When the women are crying with the main character, they sound like when you squeeze a bunch of those fake chickens and they all scream at the same time
It’s a good portrayal of what happens in cults in which the members provide an overwhelming amount of comfort and support when someone is in pain to make them feel like they belong

Fr that scene really disgusted me. Probably because the film had been kind of chill on the gory side of it and then that woman’s face just like flew off
The fact trin said “we can’t always get what we want” and didn’t follow it up with a glee style “but if you try sometimes you’ll find you get what you need” is my new villain origin story
The man who played as Christian said that he had to abstain from drinking and read a lot of books to help keep his head as level as he could keep it while filming
The fact that Trin says the main character has a beautiful nose is actually hysterical because the main character is played by the same person who plays Amy in little women and like one of Amy’s character traits is complaining about her nose
@fireboss. z its fucking revolting imo. like the actual deaths didnt bother as much, but the psychological manipulation that happened within the movie that goes unrecognized made my blood boil and triggered me so much. thank fucking god regular horror movies just stick with murder bc that is far more palatable than what happened in midsommar
I literally never get scared of any movie, but this one fucked with my head so hard I had a shocked face for the majority of the movie and couldn't move
I understand mania can make people who battle bipolar do horrific things but i hate that her sister had bipolar and her only character trait was bi-polar because all that does is further de-humanize the illness and perpetuate negative connotations and stigmas that already make it so hard for those with bi-polar to feel safe, seen and normal
It must have been so traumatic for Dani to see tons of people die after her family’s death cause she was still in grief, she must’ve thought it would be a relaxing trip that would help her maybe forget about it a bit but NAH!
As a Swede i totally forgot when they spoke Swedish that she doesn’t understand the language so I was like ”Why isn’t she reacting to what that Woman just Said???”
I mean it was probably a very interesting acting lesson because they would have had to tap into something real to get it to be like that otherwise it would have been ridiculous. So it was at least helpful and interesting 😂
@@allywong9675 It's a bit blurry and the two often are very close together and many movies are kinda both, though often one more than the other. If you ask me, the main goal of horror is to interact with the audience through the emotion of fear - if you are scared, unsettled, disturbed or disgusted, there are likely at least some horror elements in there. Thrillers on the other hand work with suspense and keep you on the edge of your seat as to what happens next. In short, in thrillers you want to know what comes next, in horror movies you dread what comes next. But like I said, it's hard to make a clear cut distinction between the two and I wouldn't see my comment as the only interpretation.
Midsommar was such a slow burn. Every moment was so subtle and gentle that you can’t look away. It built so much tension it made me SO anxious. The setting being so light and sunny was so trippy to me and made everything more uncomfortable. Ugh the juxtaposition. This movie is a masterpiece and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for a while after but I wouldn’t watch it again
This thing traumatised me. I couldn’t physically make myself look away. My sister eventually put her hands over my eyes at the sex ritual because she and her boyfriend snuck me in (I’m a year or two below the age you can legally see a rated r film). I now have the images of the old people getting bashed over the head and a bunch of naked people standing in a circle while the two fucked in the middle.
I was really looking forward to seeing this one, but honestly I think that meeting this lovely young lady under this circumstance has gotta be even better than watching it firsthand. She is fracking hilarious. And I can see the values at play, this is indeed a special work.
I kind of laugh when people are like "yeah the cult did awful things but theyre so kind to Dani, she basically has a new family" because it's clear they have zero experience or any idea in general how a cult works.
@@FireNooodles if you think being happy for her is your salutation than u DEF need help. Dani’s gonna die anyway cause in their cult they kill the may queens?? it was literally shown in the tapestry?
everyone commenting on what she missed in this aggressive tone like she’s obligated to notice every single clue and technique upon her first viewing. can ye just look at what we’re doing to the poor girl in terms of scrutiny. she’s a beautiful, charismatic girl and i subscribed solely for her reactions to what she’s watching, not for what she is actually watching. if you want to watch the movie, stop being cheap and rent it or something but leave her alone. you’re ruining it for the people who just want to watch her be herself.
I adore this film and all its imagery but I also love Trin so I agree with you completely! Her reactions are hilarious and I think she was so brave to tough this out for us :)
I've seen this movie 3 times and I love every single scene because it's so different and unique, but when I watch commentary videos, I never expect to watch the whole film, there's copyright issues and I can just go watch the whole film again on my own with another person's point of view in mind. I love Trin even though I just subscribed two days ago after watching her with Pretty Much It, but she is hilarious and relatable and those people who say otherwise can just leave, literally exit out of the video if you don't like it, it's easier to do than having to type up a whole hate comment...lol
Wish you didn't feel the need to apologize/explain yourself so much. You should be able to makr these videos without fear of the internet attacking you. You've earned your following and it's a joy to watch your videos. Keep being amazing, girl!
Nothing is scarier than look at a "normalcy" and knowing somethin' is very very wrong. That's why bright color pallette things in horror movies freak me out. Granted I haven't seen many horror movies but it still unsettles me.
i kinda like that... it just adds to the creep factor. looking at a bright and cheerful place and just knowing that something is tilted, just slightly off and then the mask falls off and hell is unleased? that is is satisfying
I like how you mentioned that the movie is light, yet somehow it's scarier that way. I think it has to do with the fact that since we associate the dark with spooks we tend to feel better/safe when it's light again. However when everything scary happens in broad daylight we don't have that mental safety net. Bad things can still happen when it's light out and you're in a field of flowers. There is no where you can go that will make you feel safe. Anyway, that's my hot take as to why Midsommar is so scary :D
And, during the dancing scene, what’s so strange is that I believe they all wanted Dani to win so she would feel this sense of pride and power which would lead to her believing she is more important. It would causes Dani than to subconsciously make the decision to go full in but it technically wasn’t really her. Basically they had put the idea in her head so she would think it was all her choice to stay and be a part of this fully. It’s a masterpiece and a disgusting movie in and of itself
I love this movie and that there is so much discussion about it. Also, I love it that ALL the characters are morally ambiguous. Hårgas are a cult and and they wanted Dani to be May Queen. They manipulated the events so that they could advance Christian and Dani to break up. This is what cults do in real life - destroy old relationships in order to get people in. This was made possible, because they are BOTH confused, both having their issues and lack of direction. But I'm amazed that people consider Dani innocent...hello, she took part in choosing a human sacrifice, when the morally / ethically choice would to refuse?? It's a horror movie but people are pretty messed up if they don't see that... I don't think what Christian does can be called "gaslighting" - but he's still being quite spineless and manipulative, but more out of instinct rather than any plan. Video about Gaslighting and Midsommar: ruclips.net/video/82_cZO-XvuU/видео.html Who is acting out of a plan, are the Hårgas. They want to break-up Dani and Christian. They create the environment where he feels like an outsider, and she feels like she belongs there. This is a point I haven't seen been mentioned often: when they make Dani choose the final sacrifice- in what condition is Christian? Unable to SAY ANYTHING. Dani is angry at him, justifiably, but at a man who the Hårgas have made paralyzed and unable to speak. And they want Dani to be freshly heartbroken, so he would pick Christian- because doing so, she is made accomplice to the killing. That's her TRUE FINAL RITE into the Hårgas. Not the fabricated theatre of May Queen crowning, but making her take active part in choosing sacrifices. In that moment, she's liberated, but also insane. Is Christian a shitty boyfriend? Yes. Should they break-up? Yes. Should Dani choose a sacrifice? No. She should have either picked the Hårga man or flat-out refuse to choose ANYONE as a sacrifice. People idolising Dani somehow seem to overlook this lol. "You go girl, be held and find a new home, take part in human sacrifices!" Is a new side shown out of Dani in the end? Yes, but it's partly because she's gone insane. The original script literally describes the smile as insane, as liberation that the insane only can feel. She has lost everything and she's made to choose a sacrifice- a sacrifice that she's also being manipulated into. And she is now in the control of the Hårgas after that. She's taken part into their murders. The suit made out of flowers is a perfect metaphor: they shower her with love, but wanting to imprison her. She's so overwhelmed with the flowers it's hard for her to move. They welcome her "home", because as the only blond female of the group, she's the perfect baby making machine for their blood lines. A pregnant woman has more trouble to escape as well. And this is why I love this movie even more than Hereditary: it's even more psychological, doesn't require supernatural aspects- and it's core strength is at what is IMPLIED even more than what is actually shown. That is powerful. NEITHER Dani or Christian are innocent. Neither are they guilty. They are lost, confused pawns and neither find any true liberation in the end. One loses his life, one loses their soul, sanity and individuality. There's a chance she will adjust but that is left open. I think it's a perfect ending to a horror movie. The character that has lost the most, has also become part of something truly sinister.
@@SoWhosGae it's all supposed to be symbolic lol. just a visual representation of what it's like to endure heartache. so basically nothing is and none of them are real, they all symbolise something that goes thru our mind when we are in pain. like.... this movie isn't saying drugging and killing someone is worse than cheating lol.

Hey Trin! From an old film theory student, just to let you know it's completely okay to like those camera shots. The only time it's okay to criticise someone for their preferences is if they're a student and can't express why they like or dislike something, because then they're missing the academic side of the degree. So don't let anyone make you feel shit about what you like seeing in films.

Whenever I suggest this movie, I ALWAYS tell the person that it's incredibly important to be in a good head space. I love movies like this (Hereditary and The Witch as well) because you need to pay attention and put the pieces together as you watch, and the endings are always incredible in one way or another. Honestly this is one of my absolute favorite horror movies, even though it took me a full week to recover after seeing it the first time.
I love Hereditary, The Witch, and Midsommar as well! What you described is such an accurate description of why I like them. Do you happen to have any recommendations for other movies in that vein?
I agree that you need to be in a good head space, I wasn't when I first watched it and even though I was paying attention it ruined me and I had to take a couple breaks and watch it in stages.
the scene where she’s mourning after seeing her boyfriend having ya know, i thought it was beautiful in a sense that they’re not letting her mourn alone “if you’re suffering we’re suffering too and we’re here for you” shown in a dramatic way but still
Yeah also sure they’re “mourning” with her but they’re also literally the ones that cause her that pain by drugging her bf beyond any hope of actual consent and litteraly forcing him to empregnate the cult girl
Gave me absolute goosebumps. The contrast to her surroundings reacting to her grief in the beginning, and the actual validation of her feelings she experiences with her “sisters” is stunning. S t u n n i n g
seriously she was saying some really insightful things that i didn’t even notice when i saw the movie she’s genuinely so smart i think elle is a good comparison of her
It got me so mad when Florence Pugh won no Oscars even though she had this astounding performance and was also in little women. This movie should have been nominated
Butt Hz A: Toni Colette is a great Oscar but wasn’t even nominated for a movie (a movie she was in was nominated in one category but not her) this year so it doesn’t really matter, Florence was (only for little women sadly) B: If you mean for hereditary I agree, that was award winning but I’m not comparing her to another actress. C: she would technically be nominated for “best actress” not “best actor”
So true! Florence deserved two nominations. One for best supporting actress (like she got) and another one for best leading actress. It would be amazing if the two black widows were nominated for the same categories. Btw i was so angry when Laura won. I mean 2019 was Florence's year and Laura didn't do nothing special in Marriage Story. I said what i said.
Diasmc Coelho Adam driver and Scarlett Johansson really did amazing jobs for that movie, but I didn’t think Laura dern did a Oscar worthy job. Should’ve gone to Florence.
This movie is so fascinating because it basically brainwashes you by using methods that actual cults use. It’s disturbing yes but fascinating nonetheless. I actually smiled with her at the end which is like so fucked up!
Omg yes. I had an existential crisis because I felt good after watching this film and I was like... that probably wasn't supposed to happen 😂 I think it's possibly because I have PTSD. That or I'm VERY susceptible to cult tactics
i'm very skeptical of anyone that's overly nice like that, especially that massive group of people i'd feel like i'd get hate crimed (which is actually a part of it), so i never really got brainwashed. but the amount of people including professionals saying that that was a good ending was genuinely astounding to me.
horror movies almost never get nominations, fun fact, in all 92 years there’s only ever been 2 horror movies nominated! the silence of the lambs and get out. it sucks bc hereditary and this definitely deserved and so many other but yeah. horror isn’t really for the GP most of the time so i guess that’s why
Angel they totally should! i hope sometime in the near future they will but a lot of the judges are older and a majority of older people are against horror movies bc they “promote” violence and that kinda stuff. horror has helped me in my life in too many ways to count so it’s sad seeing some of my favorite movies get no recognition because they’re branded as scary
The Exorcist actually was nominated for Best Picture, and won for Adapted Screenplay and Sound Editing. But yeah it’s a big exception and the Academy ignores horror 99% of the time
Its so true!! for some reason, they have it out for horror. I am a huge horror fan and its sad to see that when a good horror movie comes out they really don't want to give an award for horror, so this just call it a thriller instead because god forbid a horror movie won.
Then you realize that early Christians practiced in catacombs before they got 'mainstream'. Or that in every major catholic church technically has human bones of past saints. Nothing is safe! I'm terrified of ritualistic practices, period. I fully admit to being a very unnerved coward. No thank you.👏👏
my favorite part of the film was that whenever they wore flowers, the flowers pulse because of the drugs their on. its literally in every scene that they wore flowers. i could go into so much detail about this movie because its so interesting.
wait i couldnt see them pulse am i blind super edit: ok so when dani is wearing the queen flower crown thing i can see some of the flowers pulse, but do everyone else's flower crowns pulsate?
All the eyes change sizes too! And the background waves around depending on who's perspective we're seeing, its subtle so its hard to see unless you're paying attention but its so good

Trin Lovell it does seem like it Should be considering everything else in the movie. a lot of people said that part always feels like it doesn’t fit completely in the movie but I think it was just so Dani wouldn’t have a family so she would be more vulnerable to the cult 🤷🏼♀️

I've seen alot of stuff like this through my research but I was jumping in my seat from sheer discomfort
I honestly don’t think it was her, I think it was Pelle (idk if it’s spelled right) who killed them bc when they arrived at the Hårga they only hugged her, and another thing that made me skeptical was that beside her dead mother’s bed there was a flower crown on the girl’s picture. I personally think it was all planed out by Pelle. It’s almost obvious bc of the way he talked to her like it was bound to happen
Rodrigo Hernán Miño I kinda disagree with that, I think bringing his friends to Midsommar was his plan. Especially her for some reason. I feel like it was a subtle manipulation by him knowing that Dani’s bf wouldn’t let her be alone. Think like this, remember when Dani went to her bf’s and his friends place, and she talked with Pelle on the couch? His face expression was way off when he mentioned her dead family. When they arrived to Midsommar they said “welcome” to everyone but to Dani they said “welcome home”. I might sound way off but that’s just my theory hehe and there’s symbolism everywhere

This movie filled me with so much dread the entire time. The contrasting dark feeling but light color scheme of the film made me so on edge and the trip scene was too real, just one bad thought and BOOM, you're spiraling into paranoia and fear. When they said "They respect the incest taboo", it means that they respect those who choose not to partake in incest, it isn't forced. (still really gross if you ask me)
Yeah, I was like "well, I'm glad I kind of watched it but had it censored and didn't get the full WTF impact from watching it from the beginning." But then again, I wish I hadn't. Bad idea.
2 things. 1, the end where he feels pain despite the “medicine” shows the people that volunteered that the cult lied all along, showing to their own that everything they believed was fake and they were dying for nothing. 2, when she’s wearing the massive may queen gown my ass could not stop thinking CAN YOU IMAGINE THE SPIDERS HIDING IN THAT SHIT????

The scene where they’re all screaming together is actually quite psychologically powerful. They are all grieving together sharing their pain. This movie explores invasive thoughts in out deepest psyche. Quite powerful... Being left alone... having no family.. being dealt with grief alone....
I find it to be actually disturbing because you can see how the women around her were just mimicking her and slowly indoctrinating her into the cult. This fantasy of sunlight, flowers and dances are just a trick.
@@DrGregoryHouseIT nah. it's not pretending. as shown in the ättestupa scene, the members of the cult all feel each others' pain and strong emotions. dani was told all this time to stop being sad, to repress the feelings and stop being dramatic. the girls however don't tell her to stop, they cry with her and share the pain, which is incredible to dani as nobody has symphatised with her before that. they are in a way welcoming dani into the cult by showing her that they feel what she feels.
It’s foreshadowing toward mark’s death, now that I’ve seen the ending and notice it. That’s why marks corpse is stuffed with hay and is just skin and he is wearing a hat that resembles a fool.
Listen: I watched this movie during a work retreat in Sweden!!! they took us to this rural area called bommersvik with cottages and in a forest with a lake the same aesthetics of the movie! @@floraposteschild4184 I've always been kinda confused about that because they say that the burning ritual is performed every 90 years but there's pictures of recent may queens in the sleeping building. So is there a new may queen every year but a burning ritual every 90?
@@caitlyn1669 That's the way other cultures do it, or they used to. Minus the burning every 90 years part. Humans are expensive, so unless you're like the Aztecs and at war all the time, you sacrifice a goat or a sheaf of wheat or something. If it's only every 90 years...well, you'd think people would lose interest. But maybe this culture (if it isn't Dani's 'shroom dream, which I think is most likely) has other reasons for burning people. For example, heretics. I don't think Pelle is supposed to be lying.

@unlabeled Sorry to ask but what's the difference between horror and thriller?
@@allywong9675
I think horror is usually scarier and more gorey than thriller,I think thriller has more of a mystery aspect to it?

It’s a masterpiece and a disgusting movie in and of itself

more disgusting than the murder, ritualistic suicide, drugging and torture? Riiiiiiiight.
Video about Gaslighting and Midsommar:
ruclips.net/video/82_cZO-XvuU/видео.html
Who is acting out of a plan, are the Hårgas.
"You go girl, be held and find a new home, take part in human sacrifices!"
Is a new side shown out of Dani in the end?
The character that has lost the most, has also become part of something truly sinister.
hibakusha0 I agree with everythinf you said
@@SoWhosGae it's all supposed to be symbolic lol. just a visual representation of what it's like to endure heartache. so basically nothing is and none of them are real, they all symbolise something that goes thru our mind when we are in pain. like.... this movie isn't saying drugging and killing someone is worse than cheating lol.

The only time it's okay to criticise someone for their preferences is if they're a student and can't express why they like or dislike something, because then they're missing the academic side of the degree. So don't let anyone make you feel shit about what you like seeing in films.

The Exorcist actually was nominated for Best Picture, and won for Adapted Screenplay and Sound Editing. But yeah it’s a big exception and the Academy ignores horror 99% of the time

I think you should watch "Us" since it's actually fun and interesting, a fantastic follow-up to "Get Out." Plus if you think "Midsommar" was snubbed (I agree- Production Design alone was amazing), just watch Lupita Nyong'o in "Us." That's a Best Actress snub that will be felt forever.
YES! Us is more like creepy suspense in that sense of reminding you of things you're scared of when you're a kid and that feel uncanny when you're grown up. And Lupita is always amazing
Jonathan Wright there was a group of guys next to my aunt, grandma and with me being the closest to them... every 5 mins you hear a different guy whispering “what the f***” or different variations of it😂 and i started joining it... Grandma loved the movie tho😂😂😂
My friend and I research the occult which is why we went to see this movie. To see how much of it was real. All of it was real rituals, and the runes are real and the meanings and such. The movie was definitely a dive into the occult. It was actually interesting how many people next to me didnt really react to alot of the movie..... I've seen alot of stuff like this through my research but I was jumping in my seat from sheer discomfort
Yeah, but "US" is just a stupid movie.
us is an amazing movie and if any of you guys watch filn theory... wow the theory about it being about the American dream is amazing too
the girl's sister committed suicide and killed her parents alongside herself. that was disturbing and selfish and upsetting as eff.
When I first saw it it threw me so off cause I thought it was gonna be connected to the cult but then it ended up being so unrelated
Tamara Pecipajkovski nah. It was all random. Pelle planned nothing... he didn’t even know her, and she was not part of the trip to begin with.
@@visualsbyTP he didn't know her nor her sister. Also her sister's suicide was weirdly specific and it took a lot o screentime for something that really meant nothing
Is no one gonna y’all about how amazing her fashion sense is. That hair accessory is so cute with those earrings I love it I love it I LOVE IT
Thank you, I was thinking this the whole video lol
I thought for a cool ass minute you were talking about the people in the ceremony lmaooo
@@karma.chameleon yeah i saw "hair accessory" and thought oh, that flower crown? sksksk
ngl i like her may queen outfit and crown a lot. would like it without the clut stuff
I’m platonically in love with her vibe in general
oof honestly the ceremonial garb is really gorgeous. If I didn’t know ahead of time that it was a horror movie, I’d probably want to be a part of the ceremony 💀
i wished i knew about *that* scene before i decided to watch the movie with my family
Same oh my god, I saw it in theaters with my whole family and died on the inside
Which THAT scene? Pretty much every scene could be described as THAT scene.
@@y2k1noel the long ass sex scene
It was both awkward and funny asf.
I watched it with my mom and we were just laughing.
Interesting that Dani wins May Queen by being the last woman standing, and she’s also the last one left standing in the movie as well.
i've been terrified to watch this movie by my self, so i'm going to *sorta* watch it here
hahaha same im honestly so glad she blurred most of it out. my eyes cant take that
It’s not scary but it is very disturbing.
I get scared pretty easily but I found this to be much more tame then Hereditary which was directed by the same guy . It's on Amazon prime for free
Honestly same, I'm a scaredy cat and unless I know the whole plot and can't be jump scared I won't watch a horror/suspense movie, and this one, like, NO ONE WOULD DESCRIBE IT TO ME
I don’t think I would be allowed to watch it so...
The scenes where they all wail together reminds me of that one vine where this person pushes down on a lot of rubber chickens and they all wail and its hilarious to me
That's the scariest part of the movie. Scary as in so obnoxious I want to stay away from this movie
This made me laugh harder than it should have probably:P
I get you there, but I honestly found those scenes to be EXTREMELY uncomfortable and unsettling. Like, the idea of other people thinking they can feel my pain makes me so angry and seeing that whole group do that to her...ugh. So stressful.
This is more of a horror as in horrifying events happen then a scary one
milie jones yeah, even Ari Aster (the director) said it was like a breakup movie with horror elements rather than a scary movie.
Is not really scary movie imo
Cause theres like no monsters
@@taetm8868 just cause a movie doesn't have monsters doesn't mean it can't be scary

This movie filled me with so much dread the entire time. The contrasting dark feeling but light color scheme of the film made me so on edge and the trip scene was too real, just one bad thought and BOOM, you're spiraling into paranoia and fear. The music playing throughout it was still stuck in my head days later. Scariest movie I've ever seen too girl. I had nightmares lmao.
I felt so bad when you said you felt so stressed and you wanted to cry :( please don't feel pressured to continue a movie just for the reaction if you don't feel good ! take care

I just googled the cliff scene and I am so glad you blurred it and your right some things can’t be unseen
Honestly, Glenn’s death scene from The Walking Dead seemed like cuddling a cute kitten in comparison to the cliff scene from Midsommar.
When they said "They respect the incest taboo", it means that they respect those who choose not to partake in incest, it isn't forced. (still really gross if you ask me)
The fact that she had to re-watch it to edit....she's a real one.
She is a keeper!
how did u make a glee reference while watching midsommar omg that’s talent honestly
Tbh the moment she started singing raise your glass, i thought of when blaine sang it😂
This movie is probably one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen.
Thank you for confirming for me that I will never EVER watch this movie. This is just too much for me
Yeah, I was like "well, I'm glad I kind of watched it but had it censored and didn't get the full WTF impact from watching it from the beginning." But then again, I wish I hadn't. Bad idea.
I watched this movie because I wanted to watch this video without getting spoiled and hod do I regret that decision
Sophi e lol i watched this for the same reason. I think it was very disturbing but not so scary.
All ari aster movies are a WTF
I regret clicking on the video but at the same time I need to finish it because I will be wondering what happened. 😫😫
I know!! Can you imagine all of the bugs??
do you think that's what the old man was thinking too? when he jumped and didn't die instantly, he felt pain.
chatchi also pain in hell
13:18 ættestup is an old viking tradition. basically the old people who werent in shape to work anymore jumped off a cliff to their deaths. they were told that they would go to heaven if they did it, while in reality it was to not waste any more recources on them. so as a scandinavian, once i heard him say ættestup i pretty much knew what was gonna happen :((

the sacrifices only happen every 90 years or so, so it cant be
@@krossbow_ 72*
@@eliaarjona5796 72 is when they jump off the cliff but they only have the festival every 90 years. I have to admit to being confused with how some of the events in the film happen so frequently if it's only every 90 years but...yeah.
xoxH3L3Nxox Then why is it he says to Dani when looking at the pictures, “This is last year’s May Queen”?
Oscar Arcos they probably have a festival every year, but the sacrifices are only every 90yrs.
The scene where they’re all screaming together is actually quite psychologically powerful. They are all grieving together sharing their pain. This movie explores invasive thoughts in out deepest psyche. Quite powerful... Being left alone... having no family.. being dealt with grief alone....
PillowPrincess to me i wouldve told them to shut the hell up cuz its creepy as hell
I find it to be actually disturbing because you can see how the women around her were just mimicking her and slowly indoctrinating her into the cult. This fantasy of sunlight, flowers and dances are just a trick.
its not powerful at all it’s just straight up freaking creepy 😭😭😭
It's lovebombing. It's disturbing and creepy. They are just pretending.
Can we talk about how he said it was precious that the kids are playing skin the fool 🤔 like wtf is precious about a game called skin the fool 😩
It’s foreshadowing toward mark’s death, now that I’ve seen the ending and notice it. That’s why marks corpse is stuffed with hay and is just skin and he is wearing a hat that resembles a fool.

So I've never seen this movie...but when he says "my parents burned up in a fire" was he talking about the same thing that happened at the end? 'Cause if so, what foreshadowing.
Yes
Well, his parents would not have died 90 years ago. But maybe they have other ceremonies....
But maybe this culture (if it isn't Dani's 'shroom dream, which I think is most likely)
has other reasons for burning people. For example, heretics. I don't think Pelle is supposed to be lying.
