes you can earn what is right for you, but not the real goal... Messi now in the usa will try to teach about real football, but you are corrupted a long time ago... and stop calling yourselves America...you are just a sad country part of the great and real América. and to reply to you..." I don't think the America will ever be THE soccer superpower" not soccer, because that is just an invented word by kids, but superpower you do have in América and is called Argentina, the true champion of all.
3:47 to answer your question, its somewhere inbetween. MLS in the last 5 yrs has turned itself more into a development/selling league. They know they cant compete with the big european leagues but they can get young players from South america develop and sell them which is what they've been doing. So there is decent talent but comapred to messi genuinely he makes them looks semi pro. Some teams will give him issue lie Fc dallas who have a young talented player like Alan velasco or Nashville who have Hany muhktar an experienced talented german who gave inter a hard time. So to summarize, Inter miami will struggle because they're not great and mls teams are more competetive now but messi will be leaps and bounds usually ahead of everyone.
Hello Michael, if what you say is true, then Messi already wanted to go to Inter Miami before PSG, but they advised him to be a little more in competitive soccer in Europe to better get to the World Cup in Qatar. Also because of the way he is, humble, familiar, respectful. That's why he loves the US because he likes the lifestyle of that country. I also dreamed of living there as a child.-
That was great presentation. Thank you. Messi, Busquets and Alba were Trio in Barcelona and close friends. Other team players in Inter Miami needs little more time to adjust to how this trio think which is world-class way of football thinking that every split of a second matters.
Messi doesn't care that much for money. He chose Miami bc there are a lot of hispanophones and Argentines. It was a savvy decision. A much better place for his family, not to mention that Saudi Arabia is a weird dictatorship. Copa America is going to be there next year and WC is going to be in the US in 26. He could still well be playing for that too. Smart man.
they competed with suadi arabia by including the right for him to buy an extension club to the mls after his career in his contract, plus a share of appletv revenue. simmilar to how the mls managed to get david beckham who then created the club messi now plays for :P
miami is a better fit for messi than saudi arabia since theres a lot of spanish speakers in miami and messi is from south america anyway so hes somewhat closer to home and no doubt miami would be a better fit for his wife and kids than saudi arabia. Messi is still a cut above most MLS players but keep in mind messi is in his late 30s and a lot of mls teams have fast strong players as well as players that have played in europe at the top level. Basetball is quite popular in a lot of europe btw and the best player in the NBA right now is european.
The greatest of all time by far and arguably still the best player in the world playing in the US is wild. He's had a home in Miami for a while now amd turned down a 1.6 billion contract in tax free saudi to bring his family to Miami. As for the American league, it's really not that great comparatively to Europe. Watching Messi so far, you can tell he's not really trying. Yet, he's still taken the worst team in the league (Miami have been one of the worst teams in history this year) and he's taken them to arguably the best team in the league. In a sport of 11v11, that is extraordinary. I'm just glad to finally see him happy and playing carefree.
My grandma knows who is Lio Messi since earlies 2010. I ask her if she knew who Lebron James is. She replays Lerbon who Lebron what? never hear that name before.
Well, it's quite a step down. He was playing for Barcelona which was the greatest club in the world for ten years. And he just won the WC with Argentina. Finally. MLS is nowhere at his level. Nonetheless, he has brought them to victory, which I'm not sure you know how difficult that is. It's easy to bring a great elite team to victory. It's sth else to bring a mediocre team to win trophies.
its not that he wanted to come to america so badly, its that he spend the last years at the most toxic club in europe :P everybody would be overjoyed to ge tout of there, even if it is to a worse league.
America a soccer superpower ha ha and you think hes finally happy because hes in America? The MLS is garbage mate, why do you think Messi is ripping it apart at 36? Its like playing against school children for him after playing against the best in the world, great reaction but both those comments are utterly ridiculous and full of standard American ignorance of anything related to football and of how everything revolves around America, it doesn't.
no the messi move will not make us a soccer superpower, they tried this thing many times before, pele played in the mls for example PELE, he filled statiums all over the country but americans dont come to watch soccer, they come to watch messi/pele, as soon as pele retired stadiums were empty again, and the same will happen with messi. but what COULD make the us a soccer superpower is the proposed relegation system that seems to be in the works.
hey ,, inter Miami was the worst team in the nation , 6 straight Loses before Messi join,, but now inter miami is the winner of the league cup with unbeaten record since he there

So not true! He just won the WC and golden ball for best player of WC. He was the most highly rated player in Europe in stats last season, the only one with a rating of 8/10, and the most Man of the Match, 14. The young ones, Mbappe was 2nd with 7 MOTMs and Haaland was 7th in stats with 6 MOTMs. He is the best. Haaland is a goal poacher and tapinner. Mbappe also waits for the ball and tries to score, but misses four out of five of Messi's pinpoint passes.
Messi is destroying best teams in the world for almost 20 years in a row ,so this reactions from not knowing american guy feels like an insult and stupidity...some nobody youtuber wants more clicks no matter the reason!
Highly unlikely, Europe will as it is probably still be hosting the best leagues and players in the foreseeable future. The MLS got a little more accredited but with its system of youth development, lack of established fan culture, club histories and relegation, as well as the difference in timetable concerning player movement, this will (in my opinion) mainly impact the US public’s interest in the MLS as well as some passionate Messi viewers for Miami. Due to the next World Cup, interest in the US may reach a new peak for a bit. Due to Saudi Arabia’s sportswashing and bombarding every star player - and those starting to age past their primes - with cash offerings, I think if players in their prime want to prefer cash over accolades and (as of now) the most meaningful football trophies they will cash in at Saudi Clubs. MLS might still get more hailed player, that are „informally“ retiring from the bigger competition . Just my opinion from what’s currently happening :) Edit: currently, having Messi in the MLS is a bit like putting a shark in a goldfish bowl. Which is a compliment to Messi, but also shows the state of football quality currently in the MLS compared to the big European ones, where Messi would make an impact but never to this extend 🫣
