Great clear and concise video. I would add that none of this hacking harms built in onboard MVSX system and can be easily undone by resetting to Factory Defaults. And that accidentally running this option will undo all previous hacking quickly so all steps will have to be done again from scratch to get it to where it was. Been there, done that and back again :D
Yup! I just wanted to make a simple video for new MVSX user, so they can get started right away without the hassle. You can't brick the MVSX in any way with these OS'es and ROMS.
That is a personal choice i guess. The only thing a Pi4 will do for you, is replace that mobo and show the Pi on the LCD panel. I reckon you have to also provide a USB input for the buttons and sticks to the Pi. I want to keep this cabinet as non-bloated as possible, so i'm good with the packs. Personally, if i want to have a Pi4 running on this cabinet, i would've built a Pi4 cabinet instead of buying the MVSX.
@@fistbumpbros My MVSX is in bits at the moment. I installed an X-Arcade encoder, so it is switchable between RPI4 (batocera) and console (Dreamcast currently) via adapters. (Dreamcast is also going through TORO and Framemister, so it look and runs great). It works very well, but it’s a big job to get it looking as if it’s stock original. Im hoping to get it all fired up with one on/off button. As that is what I liked about the original MVSX. I’ve installed shelves in the stand, but will need to drill holes in the back for cabling, and make my own controller wiring harness. I’m starting to think it’s not worth it….. or beyond my skill level. The concept does work though.
I am not too technically adept so had a few newbie questions on the USB stick. Could the increased graphics in games such as Street Fighter Third Strike cause the original board to overheat? If I wanted to dedicate this to only Neo Geo only games could I just delete the other ROMs on the USB stick? Thanks!
It would not, as the program running the ROM has failed in protection running across while the game runs. There is a method of deleting specific roms, but you need to manage the text file and delete the roms carefully.
I'm kind of confused. So I can't put everything onto one flash drive??? ... I currently have HyloX, but I wanted to add the Omega and some genesis ganes.
Demon Front is overall slow due to the limits of the mobo. Adding the new cable is a must, even on the latest cabinet. From what I've read in the FB groups, Unico never changed the slow cable even on newer cabs.
Just changed it . Don’t notice the games any faster but I guess it might speed up the loading maybe and make it more stable I’m assuming .was easy anyway ta
The USB cable didn't work for me. I bought the same one in the video. Really sucks because it is very unstable. I will try plugging the USB stick directly into the unit and bypass the back connection.
Weird. I heard that there are two versions of the MVSX cabinet. One is a flawed version, so people are sending it back (also has problems with the LCD screen) so that might be it. Should just work. Let me know if inserting right into the mobo works better.

Hi,
What is the game your playing at 6:50 timestamp?
Great video!
Thanks
Hi, it's called Demon Front!
Great video, thanks!
No problem, hope it helped!
Do you recommend these MVSX packs over installing a Raspberry Pi4 with Batocera ?

Can you do an update vid installing Usagi3 Unitedv2?
I am thinking about it, i need to finish another video first and then dive into this 👊
Hello, does the USB port on the screen is in 3.0, more ? or less ? THX
It's a 3.0 port, but Unico provided a 2.0 cable in there. Maybe a cost issue thing.

Do you prefer HyloX or Omega for playing Neo Geo on the MVSX?
Usagi all the way. It has the original games + more, Genesis games and Arcade Classics.
I'm kind of confused. So I can't put everything onto one flash drive??? ... I currently have HyloX, but I wanted to add the Omega and some genesis ganes.
Nope. Each OS has to be on a seperate drive.
If I have the latest mvsx cabinet will adding a new 3.0 cable be of benefit? Demon front for example has a bit of slowdown in parts

@@andrewmaxwell7831 Yes, loads will be faster and more stable. The used cable was a 2.0.
I seem to be having random issues where sometimes the game just goes black and freezes, this is both plugged in directly and using a usb 3.0 cable.

Wow, uh. I have to look that up again. There's so many shmups on those packages, hah.
@@fistbumpbros I have an MVSX, the original Hylohack, and the tool to add more games. Are there any 'must play' games you'd suggest adding to it?
Personal preference of course, but I like the games on the Usagi pack the best.
How do u get mk3 working? It was sluggish
Works fine here. I did replace the USB cable though.
how do we add xeno crisis on hylostick? and the smash tv game etc..
Xeno Crisis is on Usagi, Smash TV as well if you switch to the Megadrive section (also Usagi)

It's the only place I'm afraid. You could try Archive.org

Yea it's basically the same image options as the original MVSX OS. The only OS that has a better built in image options setting is OMEGA.
