Does anyone else have a RUclips experience where you serially listen to/watch a song dozens of times? This is one of them. When I love something I listen to it and watch it till it gets burned into my brain. For better or worse - into everyone else's in the house as well! Love it.
Yes. But I will throw a curve ball at you all. I've watched the Cab Calloway/Nicholas Bros. performance of Jumpin' Jive from the movie Stormy Weather many, many times. I am amazed each time. I know, I'm a music schitzo… query in youtube on Cab Calloway and Jumpin' Jive. You will find it.
Love Brittany's voice, never heard her sing before. Listening to this for about the tenth time in a row as I'm working remotely at 10:30 pm on a beautiful warm Sunday night in Pereira Colombia.
So glad I found this, I just had a very profound moment yesterday and came looking for a certain kind of music, this is it. How absolutely frickin beautiful can anything in this world be. I now realize I have spent my entire life with the wrong people doing the wrong things. I am absolutely certain that you can not play such amazing and beautiful music unless you are an amazing beautiful person. Thanks.
Going to see these two tomorrow along with Tim O'Brien for a Christmas show. Can't say I was familiar with them but now I'm excited! Great fiddling, singing and I LOVE that simple and pretty banjo picking!
Yes. For the "Red and white ..." and "Black and blue ..." verses the sequence is: F C Dm F C Dm F C (final C is omitted at the very end of the song). For the "Come on ..." verses the sequence is: C G Dm C F G. Banjo is in double C tuning (gCGCD), but tuned down one-half step so it sounds in the original key of B. Aoife plays this on the guitar in G capo 4, sounding in B. So the actual chord sequences as they sound (rather than as they are fingered) are E B C#m E B C#m E B and B F# C#m B E F#.
Absolutely gorgeous - the music & the girls. Saw Brittany at Bedford (England) 2 years ago with Crooked Still, what a great night, and got talking briefly with her afterwards, delightful. I forgot to mention to her that I am rich & single.
Really cool to see a viola with a violin folk music -- it's a great sound. Just to help their memories out the "Canadian tune" Grey (not Gray) Owl was written by John Arcand of Saskatchewan. I'm wondering I assume the 5-string violin is CGDAE? So is the 5 string viola then FCGDA? Or what?
The tune might be in G major or could be in D. Need to work it up to know for sure. Anybody, can you help me with either sheet source or something? And thanks -- great tune !
Brittany , an inspired performance from you and Lauren, great hearing you again after many years. Bebe and miss seeing you!
Please some more ladies... magnifique 🇦🇺🍻😎

I have watched this vid about 65+ times, over 3 years. It is the gold standard of new grass fiddle tunes, no doubt.
yep i was just thinking the same thing. Wehave a fiddle fiddle festival in Brittany and i would love to have these two over one day.
yeah, this is among the prettiest things i've ever heard. it doesn't get any better.

I’ve been looking for well played viola fiddling. This is the closest to that. . 5 string viola and a 5 stringed violin in one video. Fabulous! ❤️❤️❤️

The 5 string violin and 5 string viola are tuned the same! They are just different body sizes. Good question!
Does anyone have any insight into what the chords are for the O'Donovan tune?
Does anyone know where i can get ahold of sheets for gray owl?
i do as well son i run 24/7
The tune might be in G major or could be in D. Need to work it up to know for sure. Anybody, can you help me with either sheet source or something? And thanks -- great tune !
MOST OF DO NO DISRESPECT
wait? how are their fiddles tuned????
From low to high CGDAE, a regular fiddle plus a low C string.
you should play five strings fiddle :)
I think they are tuned down a full step - G on the A string, and so on, but still in fifths. Listen at around 0:41 when they are tuning open strings.
