- Trout fishing tips on spinning, and some great fishing action, this video has it all.
Spinning is one of the most tried and proven techniques for catching trout.
Trout fishing with spinners is a real favourite for many anglers, and can be one of the easiest ways to catch trout.
In this video I catch both brown trout and rainbow trout in a wide open river with a Super Vibrax bladed spinner while delivering a heap of trout fishing tips to help you catch more trout next time you go fishing.
Some lovely fish and some great tips Robbie! Here's my top tip - Turn your sofa into a sofa bed by simply forgetting your wife's birthday ....
Hahahaha thanks mate. That's funny. 😂😂👍
Great water and tips mate! Loved the walking upstream tip.
Next time I am in a tackle shop I am going to confuse them by asking for a supervibrax in no.1 colour thanks... 😂🤣
Hahahaha slip of the tongue there. LOL I'm hoping nobody notices but so far 2 people have commented and the video isn't even public yet. 😂😂😂
robbiefishing no one will notice.
I will comment again then to make sure my comment counts with the algorithm. 👍🏼
That water looks absolutely crystal clear Robbie, absolutely beautiful. Great to see that there are still healthy trout living such clean waterways
Love your videos Robbie 👍👍👍
getting colder here glad it is warming up for you so that i can watch you. really pretty trout and bigger than i had expected to see you catch the water was so shallow. big smiles
Thank you so much Phoebe. I hope you stay nice and warm.
That water will get much shallower in summer, some times it almost dries up.
Thanks for the tips lived in Aus for 22 years and can’t wait to get back into trout fishing ... did a lot of it when I was a kid growing up in Wyoming
Your a legend! Love watching the videos while being in the big smoke! Keep em coming
Hi Davo thanks so much mate.
Great vid Robbie , that 1st rainbow went ballistic , thought you might have said "calm your farm" . You haven't said that for a while , hahaha.
Great video, lots of helpful pointers. Makes me even more keen to ditch the local lakes and try some rivers
Nothing better than when the fish cooperate with the cues! Wow that brown was a pretty fish, great condition as well. Great advice about fishing upstream, I couldn't agree more. I love the look of that waterway!
Thanks mate. It is great when the fish cooperate. Hahahaha
Hey Robbie it’s me again I don’t know if you remember but late last year or earlie this year I said my dads going into surgery that surgery was successful that to your kind words thank you so much Robbie
Hi Amity I speak to so many people each day that I can full remember. The story rings a bell.
Either way, that the fantastic to hear that your old man is doing well.
Beautiful stream! Beautiful trout! Gorgeous looking day! I am completely jealous. Great vid!!
Thanks heaps mate.
Great video Robbie, spinners are great and cheap trout
Lures
Thanks buddy. And they're easy to use making them ideal for kids!
Great spot beautiful I'd love to fish that
That was absolutely awesome!
Great video mate. Cheers!
Thanks mate..👍
Lovely stream. Great fishing.
Here in Michigan (U . S . ) . I use the same spinners for salmon and trout . only in magnum size . certain lures are universal rooster tails and super vibrex spinners are some of the best . great video keep em coming 👍👍🎣
Great video. Very enjoyable. Thanks for bringing me along.
Hi Vincent, thanks for joining me. I hooe you're well over there in 50 shades of green. My beard is 50 shades of grey. LOL
@@robbiefishing Never say grey it's silver. LOL. I've been going silver since my twenties.
Fantastic Robbie. Love this vid even more than usual. 🤙🏽👌🏽👍🏼
Thanks heaps Dan. God's country up there mate.
Very cool footage Robbie couldn't of scripted it better! 👌👌
Thanks Chad, you're not wrong. I love it when the fish cooperate. LOL
The very first cast I would do @0:39 is into that shade under those trees and let spinners float a little bit. And for such distance I wouldn’t wade into water . I would stand on bank and cast into shade if not a bite I start wading. Good video tho.
Amazing clear water
Awesome video mate. Great tips and trick cheers bloke.
Thx Robbie this has helped me out a lot plus I love all of your videos
Hi Amity thank you so much for your kind words.
Good vid thanks mate. Love your passion. Come down to Tassie and I’ll put you onto some of our finest.
Hi James thanks so much mate. And thanks so much for your kind offer. One day I might just find myself in the Apple Isle.
Awsome work matie
Thanks so much mate.
LOVE the water!
Thanks mate. It's a glorious spot for sure.
@@robbiefishing Yup!
Awesome work mate. Great tips and tricks, love your work
Thanks heaps Brad.
Looks like a very nice river great vid and tips 🎣
Thanks so much mate. God's country up there.
Thanks for clearing thing up for me Robbie, I think I had this spinning all wrong. Whenever I tried - 50% of the time I fell over n the other 50% of the time I would cast onto the bank! But I think I’ve got it now. 😊
Hahahaha I do very well at both of those things too mate. LOL
Awsome video like always. I watch your fishing vids all the time and get jealous because I am not there. Hopefully soon I can go to the Upper Goulburn River and fish it and a few of the smaller creeks.
Thanks so much Kris. Good luck up the Goulburn mate. Some beautiful water up that way!
What an Absolutely Beautiful Place You Have to Live 🤙🏻
Thanks mate. I'm so lucky to live where I do.
The spinner in my opinion resembles a type of aquatic insect that may be moving through the water. Because insects are so varied, in my opinion it actually tricks fish far more often. I own all the lure types pretty much, I own spinners, I own lipless crankbaits, I own the crankbaits with the diving lip, I own poppers, I own the soft plastics etc.
They all seem to move pretty well through the water, however the only ones I have ever caught anything on were the spinners. I once fished with a friend as a teen, and I had bought lures, and he gave me a spinner and told me to try it, I caught fish with this, when the other lures wouldn't catch fish. These fish I caught were redfin. I have also caught trout cod, small murray cod, and yellowbelly on spinners.
I don't know why, but none of the other lure types seem to work for me. I think the spinner resembles some kind of intricate insect body moving through the water, and I think that's why it tricks them. I researched and it works particularly well for trout, it seems they catch basically every fish type, except for carp or the bottom dwellers like the catfish.
I wish it wasn't like this to be honest, I want to catch fish on my other lures also. But I never can, I own probably 70 different non spinner lures, never caught a single thing on any of them, all bought from different shops and brands, from halco to other brands.
Overall I have caught around 100 Redfin on my spinner, caught about 5 Yellowbelly on it, caught a single trout cod on it, caught a small Murray cod on it, heck it even caught a bream when I went up to my brother's place. The spinner does appear to be a winner, even when fishing for those bream I tried various lures, and it was only when I switched to the spinner type that I caught a bream.
this was great robby, cheers mate, cant wait for that cod season!!!!! WANGA
Thanks heaps mate, I can't wait either. Absolutely busting to cast a surface lure again.
Panther Martin dressed the black and red with gold blade.
Good video and tips👍
Love the places that you have in Australia for trout fishing
Thanks so much mate. They're great at this time of the year but suffer from warm low water in the summer.
Good video Robbie
What a video Robbie keep up the great work mate
Hey buddy thanks so much.
Good Morning Robbie!!! Alaska.
WOW thank you so much for watching me from Alaska.
Hi Robbie, what a stunning place is that. I think you can not going to tell me where it is but it would be nice to know.... Thanks anyway and great video as usual ciao ciao 👍💪😁😁👋👋
Thanks Mario, this is the Buckland River in North East Victoria.
Sadly this entire area was burnt out back in the January bushfires.
The road is still closed.
I have no doubt that it will recover in a few years.
Beautiful spot. Wish we had more of these down South
Thanks Jaron. I wish we had more up here mate. We use to, but sadly many of my old favourite trout rivers habe changed so much that they no longer have trout in them.
Ditto ditto ditto
Love the bigger streams videos ! Keep me coming
Thanks heaps mate.
Hey Robbie that looks like some pretty water to be fishing glad to see that people in Australia I hope you're in Australia can do trout fishing peace out bro!👍
Thanks for the tips, Robbie mate. My missus and I just got home after finding a bloody beautiful spot up on the Great Divide today full of good sized trout, only thing is it’s over an hour in 1st gear 4wd each way from a main road.
No luck today throwing my bream/bass hardbody lures at them, but I’ll give some of your suggestions a crack next time.
I can’t believe how easily they scare. Are they always so spooky? I would’ve thought they wouldn’t be so hard to get to strike since it’s such a remote spot.
LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
Thank you so much Peter.
Love your videos. Keep up the good work buddy.
Thanks heaps mate.
Lovely spot Robbie boy.. Awesome slomo great video and advice cheers 🍻
Thanks heaps mate. I actually watched one of your videos metal detecting in this area a while back. You went metal detecting, but didn't go metal detecting. You went fishing instead amd the video had an awesome heavy metal soundtrack.
Ahh that’s right went with boshy the butcher.. The heavy metal sound track was my son singing??? I got him into drums and now he sings like that??? Haa . His group is called day three dusk.. Think you can check them out on Facebook? They do a Justin Timberlake song called love stoned.. Not bad . As soon as I seen that stream It looked so familiar.. Have a great week mate. Hopefully catch up for a chat 1 day 👍🍻🇦🇺🎥
Great fish Robbie. I find spinners to be a bit boring on the retrieve but man they make up for it by being super affective
Thanks Michael, I agree. My thoughts exactly.
I love spin fishing unfortunately I hate the bird nesting of reel of a few casts later and shallow waters getting snagged often
Thank yoy for wonderful tape.
What makes the lure a super vibra? and what makes it a celta , and what makes it a dickson ?
i used to spin a little bit for redfin in the lake but couldn't get it out far enough and a few turns of the reel and time to cast in again.
So I used to retrieve slowly because i scared the fish can't catch it.
How you keep the spinner from hitting the bopttom , or was it hitting. ?
Plus you would have to retrieve faster than the current as well - I would never be able to do that.
That why I only did lakes , or maybe spin across the river fishing from the bank.
Hey Mohammed I honestly have no idea. I guess that is just the names the designers have them.
They're all different in small ways.
Not being able to cast far enough? Was your kind to I heavy or your spool running low on line?
Trout will chase a spinner at breakneck speed in the fast water, they're incredibly for and fast fish.
@@robbiefishing I used 9 pound line I think.
and if I put line on spool quite high , It came off in loops and got tangled mess.
@@mohammednovalija Ah OK. All reels do that. 9lb is quite heavy for light spinners. I usually use 4lb, and sometimes 6lb but I find the 6lb doesn't cast as far as the 4lb.
Hiya Robbie, that river looked lovely mate! What day we’ll spent walking that 👌
Thanks buddy. It's a mint spot that's for sure. It's totally different in January though, almost dry.
Hey man. I moved beside a small narrow river in ireland. Want to get a fishing rod. What sort do you recommend. Size, type etc
nice video Robbie, awesome tips 👍
Hey Karl, thanks buddy.
Great fishing mate..
Thanks mate.
I prefer spinning the streams the other way Robbie, get better action on the spinner. I find you have to reel very fast on your method where’s going against it you can just hold your rod and feel the action on the spinner. Good video 👍
Hey mate love your channel keep up the wicked videos i was wondering if there is anywhere online where I can buy the strike tiger nymfs you talk about for trout?
Great stuff mate.
Missing streams a bit.
Need to hit some again soon.
Thanks mate. I hooe you get out soon buddy.
#1 gold vibrax spinner catches everything - even caught an 8 pound largemouth on one....
Grate video mate 👍
Hi Robbie, quick question, do you prefer using braid or mono when spinning the rivers with small spinners? And what gram rod are you using ? 👌🎣 great videos man
Hi mate, I prefer mono for this type of work. Personally I think braid is overrayedxon spin gear. I usually use a 1-2kg rod with 4lb lMaxima Ultragreen line.
@@robbiefishing thanks Robbie 👌 keep up the good work, Senan from Ireland ✌️
Any tips on how to not lose lures when fishing in shallow rocky areas like this. I love fishing with lures but I usually find that I lose so many getting snagged that I just get mad. I've pretty much resigned to using plastic worms or mice tail and just letting them skip along the bottom with some splitshot. At least when i get snagged I'm not losing as much money. Great video. Makes me want to visit Australia.
Thanks so much mate. I usually just wade out, or swim out for my lures but u have a feeling that the water might be much colder where you live.
Sick vid rob..🐐
Thanks heaps mate.
Hi Robbie, awesome vid mate! very informative, im new to this style of spinning but have loads of lures that may work i.e. 2" slim swims and zman grubs would they work in your opinion. Im heading with mates to Oberon dam and surrounding area on the hunt.
Thanks mate. I reckon they will work for sure.
Great video mate
Thanks so much mate.
Love watching u mate
Thank you so much mate.
Bravo good video.
Thanks so much mate.
you're welcome, mate
Hey robbie. Love the channel as u know! Can u do a tattoo tour of all your tats. I see u have one or two!
Thanks so much mate. I think I have 8 tattooes in total. I will try and remember to incorporate my tattoo collection into a video at some stage. Haha
robbiefishing awesome mate. Keep up the great work.
great work mate, what place is it?
Thanks mate, it is the Buckland River.
What is a good creek stream for spinning in Victoria cheers guys
Kennet river, Wye river, Geelong area of Barwon river, Glenelg river
Ngintip dulu kawan..👌👌
Thumbs up 👍
Thanks heaps cam. 👍👍
how do you find the snag rate on those vibrax though?
DOESN'T get much better!
Where is this river and the name of it
Where was it at
I’m just getting into fly fishing for trout please do a new video on it emphasises on “new” and also fun story me and my dad were wading for trout on the Delatite river I think it was and we had to go early because my dad stood Infront of a 11 cm carapace cray! So watch out haha
Hahaha OMG.... did it bite his foot? The poor man. Must have hurt like hell.
Thanks for the suggestion mate. I'm hoping to break out the fly rod soon.
robbiefishing yea had to do stitches in the back of the car Lol
I like the rooster tail spinners but my GF likes the small vibes.
I've spinner fished thousands of streams and I've never used a spinner more successful than a gold super vibrax.
I can see why you would say that mate. They're an amazing spinner.
Would there be fish in mt remarkable alligator creek?
Hi Tommy I have no idea sorry. I dont even know where that is!
robbiefishing oh sorry, I forgot that you are based in vic, I searched up the creek and it looks very deep, what lures would you suggest to use during winter for trout/mountain fishing?
Do you get to do much saltwater fishing at all mate? That water looks so damn good
Thanks mate. Very rarely make it to the salt unfortunately.
How come this tape says Oct 20 2019 , yet the comments were made five days ago ?
Hi Mohammed, this video was filmed last Monday. It has been live on Patreon for a few days before I set it to public here on RUclips.
Its witchcraft
that water looks pure enougth to drink .
