I hate that the movies made Peeta look so weak and helpless. He is by far one of the smartest people in the series. He is constantly protecting Katniss. We all know that Katniss wouldn't have survived this long without him because she is so oblivious to everything
Kennedy J That was a big reason she wanted HIM to lead too. He was the idea person and the one observing and making smart social moves. I tried to ignore in the movies that they just had him along for the ride.

@@micahwilliams1332 Peeta is lowkey underrated. Although in the movie they only show Peeta's smart social moves a selective amount of times. Once when he publicly claimed to the world he was in love with her(although technically not entirely false). 2nd when he claimed she was pregnant to stop the Hunger Games. They subliminally allude to his smartness when he leads the group away from Katniss and tells her to run. And when he volunteers for Haymitch. He knows that the only way Katniss can survive is if Haymitch is giving her sponsors and working from the sideline. They literally only show his strength like twice. When he throws a big metal ball thing and when he kills a GROWN man with his bare hands UNDERWATER without drowning.

@@micahwilliams1332 Yeah he's kind of just pushed to the sidelines and comes back at the very end. But even when he's tortured by the Capitol he still warns them about the attack. Like how can people not like Peeta? Edit: In the very last battle in the first movie Cato could have honestly killed both Katniss and Peeta had Peeta not drawn that X on his hand for her to shoot. (Just Peeta being smart again)

what really made me sad in the movie was when Foxface (the red who knew all the plants) was laying on the ground dead with the berries, because she would've known they were poisonous so it just pointed to the idea that she commited suicide
If it helps, Foxface didn't know her plants. The movie got her scene right. Peeta picked the berries, not knowing they were poisonous. Foxface assumed they were good too eat because Peeta was gonna eat them. So it wasn't suicide, just ignorance.
There's lots of engineered animals and plants in the arena, those poison berries could be one of those
stahp pls katniss revealed in the book that in the woods her father told her about nightlock (the berries) that’s how she knew they weren’t safe
Bewildered Z Apple they were saying that her ignorance in stealing from Peeta is what happens in the books. That training scene in the movie was just foreshadowing for how she would die.
foxface was surviving by pillaging what the careers hoarded. once katniss blew up their stash, she probably started to starve because there was nothing left to steal. when she died, she was following katniss and peeta, knowing that katniss could hunt, probably planning to steal some of their studd. so when she saw the berries peeta picked, not knowing they were toxic, she was probably so hungry and starving that she didn't notice that they were poisonous, ate them and died.

And like, it wasn't just any pin. It was a family heirloom. Madge's aunt had been a tribute from 12 along with Haymitch - but she died and left the pin. That's why Madge gives it to Katniss.

Man every time when District 11 riots after Rue's death/Katniss's funeral for her, I bawl like a baby. I don't know why it only happens during the riots. Anyway I've been team Peeniss since day 1, Gale is boring and only has any like good characterization in Catching Fire

In the books they're designed to look like the dead tributes with their hair colour and their eyes and their numbers on their collars. It has an intense psychological effect of Katniss, especially when she sees the one that's supposed to look like Rue. They've humanoid characteristics as well, like at one point the 'Glimmer' wolf stands up on their back legs and beckons to the others with a paw like a human would and it fucked up twelve y/old me sm

Imo, I'm not a big fan of their love team, but it would've shown his devotion if he voluntered because that'd be like, "I'd rather die proctecting her in the arena than watch her suffer alone." I understand that he doesn't want to be in the same Arena as her because only one tribute would be the victor, but it had been so long since District 12 had a winner. With his upbringing and skills, does he think he could win against the other tributes? I know Katniss did, but that was because she was resourceful, albeit ignorant a tad. He could've showed how much he loved her by joining the games with her. They both hate the games so much, but Katniss went in there for her sister. Can't he go in there for her and just plan to work together? One was literally the only person that wasn't their family that the other trusted in their district. I know that Katniss was kind of understanding of Gale's view since he was the only person that could provide for his family, but Katniss was the only sanctuary her sister had. At this point, I realise I'm ranting and I don't want to anymore so I'll end it at that.

Honestly, I watched the last half of The Hunger Games when I was about 10 and it traumatised me for ages. The idea that not only did so many people die in the movie, but that it had happened so many times before just affected me so much, that I couldn't watch the rest of the movies.
