It's interesting hearing Frusciante covering these Radiohead songs. Kinda full circle. Thom Yorke said that it was his appreciation of the way Frusciante played guitar, just playing the low root note and high 3rd, like he did on songs like Scar Tissue etc, which inspired him to write the chord progression for Reckoner.
If a badass electric guitarrist like Frusciante is willing to do an acoustic cover of Radiohead, it is NOT a shitty cover It's merely a tribute, from greatness to greatness.
@fabsternyc exactly. people just don't understand that and they more than likely wont ever. just a fraction of johns singing comes from the sound of his voice. But as far as the rest I'd say it's the emotions he contributes to the covers and songs he sings that shows his true talent.
