Watching this movie reminds me so much of my past with my violent husband. I was being treated so badly and I remained in silence for ten years Today I am so happy we are separated and I am free from abuse and torture. 🙏
Why is it that there are women who cannot fight for their right? Why do they accept the abuse their partners do to them? Why can't they fight back for themselves? I'm lucky this thing never happened to me because before I get married, I told him not to flick even a finger to me.
Feel sorry .
@@leonorteredeasis3192 It's much complicated. We are different; we have different backgrounds. We should avoid judgement and focus on supporting our sisters in difficult circumstances. Love!
@@ciceliapadre9957 I don't judge people. I'm just giving my views why others just accept and tolerate others to bully or beat them. As human being, we have the right to fight and speak for ourselves.
yes and what ever abuse from both sides some women have to be ready criminel mind enough to set up man on fire .premeditated without thinking of consequences ..as she just wanted to be a cared woman and that her beautiful face can buy life with another ..surely humiliated by husband but hopeless manipulation so she was so mad not to have beautiful life just as we all think we deserve ...but really who has it ? and who goes crazy to be able to kill for it instead...that woman is a winner LOLso she made justice for herself killing husband by FIRE and comes out Famous and FREE.just 3months after ...fff...LOLO@@ciceliapadre9957
This movie should be re-released on Netflix. Can't believe as an Indian I missed this. Superb performances by all the actors
I agree totally.... This is a quality story, one of the best Bollywood productions I have seen lately
Why do Indian movies almost always relates to London whenever the storyline has to do with something abroad?
@@ranidenkaa2656probably because england invaded india so they have ties to it i guess?
A lot of Indians came to UK in 60s and London has a huge Asian community and as it's our capital, more well known city compared to other UK cities
This is based on a true story.
Completely moved by it , specially the last bit where she says how mothers should bring up their sons so they learn to respect women, truly agree on it as an Asian mother.
Thats important. I am an Asian father to a mixed Indian child and I remind her all the time never to sell herself short. I also taught her how to teach rude boys a lesson.
I completetly agree with her. We as a women can stop violence against women by educating our children with respect towards them.
I have two boys now men. I strongly believe it's our responsibility to teach them from a very young age to respect their l loved one or anyone they have a relationship with and before violence physically or verbally it both! Walk away!
That's exactly what I did with my children, I said, if you are going to touch a woman it is because they are going to love her. @@grisellpena9716

What an AMAZING movie. I used a box of tissues. Both tears of sadness BUT joy for the happiest ending.
when i click to watch this movie, i wasn't expecting much of it but as i slowly getting comfortable watching the film then i realize how intense the story is all about...im pretty sure a lot of married ladies can relate to this story everyone deserve to be heard until justice is serve to those victims of abuse/torture by their spouses... great movie indeed.....❤❤❤❤❤
I’m shocked, I loved this movie. Who would have thought the most beautiful woman in the world could give an Academy Award performance.
You should see her in some Indian movies. Very talented actress and Indian dancer. Love her!
She’s not the most beautiful
Love her in mistress of spices...
@@boop79Essa é a sua opinião.
The other indian women were just as beautiful
In only meant to watch a bit of this movie, but I ended up watching the whole thing!! I really loved it. I loved the love and friendship the women had with each other in prison and how the woman who fought for her never gave up. That's what love is really all about. Great Acting by the way.
You are not alone, I did it too :)
Me too 🙋
Been there, I am now 77 and it is still in the back of my mind. Hard to get better. But I did, This movie is well worth the watch. For those who have been through it, This will help.
Being violent to one's partner is never to be overlooked. Mother's should help the society by raising more responsible sons. This is a great movie 🍿
FATHERS should also be responsible for their part in raising responsible and respectable sons by being good role models in their attitudes and actions toward women.
That's true.
You're actually right. I really feel for those that's going through what she went through it's just not fair 😥😥😭😭 I just feel for them. God help them to come out from it.
That goes without saying! Every woman grew up a girl and has experienced some form of sexual violence at the hand of men or boys. Of course they want their daughters to not experience the same and to change that culture of violence. That includes teaching their sons. But they are fighting a world wide society of male oppression of women and girls, it's almost an impossibility but women try with their own sons. None of my brothers took direction from my mother. They grew up wanting to dominate her and followed what their father did instead. To be a real man, just like their daddy.
It's hard to change that generational culture and we cannot blame women as if it's on them. It isn't.
Mathers certainly should but what about fathers? Isn't that their job to set an example to their sons how to treat women?
I think Indian culture is different to other cultures.
Never tolerate an abusive husband, verbal or physical.
NEVER tolerate an abusive wife, verbal, physical or adulterous!!
@@robertrocca6595 This needs to be said as it is equally true, but so seldom stated or supported.
@@robertrocca6595yes, but 99 percent of abusers are men due to physical strength, religion and culture that sees women as less than animals. Women abusers exist but not very common.
@@CleoParta1965 Bovver boys, boot boys, hooligans, bruisers. In today’s over-sensitive, feminine world, aggro is definitely not in fashion. Females equate ‘what is said’ with ‘what is done’ and this makes discussing violence from a masculine standpoint a perilous undertaking.
Of course, virtually all the “controversy” which exists in today’s media-dominated culture is manufactured, in order to raise the cost of questioning the party line.
During the whole of our evolutionary history, for at least a million years excepting the last few decades, a female who sufficiently angered a male could expect a physical response.
Back then, the man of the house held absolute authority, not just due to his physical strength but also because he was the breadwinner. Earning an income in those days required physical strength and practical ability, with which females are generally not well-endowed. Because of the male advantages of physical strength and aggression, the female has evolved a large set of procedures to compensate for her handicap.
Formerly the female was controlled, just as in nature, by implicit threat. In the vast majority of situations all that was required was threat. The usually rare occasions when physical violence was employed functioned to limit the excesses of her behaviour and validate the threat.
Both genders can be cruel.
I worked in prison with so many women who had been abused and just like Kieran they found more freedom in prison than they had when they were free.
So sad.
Infinitely sad.
Who *are* we as humans?
Safe havens behind bars. Ironic and sad.
So unfortunate
Heartbreaking that abused women have more freedom in a prison than they do at home because of the amount of abuse they get 😢
Very profound and thought provoking movie... Incredible acting by Aishwarya Rai...
Who is watching in 2024😊
This movie was so touching. Bring back so mcuh memories. I and my son was a victim of violent abuse some 40 plus years ago. I still have my order protection. Living with someone who abuses you diminishes your being as a human. I cried watching this movie. If you are being violated, do not be ashame or afraid, tell someone and get help. I was saved my God's grace.
Marriage is supposed to be happy and loving.not abusive.some men are so strange.if they don't love you then they should just leave they don't have to stay and mis treat you and your children
Problem is abuser does not want to leave.they are sadist by nature

Yes, great verdict... She wins, she gets insulted again, this time by a Court. How could a woman do this? She wasn't in her right mind.... What about self defense?
One of those times when scrolling and this showed up. Caught my attention because Aishwarya is the actress I adore when many yrs ago I watched my first Indian movie. This story has a powerful message and delivers such a strong awareness of those who have suffered @ the hands of domestic violence, her message @ the end for mothers to raise sons to respect women, and that love is not about abuse in silence are words to remember. Thankyou for sharing a film that needs to be on Netflix and a wider community of all cultures ❤🇦🇺🇳🇿

This is an excellent movie that educates both men and women on the act of domestic violence. This is a sad reality that needs to be addressed in order that families can be saved from lifelong trauma and crisis.
Good movie. Should be shown in schools and discussed freely. No one has the right to beat anyone or any animal
What a great performance by MS. Rai, I feel so bad for ladies who go through domestic violence/abuse. Some people are so sick and vicious. All the actors did acted well, thanks to producers for putting spot light on this matters.
I am so grateful to have scrolled upon movies and came across this one. Very good movie, with great actors and actresses. Harsh to see how some women are treated. The three women and the man never gave up. Her friends she met in prison lifted her spirits and to keep going
I hope her good friend Veronica “Ronnie” will have the same outcome and is with her daughter now.
Excellent film, thank goodness she got an appeal. Often violence in a home or marriage goes in-silence but it is important to remember that who is the victim is also a human being and deserves the utmost respect. God protect these people who are suffering to stand up free
Arguably one of the most beautiful and talented actors on the planet. She is great in most of her roles, I love Bride an Prejudice especially.
Those sorrowful eyes haunt me. Recently lost a younger brother who had those eyes, a 3 year battle with cancer, same eyes.
Apparently those green eyes are a legacy of Alexander the Great's campaigns in northern India.
Sorry for your loss. May your brother rest in peace.

As soon as he lifts his hand, you should get the heck out of there. There is no excuse for abuse. No amount of "sorrys" or "I was drunk" or "I didnt know why I did that" should be used to justify the disgusting behaviour.
Totally agreed
But not all women have the means to walk out.
Most abusers make sure that they have a hold on their victim or they isolate their victims first.
@@ranithevar5174 I see what you mean but in recent society, women need to start utilising the power of their voice. They should bring in their family. If the family is not supporting her, she should bring in the organisations or even media to expose such disgusting people. I understand it can be a matter of shame but that's what needs to be removed. It's men who do these things that should feel shame, not the woman ❤
@@judyannludchawefoyagao8278 agreed. They usually dont start off this way which is why a lot of women can get deceived. They start off all nice until one day they "accidently" hit you and then apologise which turns into a viscious cycle unfortunately :(
This Aishwayra Rai is one of the world's most beautiful women, in my opinion. I have only seen her in one other film. Something about spices and it was very good. Perhaps she chooses her roles very carefully but I would like to see her in more films. Very talented actress. I am glad to have found this film and that's it is based on actual events that brought necessary changes to such victims of domestic violence. 💙
Exactly, she chose film carefully
She's in dozens of films actually
I have two daughters, i worry about this, alot. I have seen women being abused when i was a child myself. Most of the time it goes unnoticed and people don't know what to actually do.
AISHWARYA WAS CAPTIVATING, INTIMATE AND REAL..EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS MOVIE!!!
Beautiful movie. The strength and determination of a women. No matter ethnic background. We all have it. Just have too love ourselves to find and demonstrate it.
Her acting is beyond
Excellent movie and outcome. Aishwarya Rai is incredibly beautiful and a wonderful actress. I will look for more of her films.
Great thanks to all women who fights for their fellow women no matter how the situation is, say no to women abuse and mothers let us teach our sons to love and respect their wives so that our grand children gets a better future i love it from Uganda 🇺🇬
Never forget who you are, you have only one life ,don't let any one to take a freedom from you.
So many women live through like her, but silently suffering due to societal stigma, for their kids, and family. More so, no support from anyone.
aishwarya rai and hagrid... the duo i never knew i needed
Mother in law is a liar: she covers up for her son.
I am so happy to see more and more movies where Indian women defend themselves from abuse family and husband. 👌👏👏👏♥️this movie excellent. And yesss mother's should teach them children's not just to respect woman's but to respect all human being like the way they will like to be respected. It would be fairer & far-reaching if those Indian women could achieve that in their own society & not just in foreign ones.
The ladies supporting eachother ❤....its the best things
What an AMAZING movie.❤❤❤
This is such a great movie. Thanks for uploading. Acting was superb.
One of the Best movies I have seen in a long time , but also very depressing . And still today ....how much has changed ? When I see these " important " meetings of men deciding political futures , I think : Where are the women ? You can't have an equal , just society if you exclude half of the world's population . I'm always reminded by a quote I read : As men it is not our responsibility to worry of what women do with their freedom but it is our responsibility that they get it !!!
Now they want to erase women, call us a birthing person and in the future replace with transgender.
Totally loved the movie, the story, the screen play, the unfolding of events and the ending,,, 10/10
I remember this case in law school. How could I forget it!
This movie gave me strength to get out of an abusive long relationship. After six years I am watching it again and realizing I made the right decision to Get the Hell out . I am Punjabi too , and my heart goes out to all Pakistani , Indian families where this happens due to culture
Good for you Naema!
I was touched by this act work. I absolutely liked the fact she reunited with her kids and set free
Its a horror when your husband abuses you who should actually be loving you but instead hates you and harms you and tortures you ....at some point you forget to be a normal person or live a normal life ....your self gets so hurt and beaten up that you forget how to talk normally with someone ...you are not free in body or mind ....you lose who you were ...you lose how you were.... ....when you are abused you cant think like others do ...but other people not able to understand this ....
This is true. So many women suffer, some get lucky to get divorced, but not all of them 🌹
This is a phenomenal movie!👍👍👍
On every level 🎯🎯🎯
Absolutely love the fabulous actors…… especially the Indian actors.🥰
The Brit humour & important message it addresses.
FABULOUS!
What a beautiful movie! This story would've made a precedent for other cases thereafter in the UK. Aishwarya is a beautiful woman, no one would've played Kiranjit's role better than her. She's so beautiful and talented
The movie mustn't reflect how uncertain the law was...when the judge first instructs the jury, he says it couldn't be self defense since there was a 2 hour gap. Considering there's no denying she did it, what was the judge sending the jury to deliberate about? ...
I'm not sure how being beautiful qualifies someone to be the best for a role. But it was well acted nonetheless. I just find it frustrating when you have to wait 5 minutes for someone to talk (yes, I know, this was probably as per the script...)
@@welllll...ok... ?? No patience? Waiting 5 minutes too long? Tough life you have.
@@tia904 when I'm watching a movie, yes. Even if some victims don't talk in real life -- or take ages to say something -- it's far too frustrating when one is watching a fictional story (albeit based on real situations). I find myself thinking of all the other things I could be doing.

Very powerful. How wonderful to be able to live in a democracy, even if such a system is not perfect. A must watch film for young people and adults.
what a great movie to stumble on. Its a tear jerker for sure but the final triumph and line is so eloquent. Do not stay in an abusive relationship or tolerate any kind of abuse - even narcissistic and mental or emotional - one for us all to learn - we as women must teach our sons brothers and friends to revere women not put the down in any way, honour them and you will see the rewards. Women are Goddesses!

Wow! She is such a beautiful woman.
Saw this movie years ago and every time I watch it makes me emotional.
This was truly a very touching story.
I shed tears at some point but am glad at the way it ended.
Very sad for a woman to be so desperate that she will do such a thing. She could not just run away with her children. She had nobody to protect her. I was not aware that she had no value as a woman at all. So sad. But she knew how to make the liquid she threw on her husband. How did she know that?
There is something wrong with a society that has no protection for women.
Awesome movie!

Its kinda sad that this video has around 4 scenes or times where it has been replayed the most
And the dissapointing thing about it is that all scenes are those in which he abuses her
I dont understand why people enjoy watching others being mistreated or in pain 😢
I know right, I've seen it happen in other videos too. When abuse scenes show up, I skip it because it can't watch it but its so sickening when I see other people enjoying it. At least the most replayed section exposes some things like this.
Maybe dont look at those things. You're only dwelling on it in this way. Just keep yourself clean and dwell on those things you could change if you keep your mental health in check. Pray its delt with by God and do your best bringing peace in this dark place we live. GOD Bless, hang in there.
How do you know which parts had been replayed? I was not aware of this feature.
@@marlengood1972 do you know how to go back and forth in the video

I am an American woman and I say that unfortunately sometimes however Aishwarya Rai, has been a favorite of mine since the 90s. The women are beautiful. And it just overwhelms me again in every society how women are second class citizens and men know that we’re not. That’s why they try to a process I mean seriously we have the babies that couldn’t happen without us manifesting positive. Stay strong and thank you for bringing this movie to light. I agree that this should be shown again and be available out there. We have to continuously educate and bring the awareness to real life.
Un très très beau film ! 🌟🌟🌟
In life, we must make decisions at the right time, but not always happen. Sometimes, the people who judge are not interested in the reason; they want someone to go to jail, no matter who is guilty or not! Someone must pay! This is the big fail. The lower is not doing his job well all the time! The money always speaks, not the real reason! You have money; you win; if you don't have it, the low is not interested in defending you!
Love how aishu always choose movies like this.. respect to her
I love that "so you killed him..good".. Am I a bad person? 😊
No😂
Beautiful movie...sister, friends bond...
Marriage is not essential...its more of a society pressure
It always makes me insanely upset when I hear these domestic violence abusers say, “I love you so much, I am so sorry,” after each violence towards their victim spouse or significant other. If I allow myself to “wallow” in my emotions, I might say terrible things towards these abusers! Instead, I have to really stop and take deep breaths and pray hard to calm myself down into sanity. I know, it is easier said than done, but I pray that all abused spouses or partners get the chance to part from their abusers without harm. God bless you all🙏🙏🙏
She is so so so beautiful yarrrrr
Was a really moving movie. Had some heartaches when she was abused, disgust for those who lied, hope that she would get a retrial and tears of relief that at the end, she was "heard" of the hard 10 years of enduring pain though beating, labour, respect for culture and also rape.
Well worth the watch and may God bless and help all women who are abused in any way around the world.
I FEEL SO BAD FOR HER.
AS A VICTIM OF ALL THE ABUSE THERE IS, YOU NEVER GET IT ALL OUT OF YOUR HEAD.
