I found one at Savers for 10 bucks. I did some research on google on looking up the year it was made by checking the numbers on the label and found out it was made in 1969. The same year I was in boot camp.Who knows maybe it was the same one I had while in the Army. After 50 years I finally have fallen in love with this jacket.
Got a perfectly preserved (It literally looks like someone was issued it, and then immediately put it into their closet and forgot about it) OG-107 with aluminum zippers that was made in 1967 for $50 at a nearby Surplus Store!
1993..found a tri color desert m65 brand new, still sealed in it's plastic bag at a flea market. I talked the vendor down to $ 15.00. still have it...still wear it. $ 350.00 is a bit over the top.
Just went to the Cockpit USA page and there it goes for$495.- That's insane. I wonder, if it's got a better quality than the Alpha, the original M65, that comes at a lower price?
Im jealous, i got a single M-65 for 60 euros (around the same price in dollars) in woodland camo but there's was no info at the shop where the jacket originated
Wow! That's a great deal! I bought mine on eBay for $70. Came with the liner as well, which I absolutely LOVE when I go into the woods at night when it's extremely cold. Wish I would have been issued an up to date one in the Marines (02-06).
I bought one for 12 bucks at Savers recently. It didn’t have no patches on it. So , being a veteran, I sewed on my old 1st. Cav. patch , USArmy patch and made my own name patch out of one inch nylon strap and printed my name with a sharpie pen. It looks like the real deal.
@alonzo calvillo, thank you for your service, and if you wanna switch out, you could if u want to on military uniform supply and customize name tapes, and buy Branch tapes, division patches, clothes, and they are great, just a idea.
@@No_fritz01 Thanks for the tip but I ordered my own name tag from them after finding that they made name tags. Now it looks like the one I wore back in my Army days.
Damn!! Thats expensive, I have a Czech army surplus m85 field jacket in olive drab that I paid only $14 for. It's really heavy duty and I love the rugged look that it gives off
Dude you were ripped off for sure... no m65 is $400 unless it has gold hidden inside it but even then its overpriced! This vid has to be a joke tho lol.
true, those are not high end jackets with gore tex and a bunch of exotic materials, they are more like VW beetles, even the alpha industries one is overpaid like hell. For 400 dollar you can buy a leather jacket or high end outdoor jacket with prime loft insulation and down feathers, gore tex etc..
Though cockpit USA is a quality brand and does make things to proper military spec, I’d only recommend their leather goods. Especially when the M65 even in 2022 is still available at good prices at surplus stores and on eBay
I have one that was made in 1967 and it’s still in good shape. That one by Cockpit has better stitching and modern fabric. I bet that jacket you bought will last over 100 years before it’s worn out. No joking.
I own like four military surplus M65 field jackets none were $300 us dollars not even combined price. I have; ACU camo with liner, DCU desert 3 color camo and two woodland m81 camo. if you looked on eBay or at a military surplus store there only $65 new.
I just got a brand new one that was made in 1991 from ebay today. The person who sold it said that they were issued it and that it stayed in a duffel bag for a while and was never worn.
I bought mine for $84 ,EXACTLY the same.Still ,if you are happy with it ,thats all that matters . over the course of 25 years its still nothing . It will last a lifetime.
In germany you can order the M75 online wich is a copy for the austrian military, it's made of a 65% Nylon 35% Cotton blend and is even more heavy duty as the american M65, you can get them for like 30 € with shipping in almost new condition wich is like 35 USD
Like the review! From reading the cockpit website it seems their liners are either very good quality used or unissued original military stock. The jacket looks very nice. Hefty price. But you get what you pay for, I guess.
I got mine in woodland, excellent condition for 100. That liner is definitely overpriced, it's a common surplus item that can be found from $12-20, depending on condition. I guess if you really really want an OD one you would fork over the price for this.
For people confused as to why this jacket is so expensive ($350+) it's because, from what I understand, it's made in America, from American materials, by Americans. Most jackets of any kind you get now are imported, made in Sri Lanka, or India, Vietnam, or some place that's not here, and those jackets can cost $200. I will say that the jacket is probably overpriced as a straight jacket, but you are delving into a legacy of Americana in buying a jacket like this going back 50 years. I will probably pick one up in the future. Thank you for a wonderful review. Do another with you in it! See how it fits & give us your feedback now that you've had it for a while.

@@HydraBox777 The ones made by the companies you mention -- including Alpha -- are all made in China. That of course does not mean they're bad. But the production quality will be better on the cockpit one. I have both a civil issue Alpha and a Helikon Tex. Prefer the Helikon Tex for its sturdier feel. But both clearly cut corners nowadays and are not quite like the original military issue. The Alpha actually had the hood sewn on inside out!!! Fixed it myself, but that should not really happen.
Bro you should only pay like 85$ for the jacket and liner and I got mine for 22$ at a thrift store and I'm getting the liner for 11$ you got totally ripped off man

$350 is Nutts, I got an un-issued 1980ish M65 Alpha Industries Made in the USA for $75.00 with no Liner, that was $20 on Ebay.
I bought one from an Army Surplus last weekend for $29 with the liner. It was used actual USGI issue, not a reproduction. Got it in woodland camo.

Who the hell wants a new one when you can go authentic for even less?
