    I really love your videos and your personality! You inspired me to, as an adult, go back to taking ballet classes. Thank you, I have been needing to get moving more!

    Hi! I enjoyed the video! I teach Pilates / corrective exercise and I’ve studied extensively with Rebecca Leone. She has used a “one inch zipper” at the pubic bone to get the lift off the legs, panninni (sp?) press at the ribs, and pull yourself apart! She uses an ‘elevator’ technique to get the lift through the spine. Your dancers, who are lovely, have a depth of understanding regarding lengthening through the position that was beautiful to watch.

    hope you can make a video on weight shifting and putting weight on the balls of the feet. i am flat footed and its hard for me to shift weights. so I always put the weight on my heels.

      If you practice applying the idea of Zippers as demonstrated in this video it will help you put your weight forward over the balls of the feet. Remember that your skeleton is heavier in the back of the body than the front. In order to counterbalance that weight distribution you need to shift your whole body weight forward.

    thank you so much for this! i was recently accepted into ta professional dance school (before the shutdown) and i want to improve as much as i cant and my balance is one of the things i need to work on, this helped a lot in just the 5 mins i've attempted using it! Could you do a video with this same principle but in releve in posse or anyother one footed releve balance?

    I love these videos, however, I don't understand what "zipping" means?

    • @RPMDance
      @RPMDance  6 лет назад +7

      When I speak about "zipping" I am referring to zipping an imaginary zipper from the lower stomach to the middle of the sternum. That way your are engaging your core without swaying the back or over tucking. Does that help?

      RPM Dance Ok, thanks for the clarification. I appreciate your response and of course I learn SO much from all your videos. Please keep them coming. I like your explanations plus you seem like a really fun teacher to have. Don't get me wrong, I love my ballet teacher, but she doesn't have a lot of humor :-)

    Does Zipping mean sucking your stomach in? I don’t understand how to do it?

    • @Vanessa-tr7jb
      @Vanessa-tr7jb 5 лет назад

      I think it means engaging your abs in a way that brings the ribs closer together in the front. At least that is the way my ballet teacher teaches us.

    I have a really bad scoliosis. Balancing in turns is a nightmare! Lol.

    • @RPMDance
      @RPMDance  6 лет назад +1

      The most important thing to remember is to engage your abdominal muscles. If you do that will help stabilize your torso.
