good info!! thanx! I had a 41 when I was a kid. Got it at a goodwill for about 50 Cents. Wish I still had it
I wanted one for years and finally got one a few months ago.
Oh what I would do for a 50¢ M41 jacket
@@WWIIman1942 That would be an awesome find!
@@WWIIman1942 me too now! Had some old wool Korean vintage shirts I wore out hunting in... Oh if only I had known. When really little about 6-7 I went with my dad to an army surplus place in the Seattle area. There was a crate about 4x4 foot full of German helmets they were $5 apiece. I wanted one but Dad was a WW2 veteran and didn't see the need for such stuff
@@megarouge61 Damn! I sure wish surplus stores were still like that. It would make putting my WWII impression together so much easier. And German helmets for $5 a piece!! Nowadays they can go 50-100x that price! Crazy how cheap stuff was back then.
I have a second hand military issued M65 jacket from 1978. That jacket is really for winter and rainy days. I wore it for 3 years now and it's still good as new
That's awesome
I just got an Italian M75 it’s so old the copper is oxidizing on some snap caps and the buttons smell like a handful of old warm pennies but otherwise is good as new just get buttons that don’t stink and there ya go
I haven't much in the way of U.S. military, but when you got to the M65 pattern, I paused the video to grab my jacket purchased about a year ago. I'll be darned if it isn't an M65! I bought it, hung it on the wall and forgot about it. I had not taken a close look at it. Buttons for liner, hidden hood with drawstring under collar zipper, Velcro! Great collection showing evolution of these U.S.military field jackets. Mine has rank badges on sleeves (three stripes-Senior Airman), and" US AIR FORCE " above left chest pocket.
It sounds like you have a nice jacket in your collection. Thanks for watching.
My grandfather was in Cuba in early 1965 and was issued an M51 jacket but it had od green buttons. They must have changed the buttons for some reason to suit the environment. Anyways nice video man
They may have changed the buttons like you said. Thanks for watching.
i know what jacket your talking about i have the same jacket but mine has brown buttons are you sure he was not issued the m65 because the military would never go through the prosses of doing that because the 51 has brown well the 65 has green.
@@leloupdesmers7328 I'm sure it's not the M65. It doesn't have the hood in the back and has two different drawstrings
they actually made two difffrent version of the m-65 one had the hood with velcro well the other was just like m-51 but had green buttons and a ziper but its still interesting i wish these jackets and helmets could talk lol
also weird question do you own a surplus store beause i know i have seen that name before as a surplus store
I found a early and m 43 jacket model B in mint condition size 36 I guess they made many improvements upgrades on the m43 jacket during its production run during World War II keep up the good work you have a great collection
Thanks for watching my videos. Sounds like you have a great M43 Jacket. Congrats. I love this hobby.
*wears an m65 jacket*
'Spare some change for a vet?'

Or even doing a Robert Deniro impression as well.

I haven't posted much in the past month or more. I have been really busy with work and super tired. I honestly haven't been buying much lately either.
It's all good, glad you and your family are ok

Another great video as always. I hope you and your family is doing well. I was wondering if you could do a video on how to identify Navy Uniform/ Jumpers? I am having trouble distinguishing between the Korean war and Vietnam war uniforms. Any information on the subject would be much appreciated.
I can help you if you would like I collect us navy headgear and Uniforms Spanish American war- Vietnam era
My brother was in the Army in the early 80's and his M-65 had Velcro pocket fasteners. I'd never seen that before.
Thank him for his service. Sometimes soldiers may alter their gear, equipment, clothing, etc for what works out best for them. I wonder if he received a jacket that had been issued before and maybe that person modified it? Just a thought.
I just look at the designs of the collars on the jackets to tell the difference between them. My personal favourite is M-51(I have two, plus two Norwegian M-75 jackets that are pretty much based on the design of the M-51, but have camo patterns). Nice collection you got there.
Thanks for watching.
Always look at the buttons, they tell you everything you need to know
Definitely
thanks, better short and coming to the point than boring long discriptions.
Thanks for watching. I enjoy making videos like this.
I got something very similar to the M65, but with button wrist adjustments, and got it from Sainsbury's once so it ain't a real one obviously. Pretty well made though.
That's cool. There are a lot of really good reproductions. Thanks for watching.
Nice info, I have a m43 I got from ebay complete with the hood. I love it to pieces.
Awesome. Thanks for watching.
@Johnboy Militaria The M65 also uses a button on artic hood as well.
Thanks for the info
Just got ahold of a nice M1951 jacket last weekend. Your video helps clarify the differences, Should I come across the M1941, M1943, and M1950, I'll know what I'm looking at. Thanks JohnBoy09!
Thanks gunnerjames
Thank you, sir! great video ... I got 3 jackets out of the 5, missing the M41 and M50
Thank you for watching

Awesome, man! Would you mind if I ask how much you paid?
@@KeepItBrick I paid a 1 dollar for the m51 and my aunt's boyfriend gave me the m65

M-65 style jackets are so fucking comfy in cool weather. At least if you like real heavy jackets
They are for sure

That's true
I just bought an M-65 from 1982. I assume it's still considered and M-65? It is camo made by Alpha Industries. It is NOS no patches or insignias.
I believe so
check out on ebay my uncles m51 I just listed. never find a nicer one and full of history with the fssf patch and colonels rank. its mint
I will take a look.

Nice. What was the purpose of the epaulettes?
I have an M41 field jacket this similar jacket appeared in
Saving Private Ryan although Private Ryan didn't wore
the M41 jacket because he was in the Airborne Division.
That's really cool
Thank You.
Thanks for watching
I have an older field jacket with buttons do you ever heard of a company called well worn it was made by that company it's the exact same jacket like a world war II made by well-worn it has the buttons and everything no zippers it also says Union made
Sounds like an aftermarket clothing company that makes vintage style clothing.
Great Thanks!
Thanks for watching
I just inherited my grandfathers M-65
That's awesome. Congrats. Always keep it in the family.
Thank you very much
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
I thought that this was a really good video. Do longer videos. I thought that it was NOT boring.
Thank you for watching.
Beautiful
Thanks
Have you ever seen a porche military vest? I've gotten one from my grandpa who served with the IDF and I cant find anything similar to it
I haven't myself.
Tell me, when was velcro invented?
I believe sometime in the 1940s or 1950s. Not 100%.
Did they put division patches or rank on field jackets?
Yes, they did.
The m65 in M81 had unit patches and a full color us flag
@@treerat7631 My dad had the M81 M65 when he retired in the 90's I think he sold that years ago but we still have both of his original OG107 M65's though.
Hi, thank you for informative video!
There is a question I'd like to ask. I have two patterns of M-51field jacket, which I bought in japan. The definite difference is a collar: size, buttons. The smaller collar one has a tab closure. Do you know the pattern like this?
I'm not 100% sure on that one. I will look into it for sure. Thanks for watching.
@@JonBoyMilitaria
Thank you !
@@ev8970 You're welcome. Anytime.
What is the name of a company who made a zipper for model 1951?
I will check and see.
Lot of humidity in this video. You must live in Kentucky
Also the M51 has a different cut collar than the m43
Mississippi
JonBoy09 lol they’re only a Tennessee apart, close enough

I have my dads m41, my uncles m43 and m51. I love them all b6323bg on ebay look me up great FSSF for sale there of my uncles 2nd regimental commander
I have my great grandpas M51 Field jacket
That's awesome. Thank you for his service.
i have a ww2 field jacket but no tags, the tag info is printed directly on the jacket.
do you know what model it is? thanks
Do you have instagram? I would love to see pictures of your jacket.
Sounds like a M50 or M51 for some reason. what does the info say?
@@michaelbenjmitchell1 it says '' jacket,feild,1943'' and then directions on how to wear it. also, all buttons front. thanks .
How do I get paint out of a Vietnam war jacket normally I would leave it alone but it's in a mint absolute mint condition except for the red paint (I am absolutely for sure it is paint) how do I get the paint off
You might could try taking it to a dry cleaners and ask what they might could do to get it removed safely.
@@JonBoyMilitaria we don't have that we actually don't have one in town
Hmm. Not real sure what else would be safe to use in order to not damage the jacket.
Ok
The oldest buttons are the brown buttons
Thanks for the info.
1951 collar design is different to the 1950.
Thanks for the info
you know.. you know.. you know.. um... you know... um... uh...you know
Thanks for watching
Will military issue jackets always list the manufacturer name on the tag? Just bought one and everything seems legit, it just doesn't give the manufacturer name anywhere.
Most of them will. There may be some manufacturers that mark their jackets somewhere else on the jacket.
@@JonBoyMilitaria Really? Where would that be?
@@callmeinstead it depends on the country of origin. I have a French F4 feild jacket it has the city and mafurfecer name it was made in
Is that blood on that jacket?
Not sure honestly. Sometimes items look like they have blood on them but it could be rust or another random stain.
M65 prices bro
Alot of the M65 field jackets that I have seen for sale lately are usually $50 - $100
I'm not quite sure why but one of my m65 jackets lacks straps on top of the shoulders like most have
Was it made like that are do you think a soldier modified it?
@@JonBoyMilitaria I've looked at it in detail it really looks like nothing was ever on there so I'm guessing it was made like that
@@JonBoyMilitaria I know it's an original from the Vietnam era
@@FordBronco-pz4lv Ok. Not sure why the straps would be missing. That's interesting.
@@FordBronco-pz4lv It probably was then
Theres so many replicas of the m65 jackets but the replicas of the m51s are almost non existent. Thats too bad because the M51 jackets to me are much nicer looking
@@CHRISMED2 They are for sure. Thanks for watching.
Where can I get them tho? Old or brand new
I usually get mine from Antique Stores, Flea Markets, etc
JonBoy09 oh ok cool thanks. I’m going to look for one at thrift stores and goodwills. I plan to patch them up with all sorts of patches. Get that taxi driver jacket

that's b26323bg on ebay
he server in ww2 , korea and vietnam and retired after Vietnam
he was in the navy during ww2 and swapped to the army in the late 40s
Wow. 3 wars? God Bless him.
How would you know if the jacket is a legit military jacket and not a reproduction? If someone can point me to a guide I would appreciate it
Usually the repro jackets have manufacturer tags that are from companies that didn't make the originals. Also, sometimes the stitching, thread, etc is not the same.
I have a genuine 50's US Army Korean War Officer's Trench Coat and two US Army Coat Parkha with inner lining - all in good condition. Please contact me if interested...
