- A delicate - and improbable -- love story about three gentle and shy souls. Snehamoy, a school teacher in the beautiful Sunderbans, writes letters to Miyage, a sweet, shy Japanese girl in Yokohama. Over these letters, they fall in love and get married, despite having never met. Sandhya, a widow, takes refuge in Snehamoy’s home and is soon always by Snehamoy’s side, bringing a piquant twist to this home in the Sundarbans and the love between Snehamoy and Miyage. Will Sandhya find her solace with Snehamoy? Or will life finally unite Snehamoy and Miyage.

Wow! What a powerful ending! This movie was so pure and graceful. When Miyage arrived at the house in the white saree without borders, with her head shaved and a white bangle on each arm, I have to admit she had me raining tears. Also, you will notice in that scene that Sandhya switched back to wearing a white saree without borders as well. Just an incredible movie that was so harmonious & genuine. Well done to everyone connected to the film!

Every character in the movie has a kind heart. Loved the empathy of his aunt who raise his nephew as his own son and taking her goddaughter n son under her wings. The love relationship between him and miyagi is so pure. The Ending definitely made me teary 😭
This is an example to our generation where is sex or physical touch is very important to everyone . The movie teaches us how to love another person's soul not body . Though they were apart from each other but they were really together connected by heart . This is called connection ,devote towards their partner. Such a masterpiece ❤

Such an AMAZING and TOUCHING movie. I watched it not knowing what to expect, but I was NOT disappointed. It made me smile, and it made me CRY. I had not realized that Miyage had shaved her hair in a display of her love and devotion to Snehamoy as I mistakenly thought her lack of hair was an after effect of the chemotherapy. It has been more than three hours since I finished the movie, but even reading the comments below have brought back tears to my eyes. A movie I will NOT SOON FORGET!

As soon as I saw Miyage wearing a white saree and shaved head , I just started crying automatically, remembering how Snehamoy had said some widows shave their heads to show their devotion towards their husband..

meghna talukdar Well they don't actually shave head in old times.... They used to have boys cut and she used chemo therapy for cancer so she had to shave her head because you go bald when using chemo for cancer treatment

Just watched it tonight. Reminded me of the purity of love and simple people. I taught at a Japanese school and knew many Miyage girls. I was once in love at 19 to a Japanese boy. This feel forty years later brought me to that innocence.

I pause in between scenes. I am overwhelmed by the emotions that this movie is giving me. This is a masterpiece. Great story and cinematography. The actor was so perfect for the role. Everything in him exudes love and loyalty. Watching him just breaks my heart. The Japanese wife was the good wife. Love is love even in a distance.

Please just use extreme caution if you've only talked to the person online and never met. The minute she (and it might be a guy) starts asking for money, cut off contact. There are many who do this for a living. The pattern is they contact you, saying you are the one, they've never met anyone quite like you, and they have a trip out of town coming up.
They build up the connection, only to suddenly disappear for three days, completely ignoring your letters and phone calls. Then they just as suddenly resume contact, saying they are going on the trip they had told you about. Then they go on the (fake) trip, only to have some misfortune on the trip and are now without money. So they ask to borrow money from you and upon receipt of said money then they are gonnnnne.
Just please be careful - them recommending this movie might be part of trying to make you see them as innocent, loving, trustworthy.

I could not hold on and come to write something, I got goosebumps watching every seconds of the movie, every seconds of 1hr and 40 seconds were worthy. While I have lived the movie myself I felt the character Sneha(Rahul). Also Pureness and strength of their love. I must admit it is one of the best movies I ever watched.

same here! i was glued watching this & the interaction of both characters even though they had this long distance love affair & yet so loving with each other! this movie was well made aside from the beautiful story itself!

This came on my recommendation and I decided to watch it and I think that I did the right thing. This film made me see the innocence and pure love between people and that caring for others still exists.
