- "Red Rocking Chair", performed by Brittany Haas & Lauren Rioux with Bruce Molsky (www.www.laurenandbrittanymusic.com) in concert at the Institute of Musical Traditions (www.imtfolk.org), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA on June 9, 2012.
Bruce Molsky Presents: "Traditional music continues to evolve with time and place, a perpetual, joyful work in progress . Brittany and Lauren have both learned their lessons from old traditions but are also highly informed by what's new. That puts their intimate and soulful music in the forefront of what's going on in the acoustic music scene!"
Many people know Brittany Haas from her time touring with Tony Trischka or with Darol Anger's Republic of Strings. Brittany grew up honing her craft in fiddle camps nationwide, and came to her unique sound through the old time fiddling of Bruce Molsky & and the innovative stylings of Darol Anger.
Lauren Rioux is a rising star in the national fiddle scene. She performs with Darol Anger's Republic of Strings, Scott Nygaard and Crow Molly, and the StringNation Orkestra. A classically trained violinist and violist, Lauren discovered traditional fiddle music in 2001 at the first National American String Teachers' Association Convention. She is an excellent role model and source of useful information for classical players wishing to "cross over' into vernacular styles.

A Brittany Haas smile is worth more than gold.
You can't get more talented than these three.
Boy, that's just about as country as cornbread. When I was a child back in the 40s and early 50s, that's what we called makin' music. We used to go and sit on the back porch and listen to Big eared Billy Standefer play the fiddle. That was in Sequatchie and Bledsoe county, TN. What fine memories.
Another "happened on it," and made me really happy!
From Canada, we are thankful for this kind of music
I just started fiddling one year ago and Brittany Haas is definitely my favorite fiddler today.
such honest performance as it would have been in it's roots. There something special and deeply rooted
Joy !
Who in the world would down vote this? Love this group! Thank you!!!
I Loved it. Great vocals and instramentals
Fantastic. Haven't followed Bruce, but am addicted to Brittany and Lauren. Great stuff.
I love to hear Brittany and every one of her talented, talented friends. God bless you, girl!
Truly American! Great harmony, fideling & banjo playing!

Like that Honeybabe Blues!!!
Yes It's again it's me. To cut to the chase this is an outstanding performance and I always play it (too loud) for my late ending dinner parties... had a smattering of rain to dat and the crickets are making themselves known

Dave Lindley
Very good
me gusta mucho
Outta the chair round the table an across the flur,
Nice sound.
At the present time it's in the key of C, about 20 cents flat. I exspect it was about the same 8 months ago when you asked
love this tune, great version . anyone know what key this is ?
Terrific! Isn't that a viola the young woman is playing? It looks much bigger than Bruce's instrument.
It´s a 5 string violin *
1st class old timey music - is someone playing guitar off screen? I can hear bass notes that cant possibly be from the banjo or fiddles
I filmed and edited this piece and only these three artists were present.
It's probably because she's playing a 5 string fiddle, has extra range
@@imtfolk thanks - just listened again and couldnt hear it this time! very strange.
When the girls sing the band loses the drive.
