    Always wash your hands before handling the trout or they would die
    They have very small scales if removed that's when they die

    I catch most of them casting downstream

      Completely valid strategy that lets you keep the lure in the water for a long time while using the current to give it great action. Slow retrieve downstream rarely fails me.

      Me too. Casting upstream you get the fish hitting the spinner from the front, not from behind where the hooks are.

    wetting his left hand but holding the trout with the dry hand, talking for ages before trying to reliese but dropped the fish

      That's the problem of a right-hander winding with the left hand. 😂
      It's unnatural.
      Steve would have had his right hand free to wet and hold the fish.
