I had blade free lasik 14 days ago and right now I feel like I have superhuman crispy crisp vision 😆 no pain, felt like I had a lash in my eyes for 2 days..but completely functional 6 hours after surgery. So far I am loving every single time I feel like Ive misplaced something to realize it’s my glasses that I no longer need! 😁 Im anxious to reach the 3 month mark, I pray I won’t develop lifelong regretful effects. So far it’s simply a beautiful world that I feel more free in. Hopefully I’ll be able to update this comment with good news!!

@@corinnar.6055 I know but the flap doesn't contribute anything to corneal strength. You need to subtract the ablation depth + flap thickness for what they call the RSB (residual stromal bed). Flaps can range from 100-160 um so if they made a thick flap this puts you more at risk.

Ten good reasons to avoid LASIK:
    1. The LASIK flap never heals. Weak scar tissue around the flap edge holds it in place -- like a Tupperware lid. But the flap itself is not attached and can be accidentally dislodged for life. Moreover, the LASIK flap creates a permanent portal in the cornea, which exposes patients to increased risk of late onset corneal inflammation or infection.
    2. The cornea is permanently thinner and weaker after LASIK. Corneal biomechanical failure (ectasia) may occur shortly after LASIK or many years -- even decades -- later. Young women of child-bearing age are at increased risk during pregnancy after LASIK.
    3. Researchers have found that LASIK patients may need cataract surgery up to 15 years sooner than people who avoid LASIK. To add insult to injury, the LASIK-altered cornea causes problems with cataract surgery.
    4. Osman et al. (2017) found that LASIK using the latest blade-free technology leads to posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) (floaters) in 85% of eyes that did not have pre-existing PVD.
    5. LASIK leads to falsely low intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement, exposing patients to permanent vision loss from undiagnosed glaucoma.
    6. Corneal nerves responsible for tear production are severed and destroyed during LASIK. No study at any time point has found that corneal nerves fully recover to normal densities and patterns after LASIK. Damaged nerves may lead to chronic dry eyes.
    7. Injury to corneal nerves during LASIK may lead to incapacitating neuropathic eye pain.
    8. Since LASIK does not eliminate the need for reading glasses after the age of 40 and studies show that visual outcomes of LASIK decline over time, virtually all LASIK patients will end up back in glasses - sometimes sooner rather than later.
    9. The FDA's latest LASIK study found that up to 46% of subjects who reported seeing no visual distortions (halos, starbursts, glare, and ghosting) before LASIK reported visual distortions after LASIK, and up to 28% of subjects with no symptoms of dry eyes before LASIK developed dry eye symptoms after LASIK.
    10. LASIK complications have led to corneal transplants, blindness, loss of eye, disability, unremitting eye pain, suicidal thoughts, and a number of actual suicides.

There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about how much I hate having to live with the complications that refractive eye surgery has caused. Getting it was the biggest regret of my life. These surgeries don’t do anything good. The cornea was never meant to be cut into. They literally comprimise and destroy the integrity and structure of the eye. Anyone can wear glasses and almost anyone can wear soft contact lenses. It’s absolutley disgusting that you promote these horrible and completely unnecessary prodecures. I could never live with myself knowing that I’ve literally caused people to take their own lives because they could not handle the horrible vision issues and/or severe eye pain these surgeries can cause. Clearly you can somehow live with yourself but you have to be a completely souless person to profit off of the misery of others and be alright with this. What goes around comes around.

I did lasik last month. I did blade less one. They said after one week it will be fine. After the next day of surgery I opened my both eyes. My left side of the eye is really clear. But right side was really bad blury. I was so worried. I waited for one week but it was same. And then I went to give my first review after the surgery I told them I can’t see properly from that eye so they said it will take some time to heal. I was waiting for the next review. Still was same. Then the doc says there is a bit of blur. And she gave new medicines for that eye for three months. If the vision is not clear after then also might have to do the surgery again. So hearing these things from doc I was so disappointed. I was happy when I wear the glass also but now from that blurry eye I can’t see anything properly. Feels like I’m blind. My profession is to work under the computer and now I’m struggling a lot due to the shit surgery. As per the doc she said while doing the surgery I have moved that eye. It was really painful. So obviously I cannot bear the pain so it happen. 😢

The 2nd laser procedure, the fix up, actually left me worse off. Now my distance vision is poor and glasses do not help much. Luckily I only had one eye done. The other eye is in good shape and I can still drive ok. If both eyes were like the botched eye, no way could I drive a car. Way too dangerous and the DMV would cancel my licence. I do not like the default surgery Drs put forward for cataracts. Several reasons: 1. Sucking out the bad lenses never addresses the reason we got the cataracts. 2. Placing two pieces of plastic one into each eye, In My Head, so the plastic can leach out, sounds like a BAD idea. The way medicine in practiced in the US is so tunnel vision/compartmentalized with no forward thinking on what the downside/consequences are of sucking out this oxidized lens and putting Plastic into my body! There ought to be an eye drop that arrests the development of cataracts or dissolves them. Cataract eye drops DO exist for dogs! Reason none for humans? Drs charges U $3200 to $6000 Per Eye to put in these pieces of plastic. No eye dr wants that nice revenue stream interrupted. One of the Ophthalmologists I called to ask some questions of in my area said she does 11 surgeries a day. Do the math--this woman is swimming in money.

So does that mean I can’t get laser eye surgery I’ve been legally blind since I was 12. I just wish I had clear eyesight in my right eye and my left eye. I’m not fully blind just blurry vision. I’m seeing memories and different colors and stuff in my eyes, I just wish that I could wake up in my side. Be totally clear. I keep having dreams about being having clear eyesight. I hope surgery can help my mom, but she said it’s not that kind of problem. We don’t know what it is. Maybe our surgery could help keep trying to tell her to try it out and see what happens, we can only see time. God bless me alike on the comment one like equals one prayer.

PRK is much safer. Studies show that long term ectasia is 4,5 times more probable in Lasik than PRK. The only long term disadvantage of PRK is that it is not applyable for hypermetropy (if a PRK is done in a hyperopic patient, it is very probable that the hypermetropy will return in the future).

This is blatantly false information, and if he's a real, practicing medical professional, he should lose his license for this. He's knowing spreading misinformation about the risks of a very serious, life-changing medical procedure. That's unethical. Yes, many people have had their vision improved with corrective surgery, but "slight blurring that can be corrected later" is objectively NOT the worst thing that can happen after laser eye surgery, and making such a claim, from the position of an expert, is dangerous.

After leaving the Army, Max returned to Texas. In July, 2015, Max opted to have a PRK laser eye surgery retreatment because his vision was declining. Max experienced several common complications of laser eye surgery, such as dry eyes, constant eye pain, declining vision, corneal haze, and night driving problems. The complications he suffered took a huge toll on his quality of life and prevented him from working and continuing his education. To add insult to injury, Max felt that his laser eye surgeon was arrogant and lacked compassion. Max wrote several suicide letters stating that he was going to kill himself because his laser eye surgery had ruined his eyes and his life.”
