- The late Lisa Blount just kills it on this old southern Appalachian tune, "Red Rockin' Chair" in the 2005 film "Chrystal," written and directed by her husband, actor Ray McKinnon. It is such a fine film!
Heard this as a little boy growing up in the Ozarks,
This is an incredible film and the music is haunting.
Amazing. I get chills from this song every time.
I wish this song was like 10 mins I could listen to it all day love her voice
I visited Lisa's grave in Arkansas last summer. A beautiful place.
She was so incredibly talented, so sad that this was the only take and only recording of this incredible rendition of red rockin chair.
The best song ever to sing when your heart hurts
I was not aware Lisa had passed. That is very sad but she left one hell of a performance with this film. It is tragic that few have actually even heard of it. (I came across it only recently) And even more tragic that a full, motion picture soundtrack does not exist anywhere. Yet you can find soundtracks for the 50 Shades Of Gray series. Very sad indeed.
How do you erase this song from my mind . Its haunting and sad and lovly
This movie was shot right in my hometown in 2 places seligman mo and Garfield arkansas
She should've recorded this on an album.
Reminds me so much of growing up in Western N.C. my family and I would always pick and sing these old classics! And the fighting out back of " establishments" lol
Oh man I love Western NC. Beautiful country. I usually go to Haywood County every summer to escape the hellish heat of South GA.
Beautiful
Is there an actual audio recording available of just her and this song?
That's what I wanna know !!??
I’d sure like to find one!
No

This is the absolute best version of Red Rocking Chair I’ve ever heard. Even better than Boggs’.
