America top 40 recordings of Casey Kasem on every Sunday when I was a kid. I still listen to his recordings on the radio as an adult. His family still fighting over the money in court. Jack Lord had everything he owned donated to charity.
That Ron guy (Ray Danton), is the same person that played Chester Sierra on The Rockford Files. "Now, this garden was given to me to watch over by Lou Guispoda, while he's out of the country coolin' off, but before he leaves, he says to me, 'Chester - don't you never let nobody plant nothin' in your garden without you gettin' something of what grows!"

Casey Kasem away from his American Top 40 show. He made several appearances on this show (another being "Mother's Deadly Helper" in 1974) Ray Danton with his black hair and dark complexion easily passed for a native Hawaiian. I had several of those cassette recorders back then (they were actually Panasonics) They were of good quality for the times. Book 'em Danno!!!!!!
Ray Danton appeared on three episodes of Hawaii Five-0. The Last Eden (1970), Cloth of Gold (1972), Buy Now, Steel Later (1974). His dark hair and complextion, he could play Arabs, Hindus, Mexicans, Orientals, Pacific Islanders, Italians, Eastern Europeans.
Thanks for the upload !! Awesome episode.. Love it when they use retail in a storyline.. XD And Goof at the end the Colby's voice sounds less intense on the recording..Than when he is yelling at Casey.. XD
Agreed, it's great to see real retail locations in a storyline. Gives one a sense of how things used to be. Not too common in TV shows unfortunately, maybe because it is difficult to get permission from the business to film. And I agree the recording sounds much less intense than the threat the actor delivers live.
Thanks for this! I'm doing a series this week on my blog, '70s crime solving shows, their music intros -- today was Hawaii five 0 -- tomorrow is The Rockford Files.,, Blue Collar Lit.
This was a classic episode, because 1974 was also the year that Panasonic (just slightly ahead of their time!) had come out with their "Take N'Tape" cassette recorders, which came in various colors-i used to own a Yellow one,and did i ever use it,back in those days,a decade before VCRs,and i drove people nuts! the "HAWAII FIVE-O" episode that used these new gadgets as "Tranasonics" was a cleaver way to promote these gadgets!
This is one of Jack Lord's finest moments telling the guy to read his rights then tells Danno to "book 'em Murder 1 Grand theft for openers" and even tossed in a tape recorder as a welcome home gift to his new home - the jail. Apr 22, 2020 @ 12:15 pm
A man and a phone. No overhead. What a deal. Finally figured out that the punch card reader phone is a Western Electric model 660. Usually see GTE phones on Five O!
That's voice actor and "America's Top 40" host Casey Kasem playing a store owner who is being forced to swallow stolen merchandise; actor-director Ray Danton (R.I.P. for them both, as well as the regulars in this show) as the criminal peddler.
To believe this tape recorder was the cutting edge technology in 1974 we have come a long way in almost 50 years. I know the kids today are inundated with the internet and cell phones activity but if you use this technology to learn it can be a great time. However if you waste your time on video games, streaming media, social media, porn and other garbage content the old days would seem much better.
3:20 When the Music started to PLAY the CHILLS of FAIT run Down my Spine Because McGarret ALWAYS had a SOILD CASE With out FAIL !!!! the CROCK was Always DOOMED...LOL
Ray Danton, too cool but BUSTED...after playing those recordings, I thought he was about to read off something like, "I have the right to remain silent...etc. etc." to close out the episode...I would have died laughing.

@@SOCORROSILVA-in7px well anyway I know it was the summer of 1974 humble Harve filled in for him on his radio show American Top 40 while he was filming the show in Hawaii. The show aired in the fall of 1974
It is MOST cool! I still have a red one too that my brother and I received for Christmas in 1973. I recorded 100s of hours of TV shows then put it away for 35 years. That little "Tranasonic" - Panasonic still works!!
Jack Lord/Steve McGarrett - principled, ethical, disciplined. Could you see him or any of his guys on the Hawaii PD shoot an unarmed guy 10 times and try to get away with it? Me neither.
@Erhu Player A tape recorder is a powerfull weapon because it can be used against you or to help clear one's name. I welcome only nice remarks or comments over here. Apr 22, 2020 @ 12:25 pm
Sort of stupid first he acts like you got nothing on me, oh by the way the chief of police and 2 other officers overheard you say it, isn't that enough to put him away?
I confess I never watched the new series apart from the odd trailer. There is a certain aura to the classic series that's difficult or impossible to match.
Jack Lord was all class.
Casey Kasem was also a passenger in the first Airport movie. I remember his voice on American Top 40 every Sunday morning on WMC FM 100 in Memphis TN.
Scooby Doo!
Casey Kasem also voices Cliffjumper from Transformers: Generation 1
He also hosted the syndicated television version of AT40 called “America’s Top 10” throughout the 1980s.
Native of Detroit Michigan and Alumnus of Wayne State University
Never gets old.
There is only one 5-O no replacement period!!!!
I had that exact same recorder ! Wow ! Of course it was a Panasonic . Man... made a lot of recordings with that. Used cassettes from Radio Shack !
I bet you never recorded a criminal's confession though!
Love those old tape recorders.
Jack Lord was the smoothest man on the planet.
and now i want a recorder !! LOL !!
@GageGamer829 WOW! you lucky thing that's something you will never forget.x
@GageGamer829
Where was the party at?
Did he come alone? Or did he come with his wife?
@GageGamer829 Was Jack ok? It's been said that he never worked after Hawaii Five-O wrapped because he was already developing early Alzheimer's.

Secret Agent Super Dragon.
Hawaii Five -O is brought to you by Panasonic Take N Tape. Just sightly ahead of our time.
The famous line, "Book 'em Dano". Poor Dano, always got stuck doing the paperwork. 😄
In the mid 80s i got to hang with Casey at my high school. He really loved music
Top 40 coast to coast !! XD
Loved this show. Also loved seeing all the classic toys
Casey played a pretty good gangster for top 40 dj. Nice post.
I worked for years at an appliance and electronics wearhouse in the Midwest -- I can really relate to this classic 5 0. Episode. A favorite!
i love it how everyone is playing the recorder and steve goes here is a present for ur cell love it love steve

What an ending
Another classic episode of hawaii 5 o. We back at late 70s.
This episode aired on October 1, 1974.

And loved it when Danny, Chin and Duke all showed up with the tape recorders too
"here's a present for your cell"...classic! How far we've come in technology since those cheap recorders. lol
Ray Danton with a mod haircut--Legs Diamond himself!
My brother had a Panasonic Yellow tape recorder just like the Tranasonic brand.

Interesting that they used first season outro music (which I particularly enjoy this one) for the ending here, considering it's so many seasons later.
Me TV had the great classic Hawaii 5 0 on and took it off for that crap Mama's Family. What a joke!
