    OC. My mother who passed away last year at the age of 55 after a long battle with an autoimmune disease, was named after the triumph bonneville, her name was Bonnie. She was named that by her father, my grandfather, because of his love for bikes, and the bonneville t120r that he had at the time. I’ve recently just got my full motorcycle license, and I’m going to eventually own a T120, and every time I ride that bike, I’m going to feel a deep connection to my mum, who I miss so dearly. It’s funny how a machine can make you feel such emotion, after all, it’s only a machine? But to me, it’s a memory, it’s a tool to plunge me into deep thought about my mum and all of my memories of her. That’s why, for me, this is the greatest motorcycle ever built.

    OC - I recently bought a 24 Bonnie T120 black, silver tank and a brown seat. I've put on about 1,500 miles on it and this dude nailed the description! I was incredibly surprised by the power, aesthetics and handling of this bike. If you haven't gone to a dealer to look at one, I urge you to check it out, the design is just striking. This is my 5th bike and I'm set for life with this pig.

    I own a 23 Speed Twin 1200. The low end torque of those engines surprised me when I did the initial test drive. Plus they can tuned easily as they are Euro5 clogged up from the factory.

    • @operator0
      @operator0 3 месяца назад +2

      The Speed Twin and Thruxton have way more HP and torque than the T120/Bobber/Speed Master. The Scrambler is kind of in the middle of the two ranges. Of course, they also make the T100, Speed Twin and Scrambler with a lower HP 900cc engine. I think that engine has like 68hp, but still a good amount of low down torque.

    • @adventuretimemoto
      @adventuretimemoto 3 месяца назад +1

      @@genewoodward8695 yeah they are! I did the x pipe cat delete, reverse cone tips and had it Dyno tuned. 84hp and 78 torgs at the wheel. And it runs massively cooler solving the heat problem Chase mentioned

      I tried one some years back, was very underwhelming. The Bonneville Bobber at least looked pretty cool but a boring ride just like the Speed Twins.

    • @mindspinn311
      @mindspinn311 3 месяца назад

      @@operator079hp for the T120 and 98hp for the Speed Twin 1200. Different engine internals and different tuning. The Speed Twin is also 44lbs lighter. They feel/sound/rev and deliver power very differently. I have the T120 and sometimes I wish I had bought the Speed Twin instead, but the T120 is very good at being what it was meant to be. It doesn’t need the extra power, and it has plenty of torque. If I wanted a sporty, fast bike the Street Triple 765 is less expensive, lighter, and more powerful than both of them.

    • @shremich4583
      @shremich4583 Месяц назад

      Thruxton/Speed Twin have the 1200 HP / High Power engine
      Scrambler has the 1200 HP engine with less power than T/ST
      T120/Bobber/Speedmaster have the 1200 HT / High Torque engine or Less Power than the above

    @dirtroadie5747 3 месяца назад +9

    I found it interesting that he said he really liked it, but he didn't know why. It's that X-factor that some European brands do really well. The T120 is the Jaguar XKE of motorcycles. It isn't the fastest or a ready made track weapon, but it has beauty, class, and it isn't terrible at anything. It makes you feel good driving and owning one.

    • @shremich4583
      @shremich4583 Месяц назад

      i assume that the unexpected torque at 2.000-3.000 rev at the average speed, the deep sound, the smooth but powerfull handling and acceleration is the reason why the T120 give you that calm feeling like a slow heartbeat.

    OC - No. 1 Retro/Modern Classic - hands down. When I saw this bike, I was - meh. After riding Hondas for decades, I was thinking Ducati, then a Rocket, then Tiger, then Scrambler, then Bobber - this is the best. Other than a Dakar, there is not much you cannot do on this bike. Plus, you can personalise it in so many ways. Trent & Nick in Roswell hooked me up with a demo on a Tiger and T120. The Tiger was really good, but the T120 was an absolute dream - I literally hugged it like a teddy bear afterwards and did not want to give it back. It is incredibly smooth, confident, and comfortable. It just exudes quality and craftsmanship. I will get one … soon. The first thing I might upgrade would be progressive springs … and then enjoy for a long while before I go crazy and turn it into a cafe racing monster.

    I own a 2017 T120 Black, and I've spent a fair amount of time thinking about why I love it as much as I do. Here are some of the words I've come up with to describe it: Elegant, solid, steady, smooth, and powerful. As Chase said - it does a bunch of things well. More to the point though, it's the number of things that it does well that make this bike way, way better than the sum of its parts. In the end, and this obviously just my opinion, riding the T120 is a bit of an addiction.

    After over 7 years of production, these "new" Triumph parallel twins are still selling well. Prices have gone up a bit, just like everything else.
    My '22 Speed Twin was $12,800 with the optional Storm Grey paint.Did quite a few upgrades, and it'll pull hard from idle to 150mph. Got it down to just over 450lbs. after stripping every possible piece. Its one of them bikes nobody else wants to ride. The tourqe is exillerating!

    OC... I had a 2016 t120 I liked it but it sat too low so I kept my KLR. Problem with the KLR it has no power. So when a Scrambler 1200 came up I was able to sell both and get the scrambler. I like the ride height. I love being able to see over and around cars easier. The power in traffic is good. I'm able to do light offloading without bottoming out to go camping/hunting. Saves me some money on insurance so it was a win win.

    I test rode everything under the sun before I bought my T120 in 2019. On paper, unimpressive. But that's why rides tell you what numbers don't. The fact that it's not squeezing every horsepower out of its 1200 cc motor means it's unstressed, with loads of torque down low. It's the perfect blend of refinement and character. Comfortable, solid, just right for cruising, but also able to pick up the pace in a way a 700+ lb. cruiser can't. And it makes a great noise. It's only shortcoming is, while it can put a smile on your face in the twisties, it just doesn't have the flickability, precision and responsiveness of a sporty naked like a Street Triple. But you wouldn't expect that. For a nice Sunday ride, there's nothing better.

Considering a change from a GS1250 to the T120, whilst I love the GS it is a big bulky beast I thought would be great for touring, however most of my riding is country lane trips to a café or pub with my friends. It’s totally all inclusive bike. Fact better for caffe riding then Alpine trips but you can do it both. One thing is missing - it’s not the Harley. Some can’t handle, others don’t care. I was looking at the bonnevilles (t120 specifically), and the scrambler when purchasing my most recent bike. At the dealership the scrambler was a bit too tall for my liking, so I started sitting on the bonnevilles and ended up with the speed twin for the looks and 50lb less weight. I do regret getting the 900 over the 1200 but they were offering great deals on the 900s and budgets are a thing. I feel I may see a 1200 upgrade in my future(for better or worse) lol.

    My favorite modern classic would be its own other brother the Bonneville Bobber same engine but slightly tune differently with a little more torque to it than the standard t120 IMO looks way cooler feels custom out of the factory very low center of gravity with a single floating looking seat, so no player 2. Only cons I see is you'll be scrapping a lot with the lower clear angle and the suspension need little more to it if plan on going ham on it like its track day but around town its amazing not a tour bike at all but around town its really nice lol but it breaks a lot of necks haha

    This is my beginner bike. I've had mine for 9 months now, and I think it's a great beginner bike. That being said, I will be looking to upgrade to something more sporty in the near future. One thing I DO NOT like about this bike is the very odd front tire size (100/90 18). It really limits the tire choices, and I am sincerely concerned that tire manufactures will stop making tires for this thing. Right now, there are only two quality choices, and a handful of off brand tires to choose from.

    OC. Hands downs the best modern retro has gotta be the Kawasaki Z900RS. Just look at pics side by side of the 1973-75 Z1-900 and the current Z900RS: the ancestral DNA is undeniable. I may be a little bit biased since my first motorcycle in college, that I bought used from a dealership in northern CA in 1982, was a 1975 Z1-900B. Too much motor and not enough of anything else for an 18 year old newbie, so I sold it less than a year later. Replaced it with a fully built '76 RD400.

      I thought the Z900RS looked more retro in pictures than it does in real life, but that is somewhat true of the T120 as well. I don't consider the XSR900 to be much of a retro bike at all.

    OC: I've owned one and test rode 3 other Triumph models. I do like their looks, but I don't desire to own another one. Side note, your 40-80 run seems kind of dangerous for you and frustrating for the vehicles behind you that are also merging onto the highway. If possible, try positioning yourself in the back of line or something so there's little to no traffic behind you when doing it. Just my two cents.

    Buy a second hand air cooled T100 for £4k, it'll have all the extras, more ponies than the water cooled and 360 crank and trouser £6k, the new ones aren't better, they're heavier and slower and cost £££££ to derestrict

    Ah... the same Triumph model that Evil Knievel jumped Ceasars Palance ... didn't work out so well..LOL Now MADE IN THAILAND .. as are 99.9% of the parts are ... assembled in the UK... so it's said, but thats found to be baloney... Why not do some USED bike test rides... take out some oldies .. categorize each model based upon ownership costs, parts availability being a used mc, fun to ride meter... ask viewers what they want you to test ride .. start out w/ the Daytona 955i latter 147 hp model..great sportbike for new riders looking to jump up to a large bore sportbike .. CBR1000RR 2005... Daytona 675, older Bonnevilles, ZX10, Yamaha R6. etc etc.. motocycles are insanely expensive new.. Daytona 660 is $10K it's a Thailand built POS .. the fairings are held on w/ plastic push pins, you can see light thru them.... CF Moto, why is America importing shit from the CCP... their going to invade Tawain .. hate us.. try getting parts if China invades.. Easy to test ride new ..bikes..vs finding used . but few newbies can afford the insurance to buy a new MC... especially if financed .. point being getting more new riders, and keeping experienced riders...motorcycling is getting ridiculously expensive .. insurance keeps alot of new from buying, and old riders keeping their rides..

      The allure of dirt cheap Chinese slave labor is too much to pass over for many companies unfortunately. Also many western governments are just fine exporting all their manufacturing to China despite the massive human rights issues happening in that country.

    I own a 23 Speed Twin 1200. The low end torque of those engines surprised me when I did the initial test drive. Plus they can tuned easily as they are Euro5 clogged up from the factory.
