Thank you so much for all your videos. I got a quick 3 month class in aircraft upholstery and was blessed to have a great teacher that gave me his passion for this work but I still need to learn so much.

Sometimes, I think to myself if I would do a living of my art I would be millionaire. But, it is only a dream, 'cause I have not reached that point, yet. Hopefully, one day in the future. Thanks so much for watching this art craft!
I should be able to reupholstered my vintage 1980s trash picked wingback chair with real leather after watching this. I would also use the old vinyl upholstery as a template for the leather just like the video after buying 100 sq ft of medium brown semi aniline, bronze tacks, fiber batting, and 3 inch thick 50 ild blue foam. Possibly converting it into an office chair by removing the legs and fabricate a mounting bracket for tilt mechanism put it on the tilt mechanism. Maybe even add 2 tactile transducers for gaming, music, and movies one stitched to the backrest springs and the other stitched to the bottom cushion springs.
QUESTION !!!💯Can this diamond tufting be done in let's say a 60s or 70s chevy benchseat..or not because u need to pull the string and stable on wood and the benchseat doesnt have that..I did it on furniture w my grandpa as a kid he did upholstery..but now I'm older can this be done on car upholstery benchseat 60s style benchseat without being way too much of a hassle and over customizing thanks!!
It is not necessary to be stable on a wood piece. Some furniture sofas have this design on the backrest fastened with strings tied up in the back to the webbing straps. You could handle that way. To ease the process in cars it is advisable to sew 'half moon' lines of stitches on each one of the diamonds as I show in this video:ruclips.net/video/qb3OIsPGt_8/видео.html Same method used on Cadillacs: i1.wp.com/www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/IMG_3805.jpg This way could also work out for car seats:ruclips.net/video/p-Ea5UvXoOw/видео.html
A great video. How exactly do you calculate the size of the diamonds on the fabric from around 4:55? My diamond is about 25 cm long diagonal to 15 cm short diagonal
I would recommend the use of a thinner and pliable leather material 0.6, to 1 mm no more. If you feel this method is somehow difficult in next coming video I would show the easiest way to diamond tuft without any sewing.
Thanks for your videos. I'm from Russia. I want to start making furniture. Tell me, please, in your opinion, what to choose to begin with - a chair, sofa, sofa? To make less mistakes and sell faster? What material is better to use at the beginning?
Hello Aleksandr, Furniture is not my specialty, but I would give an opinion. Chairs and sofas at the same time, working with fabric material. Upholstery fabrics are much easier to handle.
Sería bueno revisar estos videos básicos anteriores que nos explican al respecto:ruclips.net/video/DdinwhU-UxQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/GUcut0US-MA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/qb3OIsPGt_8/видео.html ruclips.net/video/wWh08XCH9GQ/видео.html
Teacher, there is an error in the measurements. The geometric shape of the skin is supposed to be greater than the geometric shape of the sponge. But your measurements are on the contrary. Is there an explanation? Thank you.
Good question! What you said is true. I would have used that method if I would have used a thinner and softer leather material. Short diameter buttons are useful for this purpose. Can you plese tell us why did you've added 5 cm/4cm to diagonals? maybe because of the foam thickness (6.5cm)? it's a kind of relationship between foam thickness and diagonals?
Interesting question! Yes, there is a relatioship between 'diagonal allowances' and 'foam thickness'. The 'diagonal allowance' is taken considering the thickness of material (thick or thin vinyl/fabric/leather) and depthness of the holes in the foam. If the 'diagonals of rhombs' would measure the same, then both two allowances would be 4 cm...2 cm allowance to enter into the hole. In other words the 'rhombs would be squares in position of rhombs. Usually the 'rhombs/diamonds' have a 'short diagonal' and a 'long diagonal' . In this case the 'short diagonals' would have the 4 cm allowance...2 cm for each corner. The 'longer diagonal' should be shorter to get a 'snug diamond'. In this case I have shortened 5 mm each corner allowance. I would recommend to do personal tests on cheap material to find your own allowances according material thickness, foam density and thickness you are going to work with. Thanks for watching the video!
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I undestood how you've came up with the new diagonals after i'd watched the Part 1 of this beautiful tutorial. The best calculation is to measure how much is entering on diagonals when the foam is attached, right?
You are right! the best way is to do a test beforehand to verify if the diagonal while entering into the hole are well folded and attached. Above all, on thick materials like heavy leathers. Each material behaves different.

Hey what's the correct name for this fabric
It is upholstery zebu leather 1.2 mm thick. More information in the video description.

Hi Cechaflo.
I have a question. Why u dont just pull down the leather with the buttons?
Good question! What you said is true. I would have used that method if I would have used a thinner and softer leather material. Short diameter buttons are useful for this purpose. Bigger buttons when pulled and pressed down do not let properly line up the foldings. Because of, a thick leather I have used a method of old crafstmen.
